  1. 1. How would rate this MOC on accuracy terms?

    • Poor, needs more detail. Needs lots of work.
      0
    • Bad, has minor detail, needs work.
      0
    • Ok, has some detail, needs a little work.
    • Good, tons of detail, could only be improved with little tiny details.
    • Perfect as could be in lego form.

As the title states I'm done MOCing the BARC. I will not be revisiting it again. As this is my 501st post, I had to put Rex on there.

ANyway here it is. I've managed to get a pair of hands into the front for guns, I'v put levers on the back to substitute for the older bulky ones. I've reworked the back a bit, and added a red slope for color. Anyways, enjoy!

C&C is OK but I won't be doing another rendition. :classic: Thanks for looking!

EDIT: I have decided to revisit the BARC. :classic:

not to make it bigger though

This is tiny! I like it though. I like your leg solution, and the handle bars are nice. The only thing that bothers me is that the technic pin with stud is sticking out too much.

Look at any canon refference, or wookiepedia do the math. The BARC is a small nimble craft. You'll find that 2 studs wide is FAT, and disproportionate. I'm awaiting Commanderneyos explanation for calling this MOC poor.

Well sorry I just feel it could do with a little more colour like the new ones in the sets come with. Tell you what I'll change it to the middle one cause you have Rex and you did just pass 500 posts

Besides its not that small.

I am always going for dimensions and color. There is no refference to green and white BARC. Dont just give me a score because of the fig I chose.

I for one like this amount of color. Never was a fan of the CW BARC, and they're dk. red in RotS.

The thing that's bothering me is how thin the front is. Like it's missing a 1 x 2 Plate in that area.

Yeah, cant tell you how much I wanted to fit a plate in there. With structure it wouldn't work.

What abou demensions, doc? To small?

Oh I see, you used a headlight brick there. Well at the very least I'd put a Plate 1 x 1 there, or rework the front section to fit the 1 x 2.

Not at all. Just about right.

I just reworked the front, and it fits in there now. I'll update this topic with new pics today, or tomorrow. :classic:

Glad you think the dimensions are good, perhaps people have spent to much time staring at TLGs...

I really like your final(?) version of the BARC brickartist, I think you already incorporated everyone's suggestions all the way from version 1 to approximate the best possible representation of the BARC in brickbuild. I'm quite satisfied with this one, I think the size is just ok, the overall shape and design are there, as are the necessary details, plus the effective leg positioning. Great work, if I had made this I'll be proud of this final product.

Thanks, KDM! Yeah all the constructive criticisms I got helped a ton. :classic:

The tinniness makes it look more slender and fast, Nice work!

Thanks, thats what I was going for, less of a bull-dozer(TLGs) more of a BARC.

Ok I'll try to end this once and for all. I have to make my case

Picture 1

Picture 2

Ok look at picture 1 long and hard. Done? Look at it more. Look at the proportions, think about size.

Now look at picture two. See the biker on the right? Look st how far up the seat goes on his back. Now look back at 1. Now think about how many clone torsos would go across the front-side of the speeder. I'd say 3, sound about right? Now look back at one.

This is the visual process I went through to build this. These are the dimensions I will be using for V6. Fallen and I had a PM discussion to decide on these, and Brickdoctor seconds them. Those are very talented vehicle MOCers, and enough word for me.

I think maybe it's because minifigs are out of proportion in the first place. Thats probably why small MOC's like these can look a little funny.

Yeah theres two ways of building these small models. Do what I did in V.1 and accommodate for the figs weird proportions(TLGs way as well), or what I have now. Which is building a model that is proportionate to a 'real' person, then adding the fig. I'll post my next version without a fig on top.

Honestly, the last thing this model looks is funny. DobbyClone has done a very good job getting the right balance of detail and proportions. There isn't much he can do to change the look without TLG molding MegaBloks-style specialized pieces (bad), and if you think the design looks bad then the only other thing that can change that is if Lucasfilm changed the design of the 'real' vehicle itself. (also bad)

Besides, if he's consulted fallenangel concerning dimensions, I really don't think it's going to be that off.

Yes, and that's precisely what I warned brickartist DobbyClone about in our PM discussions. I'm glad that he's taken that into account, as the shape of the minifigure no longer affects the look of his model.

True, true...

Hello everyone. After receiving a lot of mixed feedback on this model I have now decided to revisit the BARC. This model will be to please what seems to be the common request-It needs to be longer. I did the math, and I suppose you guys were right, I'll make it 14 studs long. I also intend to capture the guns on the front, taper on the underside of the back, and small brown fins on the guns. Anything else you guys would like this model to incorporate?

Thanks.
