Hello, I'm terribly sorry if I'm out of line here or hijacking. If it's considered hijacking mods, just tell me and I'll remove it.

I've had the idea of a Lego Minifigure Series based on Harry Potter for a long time. They're a huge money-spinner (so I think Lego would consider it) and they're a great way to enhance MOCs or collections without including misc. characters in sets (Whole teams for the Quidditch set). They also keep the Harry Potter line going for a while.

With Lego CUUSOO, that's finally possible. I created this project in the hopes that the Harry Potter line could continue for quite some time without Lego losing a huge profit.

That would be a neat idea. Unlike most people today who want 1 complete set with little to no duplicates, this could be the complete opposite. An easy way to get House torsos! Say you got 2 Lavender and Luna, switch the hair and you have 2 more students.

It would be a great idea for this and many of the other licenced themes but I'm wondering if the deal is worded ina similar manner to the Star Wars one and they can't be seen to be selling individual action figures as that would compete with other manafacturers lines.

Yes I know that a minifig looks nothing like a 6 inch posable figurine but I know that star wars battlepacks have the speeders etc thrown in to fit the remit of construction toy

I'd actually agree for any series except Harry Potter. As with you, I don't know the terms of the agreement, but at this point, I don't think WB is selling many Harry Potter action figures. Star Wars has an aisle for every Toys R Us exclusively for that kind of stuff.

I think we'd be safe with Harry Potter, though I doubt Star Wars could squeeze them through.

If they can do it, I'd be curious how much licensing fees would add to the $2.99-$3.49 that Lego is already charging per collectible minifigure. That is to say, would that be a big turn-off for a lot of collectors? (compared to the value of sets like Freeing Dobby or The Forbidden Forest)

Lego's HP license will have run out anyway as it will have been only for the period covering the film releases. which is a hefty chunk of time for a license. Lego had it from at least 1999 with the first set appearing in 2001. 54 sets were produced according to brickset:

2001 (11 sets)

2002 (11 sets)

2003 (2 sets)

2004 (11 sets)

2005 (5 sets)

2007 (1 set)

2010 (6 sets)

2011 (7 sets)

With additional stuff like keyrings and magnets. I don't think anyone can complain at that.

how do someone get a job with lego? how cool would that be honestly.. well i work for lego and my job is to watch harry potter movies and read the books and come up with lego sets according to different locations and scenes in the movie...... wow i wouldnt even need paid that much to have that career. makes me jealous just thinking of it. But anyway, I have had some great ideas for new Harry Potter sets although i dont think i will ever get to see them.

Although i dont know much about this, i believe star wars released an "Ultimate Collectors Series" and im not sure if this was released after the main production of legos or during but i could definitely see Harry Potter releasing something similiar to this. The sets would be larger, prob around 100-150 a peice but would be built for display purposes. I have the TIE Interceper and it comes with a face plate that has a description of the ship and dimensions. So i could definitely see Harry Potter doing something along these lines. As i do agree that the Star wars universe is larger (just in terms of it existing in the entire universe with multiple planets rather than a "secret" society if you may hidden in one world, i would not bet that star wars has that many more fans than harry potter especially if you would consider how long its been out. Harry Potter is an extremely popular series in all countries and as im not as familiar with how popular star wars is over seas (im from the USA) i know that it is very popular here but so is HP, especially with younger kids. And HP is argueably the most successful film series to date, which is most of the reason why star wars gets so much hype now. So i definitely dont see this as being the end of HP LEGO.

But done with my random speeling, These would be my ideas,

I would love a better hogwarts, i just got into collecting harry potter sets and dont have many but i do have 3 hogwarts sets, (all of them besides the one with the clock) and i must say that im disappointed. I mean, they are definitely awesome, but i agree that a much bigger better hogwarts would be awesome. And i really like the idea of doing them in different sets like an Ultimate Hogwarts Collectors Series.

i think the trainstation with maybe a carriage and boathouse would be a cool one,

the great hall,

One common room with many stars that maybe could rotate on swivels to different paintings for entrance

the common rooms

a couple class rooms

the chamber of secrets (with moaning murtles bathroom on the top floor of it)

The astronomy tower

room of requirement( i would make this two fold, part of it being the room of hidden junk and the other being the training room from order of the phoenix.

dumbledores office,

the bridge and courtyard in the back

There are more i thought of earlier but i cant think of them right now, the pictures of these in my head look awesome i wish i was creative enough to build them out lol

The one i would be most excited about seeing would be a department of mysteries for the minister of magic. Just think of how cool and semi easy it would be to make, a hallway with a few fire places, a common room with the center fountain with the muggles under the rock, room of prophecies, and the room of the battle with lucius malfoy and the other death eaters from order of the phoenix. maybe even a room with a courtroom appearance from DH2 or the people printing the why half bloods are bad booklets.

These all sound great, but I doubt any of them will happen. Possibly the Ministry of Magic and maybe the Room of Requirement. But, they won't be doing the Dursley's house because no children care/want to see that. I, of course, would, but no one else does.... I' sure they'll be more, but how 'bout we just be surprised and see what we get!!

i would buy a privet drive

Wha-what? Then TLG shouldn't waste it! I mean, they can release sets from scenes they never worked on! Like the ministry of magic, the shell house, etc! And maybe they could name the line Harry Potter Legends or something similar.. and it should last until the license ends. So they start from the first movie, to the last one (Recreating scenes TLG didn't work on.. I repeat)

And the Pottermore thing proves the Wizarding world of HP isn't over!

Sorry if I got too excited, it's just that... :cry_sad:

Completely agree! What is Lego doing???

I'm sure the bean counters make a lot of these decisions. Sure the die-hard folks like us would purchase new sets but we're just a drop in the proverbial bucket. I'd love to see new Lego HP sets. The wife is only interested in HP, and I've gotten her pretty much every set already.

The only reason why LEGO stopped making HP sets is that the DVDs for the films are going to be discontinued very soon. Otherwise, I hope they'll re-release the films in theaters, as that might help them released new sets around the first few movies.

well, i think they should make separate classrooms like they did in the old days... that was nice.

oh, and i want a remake of the dormitories NOW.

Compared to the new method of including several rooms in a full "building", the seperate classrooms seem pretty lame to me. With them, it was near-impossible to put the sets together into a Hogwarts that looks nearly as good as the new one; rather, it'd lack many walls and the color schemes would only sometimes match. Plus the dormitories don't appear in many playable scenes.

What would be nice to see (and at this point, I doubt we ever will) is a set of the Ministry of Magic or the Chamber of Secrets. The Ministry would be especially nice because it could include many notable locations like the Ministry atrium and the Department of Mysteries, along with updates of outdated figs like Sirius and new figs like Kingsley or Fudge. The Chamber of Secrets could also be done much better than before, with the giant stone face of Salazar Slytherin styled more like a minifigure face, and with a new fig of Lockhart. One thing that probably wouldn't need to change is Fawkes, who still looks good almost a decade later.

guys, dont get too excited. It is not confirmed it ends in 2016 but this is what i have hesrd. I want them to continue Potter lego just as much as the next HP fan. If the licence does run out in 4 years. TLG need to make more HP sets- especially with the release of pottermore :hmpf:

But has pottermore even been that successful? I haven't heard much about it since it debuted (and not much about it then, either).

im not sure as I am not a beta tester but if its an excuse to make more sets, TLG will take it e.g. The Clone Wars, Old Republic

TLC still has the license?! Why aren't they making sets anymore? I know why, but WHY!

Mind you, Harry Potter is (sadly) over for LEGO.

I'm sorry to say this, HP fans, but if LEGO makes new sets, I'll eat my kettle, then buy a new one, then eat that too! :cry_sad:

Ooh! Come on LEGO! I want to see him eat 2 kettles.

I don't understand the lack of sets if they still have the license. Did it not sell well enough or something? Who cares if theres no movies out right now. Who's to say they wouldn't sell? I know I'd buy them. As would a lot of people here.

But think about it. Sure the Batman theme died when the videogame was realeased, but a couple of years later we find out that a new Superheroes theme will come out including not just Batman but even more popular superheroes - making the theme better than it was before!

Now that is something that I would like to happen to the Harry Potter line. A Lego Novels theme anyone?

Actually not a bad idea.
