My wife started having contractions late wednesday night and we went to the hospital early thurs. morning. The doctor was going to break the water but did a quick ultrasound beforehand. We found out the baby was turned the wrong way or breech. We decided to wait and see if he would turn around the right way. We stayed at the hospital overnight and my wife's contractions subsided for the most part.

Since the due date is not for another week, we were sent home in the hopes that he'll turn before he decides to try and be born again. If he doesn't turn by the time the water breaks, its an automatic c-section.

He could come any time, so if I disappear for a couple of days that's why.

My mom was turned the "wrong way" and so was I. She, my sister and I were all brought to this world out of c-sections, so it's not really a big deal... You can be cool about that.

But I'll add you three to my prayers, man. Good luck!

Definitely wishing you the best. I'm sure the doctors will take great care of this situation. I was breech! Look how I turned out.

Let us know how everything goes and hold your wife close.

I was breach! Look how I turned out.

So was I. And I almost turned out normal. Almost.

Anyway, the doctors and nurses know what they are doing. My son almost required an emergency c-section, but everything worked out in the end. Nature has a knack for getting things turned around in the end. Just heed the doctor's advice and everything will go the way it needs to.

And congrats, if a bit early. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

Same here. Is this somehow common among FOLs or something? :look:

:hmpf:

Our two kids also used to turn around until a couple of weeks before delivery. Not that head first is a guarantee for a smooth delivery... hmm, I probably should spare you the details. Anyway, just trust the doctors and when you're unsure about something, you can probably always contact them. Good luck and I'm sure we'll see a proud dad back in a couple of days...

Our thoughts and best wishes are with you, your wife and baby, Cornelius. Best of luck! Mr & Mrs R :sweet:

Oh, and I err... corrected the spelling of 'breech'

breech deliveries are safer to the baby when performed by C-section.

I am an obtetrician for more than 15 years with thousands (in Brazil it is normal, "thousands" in the first years, then we stop counting...)and I just have to advice you to preffer the C-section in this situation.

By the way, my daughter was born 4 years ago, in an elective C-section and they are both fine...

Thanks to everyone for the kind thoughts and prayers (and spell correction  )

I know that there's nothing wrong with a c-section or with kids who arrive via them. Obviously if the baby is in distress, we won't hesitate.

I'll try to keep everyone updated.

I know it must be distressing for both of you thinking of the possibility of not giving birth the way you expected and planned for. It happened to us a few months ago, and I don't wish for you guys to go through the same. But whatever happens, the joy of bringing back home a healthy new baby makes all the birthing hardships fade away and soon be forgotten. Anyway, it's not too late for your baby to turn, so I cross my fingers and wish you both a smooth and happy birth!

I wish you all the best. My daughter had a troubled birth as well, being dangerously underweight, and the stress and helplessness was unbelievably frustrating. All you can do is put your faith in the medical staff, and be thankful we live in the era we do, when medicine is able to do a lot to make everything turn out alright.

Looking forward to pictures!
