So far, (my mum) has spent $128AUD on me, and she will be buying me the Police Station soon, so yeah, I am pretty lucky that my mum is so generous!

EDIT: Oh, and the $128AUD was the Construction Site =P

It differs for me. I only really buy castle and pirate sets, and perhaps the odd Star Wars set as well. However, I normally wait until there is a sale going on.

For example, I bought the Tower raid, the Skull Island, the Assault Wagon and a couple mine defenders at a Buy 1, get one 50% off sale.I'm only willing to pay full price for sets that I am in love it. A prime example is the Medeival Market Village, that I just ordered from S&H. 180 Canadian $ later.... ouch

So then, judging by those numbers (with a set like market village thrown in once a year or so), probably less than $500 US.

However, this number does not include sets/pieces that I buy from garage sales/online classifieds. These sources practically give them away, so I view it as an investment not a cost, as one could easily make a nice profit just selling it as-is off ebay.

Example

1) Caribbean Clipper, Forbidden Island, and Eldorado Fortress + about 10 pounds of assorted pieces - $50

2) Motorized AT-AT, Trade Federation MTT, AT-ST, Naboo Starfighter, Silth Infiltrator, Imperial Shuttle (in all, about 95-98%+ of pieces) - 150

3) I usually buy bulk lego for $4 a pound.

This usually occurs about once a month or so, but i wish it was everyday. I could almost quit my job, haha.

wow!! you guys spend a lot on lego! (compared to me anyway.) I've only really gotten into lego since october last year. so far i've spent about £40 on lego. I get most of my lego by finding bargains on ebay, so it doesn't really cost that much.

I really have no idea how much I spend on LEGO each year.

Since 1999 I've been collecting Star Wars LEGO and I've got nearly every set ever made.

So that does amount to quite a lot of money each year and then there's the new Castle theme which I am madly in love with.

So far I've got a rough estimate of 2 of each set made.

Also a lot of money.

I am guessing somewhere around 2000 USD per year not including the money spend on attending the Event. *huh*

I might spend a little over $1000 USD a year, I don't really know.

:oh3:

That was really, really, unexpected. As a matter of fact, that's the last them I would have expected a SW fan to like.

Up to £2700/year for me.

It used to work as a monthly budget but in recent years it has been concentrated in fewer larger purchases, so some months I am ahead of budget and other months a bit behind it. I tend to spend a few hundred pounds at Shop@home when I place an order - saves paying postage twice!

I see LEGO as an obsolescence market for parts - parts are only available in sets for a couple of years. Their continuation after that depends on another set using them, which depends on the new set designs within TLG. Sometimes our lobbying can influence a set to include the best parts, Emerald Night 10194 being a good example.

Because of the obsolescence I consider how many of a piece I need and buy that many before it disappears. I also take maximum advantage of bargains and have been known to buy more than ten of one set (others do this even more than me!).

A large proportion of what I buy is for my railway layout, which will measure 16ft x 12ft at 8mm:1ft scale. A big project needs a lot of bricks!

I haven't yet sold any LEGO. I would have to determine that I had a large surplus of something before doing that, as well as being prepared to commit the time to running a Bricklink store (being able to respond to emails every day rather than 2-3 times a week).

It is random. Last week we went to TRU and I bought a few sets for about £60 but then I don't buy anything of note for months or I will buy loads of Lego in the space of a month. Next month I plan on treating myself to my three Agents sets (and more than likely a pirate impulse) on the Lego online shop as I will have finished me three assignments for uni ( I hope, anyway). Last year I bought lots of sets on sale. (all my Exo-Force and most of the Speed Racer sets) so I must have spent at least £500.
