DLuders Posted February 10, 2011 Posted February 10, 2011 (edited) 1-1/2 years ago, I bought the entire Lego Technic collection of a young Mechanical Engineer who was raising funds for his small local company. He showed me his Radio Control (RC) vehicle that used Lego-like elements and RC hobby components to climb the curb outside his house. It was REALLY COOL, and makes even the best Lego Technic Trial Trucks look puny. He said his company was MINDS-i of (nearby) Liberty Lake, Washington, USA. At the time, the company did not yet have the patents to sell their products.... In this morning's local newspaper, there was a nice article about MINDS-i. Their website ( http://www.mymindsi.com/ ) shows their concept, and the products they have. If you like Lego Technic and the RC hobby, you should check this out! Their Instructional Videos show how the system works. "Igniting your creativity and imagination is the goal of MINDS-i. Our patented system of quick-lock construction elements empowers you to create, modify, and re-create inventions of your own design. Program and power-up your inventions to race, climb, battle, and perform complex tasks. Design and build another with the same pieces. MINDS-i gives you total creativity and total control to bring anything your mind can conceive to life." "MINDS-i is universally compatible with most hobby-class motors, servos, transmitters, wheels, tires and more. For the highest-quality components and accessories, look no further than MINDS-i. Experience the potential of your MINDS-i." "From simple structures to high performance race ready vehicles, robots, and solar powered rovers, the innovative MINDS-i system unleashes the creative potential of the most ambitious designer-builder-operator." DLuders Posted May 6, 2012 Author Posted May 6, 2012 (edited) MINDS-i posted this -- "In this Video we took MINDS-i to the next level. Remember when you launched rockets in middle school? Take your school science project to the next level with MINDS-i. This 6x6 Chassis was decked out with dual suspension, a dual motor case upgrade, camo panels, and Estes Rockets that are mounted on a turntable for pan and tilt capabilities. With a security camera on the back you can safely explore foreign terrain. All this is built upon the elegant and durable MINDS-i quick lock system."Are You Ready for the Next Level in Robotics?!" Studio Draven Posted May 6, 2012 Posted May 6, 2012 This is fascinating. I love the concept of being able to design whatever RC vehicle you feel like, build it, have fun with it, then remake it into whatever vehicle you feel like doing next. It's expensive, but it looks like SO much fun. You must get quite a kick knowing you helped this happen! Quote
DLuders Posted May 6, 2012 Author Posted May 6, 2012 (edited) Actually, I did not have anything to do with the MINDS-i development (other than buying the entire Lego Technic collection from one of the MINDS-i developers, who needed start-up cash). Here is another showing the MINDS-i system: Edited May 6, 2012 by DLuders Quote
Studio Draven Posted May 6, 2012 Posted May 6, 2012 That was what I meant; you buying his Lego helped him get going with it. Speaking of money, time to get saving. I want some of this. Quote
timslegos Posted May 6, 2012 Posted May 6, 2012 Wow its like a super version of Legos! Like someone else said, its a shame that the price is so high . tim Quote
DLuders Posted May 6, 2012 Author Posted May 6, 2012 TO ALL: Do you think that it is POSSIBLE to do something like that (launching a rocket from a vehicle) using ONLY Lego Technic elements? Quote
KEvron Posted May 7, 2012 Posted May 7, 2012 Do you think that it is POSSIBLE to do something like that (launching a rocket from a vehicle) using ONLY Lego Technic elements? you run the risk of scorching. KEvron Quote
Saberwing40k Posted May 7, 2012 Posted May 7, 2012 this stuff is cool, but my wallet would be dead even faster if i decided to buy some. Quote
Burf2000 Posted May 9, 2012 Posted May 9, 2012 this stuff is cool, but my wallet would be dead even faster if i decided to buy some. Does look very cool but I can't afford another hobby! Quote
Jim Posted May 9, 2012 Posted May 9, 2012 It does look really cool. If it weren't for the price, I would consider ordering a set. But I'd rather spend $ 500 on Lego Quote
