Algernon Posted June 25, 2011 Posted June 25, 2011 With the last movie coming out this Summer, I seriously doubt there will be a market for Harry Potter at all in 2012. LEGO expressed some doubts on Harry Potter before, so I seriously doubt it would release another wave of sets when all the movies and books are old news. I hope I'm wrong, but I doubt it. Quote
Mrlegoninja Posted June 25, 2011 Posted June 25, 2011 Thay should do exactly what Nintendo does with its mario kart series. Have throw-backs of the old sets released. Quote
Yope Posted June 27, 2011 Posted June 27, 2011 I would suggest that there is one fundamental location in the Harry Potter series that LEGO is yet to do: The Ministry of Magic. The only problem is that there isn't really an exterior. But it would be a great set based on the Deathly Hallows, it could have the atrium with a fountain in the middle overlooked by Umbridge's office and a courtroom as well. As for minifigures, I'd have to say Kingsley Shacklebolt, Yaxley, Umbridge, Percy Weasley, Harry ( I know he's in everything but I'd think this set would need him) and a Dementor. I don't think that it would have to be any bigger than 4867 Hogwarts and I reckon £50 would be fair. If not a Ministry of magic then LEGO should do something new, like an advent calendar or Battle Packs. One could be of the Order of the Phoenix with Kingsley, Tonks, Moody, a redesigned Sirius and a Mundungus another; Dumbledore's army with Cho Chang, Luna, Seamus, Dean and Neville and finally a Death Eater pack with Bellatrix, Dolohov, Yaxley, Narcissa and Thorfinn Rowle (they could all come with a mask on the other side of their face and a hood too). Anyway that is all from me, thanks for reading! Quote
sebarabas Posted June 28, 2011 Posted June 28, 2011 I really doubt there will be another wave in 2012, my last hope was a wave coming with Harry Potter Years: 5-7 but I think that if that was going to happen we would already know about it. I really think its a shame this theme is ending because I think it really has the potential to become the next Star Wars. But anyway I hope I'm wrong and LEGO does releases new sets. Quote
The Real Walkers Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 Go right ahead, but doubt they'll take any notice now, as if there are going to be any more HP sets, A we would have heard of them by now and B they would already be at the production stage if they're coming with the game this Christmas. Sorry to be so miserable, I really do want more HP sets the same as the next person. I am unexperienced in this area but has there been any information about the other winter 2011 sets? Because if not, then why would we have heard any news about just Harry Potter? I'm not sure but it just seems a little off. I personally am expecting to hear any news by the end of August. Quote

I really think its a shame this theme is ending because I think it really has the potential to become the next Star Wars. But anyway I hope I'm wrong and LEGO does releases new sets. I was thinking about HP sets the other day and I think there's plenty of potential left in this line. They could make a killing(IMO) on making single buildings as sets to make Diagon Alley and Hogsmeade. They could release building after building so we could have a full town of each. They could have a UCS theme as well. I don't, however see them surpass SW, but they could be nearly as big. Quote
Vindice Posted July 11, 2011 Posted July 11, 2011 the main reason it won't surpass star wars is because of the lack of vehicles. SW has enormous potential because of the space ships. The varierty of minifigures also helps now more than ever. They could do a lot more with HP but unless the line is outperforming other lines then it will not be renewd. At the end of the day it's a business decision............... but it's also a decision that is taken long in advance. If PotC is underperforming then Potter could be kept but i wouldn't expect them to have planned for that. Quote
Vindicare Posted July 11, 2011 Posted July 11, 2011 Oh, I don't think HP, or any theme, for that matter will be bigger than SW. I was just saying it has the potential to be up there with it. There's still plenty of locales that could be recreated in Lego. While HP doesn't have ships/vehicles, they do have a lot of notable buildings that could become reality. As mentioned, Diagon Alley and Hogsmeade has many named shops that could be made. Grimmauld Place, Shell Cottage, Ministry of Magic, many places to visit. Quote

Kyp Posted July 12, 2011 Posted July 12, 2011 Well Hp is a very well selling series. I think a problem might be that they only have contracts for toys to the movies. and with the movie line ending they might loose the contracts to produce new sets (I'm just guessing here). Because if i recall correctly the first wave of Hp Sets came out with the first movie. I still hope that they produce more sets, because i love this theme. I'd simply like to have more simple things of hogwarts like toilets and classrooms. :D Quote
Derek Posted July 12, 2011 Posted July 12, 2011 Here are some ideas- Meeting Buckbeak- $9-11.99 USD- Buckbeak with small scenery and accessories like Monster Book of Monsters, mushrooms, apple, feather, etc. Includes Hagrid in new color (dark tan or normal brown) and design, Harry and Draco Troll in the Bathroom- $19-24.99 USD- Hogwarts bathroom stalls and sinks with Troll. Includes Harry, Ron, Hermione, and maybe Quirrel Chamber of Secrets Battle- $39-49.99 USD- Small structure representing the Chamber of Secrets, featuring arches and sculpture of Salazar Slytherin. Can attach below "Troll in the Bathroom" Includes Basilisk, Harry, Ginny, Gilderoy Lockhart, Tom Riddle. Shrieking Shack- $59.99 USD- Updated and more detailed version. Includes Harry in new casual clothes (as if this would ever happen...), Sirius, Lupin, Snape, Wormtail. Hogwarts Clock Tower- $89-99.99 USD- Similar to the one released with PoA. Features the clock tower and small courtyard with fountain. Includes Luna (uniform), Neville (uniform), new Dumbledore (in red with hat?), Trelawney, Slughorn, Madam Pomfrey, Ghost. Ministry of Magic- $99-129.99 USD- Sections would include Main Atrium with Floo portals and fountain, Department of Mysteries, Veil Chamber, and possibly a section representing the Court Room. Includes Corneilius Fudge, Umbridge, Casual Sirius, Mad Eye Moody, Tonks, Dumbledore, Voldemort, Generic Death Eater (NOT Malfoy), Harry, Ron, and Hermione. I think these ideas not only seem realistic, but would satisfy most minifigure wants. After a wave like this, I would be more content with the line ending (not that I would want it to ). But I do think Lego needs to release things like this before leaving Harry Potter for good... -Derek Quote
Vindicare Posted July 12, 2011 Posted July 12, 2011 I love HP, but do you want us to go through all the star wars vechiles? They aren't really comparable. ;) That's what I was getting at. Sure, there's a train, car and bus, but there's almost limitless ones in SW. Quote
Vindice Posted July 12, 2011 Posted July 12, 2011 I wholeheartedly agree that Harry Potter could provide us with a lot more sets and TLG with a lot more profit......... unfortunately i just dont think it will happen. I think SW is the only license Lego are locked in on and all the others are going to have to be satisfied with a year or two maximum of new sets. As I've said many times before, i will be one of the happiest people if I'm wrong. Quote
Ultron Posted July 12, 2011 Posted July 12, 2011 Who cares if Harry Potter will surpass star wars or not? Wizards don't really need vehicles...they can apparate. And I personally would much rather have locations than vehicles any day. What's the point of having a vehicle if there aren't many places for it to take you? I think that's the problem with star wars. Sure there are space battles and such but I mean there's only so much you can do with a space ship... Anyway, I think it would be cool to see a hogsmeade set with zonkos, honeydukes, the hogs head, and the three broomsticks. Also, it would be great to have Luna's house, godrics hollow, and maybe a proper forbidden forest, with centaurs and unicorns. Quote
Nick Wolfe Posted July 13, 2011 Posted July 13, 2011 I say that, even if lego is thick enough to kill of the Harry Potter line, I would much rather spend my time imagining the possibilities of the line, than trying to decide it's fate. I would love a re-release of the clock tower. It's one of my favorite architectural stakes of Hogwarts, and I've been trying to make one for my Hogwarts, but it's really difficult when the clock alone costs ten bucks. I would love to see more small sized Hogwarts add-ons, for figures and for pieces to add to my own Hogwarts MOCs. I would also love to see more of Diagon alley and Hogsmeade, but the ministry, for me, seems second priority. I would also love a Lovegood house, If not just for the Xenophilius minifigure, but for something else to go with the Burrow, it looks so lonely on my shelf. I also want some Dirigible Plumbs. Quote
Derek Posted July 14, 2011 Posted July 14, 2011 I too would love to see the Lovegood House...It could be around the same price or somewhat cheaper than the Burrow. SilvaShado Posted July 17, 2011 Posted July 17, 2011 I love a lot of the ideas in this thread. There are so many locations and scenes to choose from that would be fantastic to see in LEGO. The only thing I really really want is a centaur. They have them in the video game so why not make them?! Also, Hagrid's dog. I always thought it odd that they never made him even though there are two versions of his hut. Quote

Maybe the cemetery and Bathilda Bagshot's house. Include Harry and Hermione in Winter clothes and Bathilda in a tatty dress and gray hair in maybe a new messy bun hair piece. Oh! And a Nagini! And I think the release of both some new sets and years 5-7 will coincide with Christmas$$$ Quote
LEGOMAN132 Posted July 17, 2011 Posted July 17, 2011 A UCS Hogwarts Express might be nice. Also it would be nice to get a Cho Chang figure in a set. Quote
