Faefrost Posted September 18, 2013 Posted September 18, 2013 Disney just pushed the 5th PotC movie back to 2016 over "Script Problems". (ie "We're terrified of making another Lone Ranger debacle") So we have an extra year to wait for new sets. Glad I wasn't the only one to read into that...I haven't seen the Lone Ranger, but heard it wasn't that bad. The media didn't like it though so it was defeated before it started. Likely not done to the true intent. In any case, I agree with the above in that TLG could produce more PotC sets if they want to keep the line going. I am a bit worried that in 2016 no one will care about PotC by then due to the long layoff in between movies. Do the licenses expire? So maybe TLG won't have the license in 2016? Wonder if TLG could maybe make a set based off of the ride even? Or wonder if they would consider doing something with Captain Hook from Peter Pan instead? Oh dear. If Lego will now be doing full blown fully brick Disney Princess sets then we might see a Capt Hook set under that theme with a Tinkerbell minifig. Quote
Legoman123 Posted October 6, 2013 Posted October 6, 2013 Yes, hopefully we'll get some sets from 1,2,3 with PotC 5. If the main ship for 5 is going to be either the Pearl or QAR then they could make the new line's flagship the Chinese Junk (Hai Peng) from PotC 3 or the Interceptor. Or how about the Flying Dutchman ? Quote
Legoman123 Posted November 4, 2013 Posted November 4, 2013 Just to let everyone know, the new POTC movie is called 'Dead Men Tell No Tales'. Sorry if it is off topic. Quote
4WD Posted November 11, 2013 Posted November 11, 2013 Thanks for the title. Although it's just an idea, the 'Dead Men' part makes me wonder... Maybe Blackbeard will be resurrected as a ghost pirate a la Le Chuck from the Monkey Island series, or perhaps by 'voodoo magic' coming into play. Or perhaps... Maybe they'll make Barbossa the main villain again? He has the QAR and a crew, plus he was once a dead man... well, sort of. Or even better... I think I'll stop now. Quote

I hope they don't make Barbossa the main villain again. They could bring Davy Jones back along with Will Turner though? I also hope that the film isn't about trying to get the ship back, as I really want the crew (including Jack the monkey) to be in the film from the start. Edited November 16, 2013 by Legoman123 Quote
Sebeus I Posted November 16, 2013 Posted November 16, 2013 I really have no Idea what the story of a new POTC movie would be. In the end it was Jack Sparrow's goal to revive his beloved ship. Yet it seems unlikely that the Black Pearl would return, considering the movie set was modified into the QAR. Anyway if there will be a new movie I hope there will be atleast a sea battle between two (or more) ships this time. Quote
Horatio Posted November 16, 2013 Posted November 16, 2013 Apparently Disney in all of their wisdom is making a fifth movie : http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/pirates-caribbean-5-delayed-beyond-625570 It would be interesting if they decided to use the HMS Surprise again- as far as I know the ship is just still sitting there. Only issue is that they wouldn't do any kind of sea battles with a rented ship (which is why they bypassed a battle in the fourth movie). Anyway, the release date is far enough away that there could probably be a revival in the sets. Imagine if they DID use the Surprise, and made a set out of that! Quote
Legoman123 Posted November 17, 2013 Posted November 17, 2013 (edited) Do you guys think we will see POTC sets before the fifth movie? I really hope we do because 2016 is a long time to wait until we get the next wave of sets. Edited November 17, 2013 by Legoman123 Quote
Sprocket Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 I doubt it, personally: it just wouldn't be very smart to invest in it without media to back it up. But that's just my opinion. Quote

They have said that they get an order of magnitude more return on something like that when they have an actual movie tie in. At best we might hope they can squeeze in a non licensed Pirates subject before the next PotC movie? (I'm probably just dreaming) Quote

Legoman123 Posted February 17, 2015 Posted February 17, 2015 When this line finally comes round again I do hope we get a Jack the Monkey. Quote
legofreak86 Posted February 18, 2015 Posted February 18, 2015 (edited) http://comicbook.com...gins-productio/ Gentlemen we have our heading! This sounds interesting and could give us some cool sets! Javier Bardem as the villain thats gotta be good! Edited February 18, 2015 by legofreak86 Quote
Legoman123 Posted February 18, 2015 Posted February 18, 2015 LEGOFREAK86 have you heard about Orlando Bloom coming back into the franchise! Quote
gedren_y Posted February 18, 2015 Posted February 18, 2015 July 7, 2017 is the projected release date, according to IMDb. Two years for Lego to work on set designs, new figure prints, and possibly some new parts. Hopefully we will see the return of the baldric mold. Quote

Fletcher Floyd Posted May 9, 2015 Posted May 9, 2015 In my opinion there are many possible sets from PotC 1-4 Lego could bring along with the sets for the upcoming 5th film: -The Flying Dutchman (with Davy Jones and Will Turner as "New Captain") -Tortuga (with drunken-style Gibbs/Norrington -and a pig- and Elizabeth with sailor's clothes) -The Endeavour (with Mercer & Beckett) -Port Royal Harbour (with G. Swann & those two funny Guards) -Tia Dalma's Hut in the Swamp (with Tia Dalma and Jack the monkey) -Sao Feng's Hideout (with Sao Feng, Pintel and Ragetti) -Shipwreck Bay (with Daddy Sparrow, Singapore-Style Elizabeth and some of the Pirates of the Brotherhood) Since I really like the Lego-PotC-Sets, I hope there will be a new line and hopefully some of the sets above as well:-) Quote

Boettner Builds Posted May 24, 2015 Posted May 24, 2015 I do hope they come out with some nice sets. But either way I'll be getting them all! :) Quote
deskp Posted July 2, 2015 Posted July 2, 2015 The theme will return I assume. They say the theme did well last time. If it gets a new game or not is hard to say. Quote
jodawill Posted July 2, 2015 Posted July 2, 2015 I sure hope not. The real Pirates theme is so much better. Quote
Juun Posted July 2, 2015 Posted July 2, 2015 I really hope for a re-release of the Black Pearl. I missed it when it was out and the prices are crazy high now on them. Quote
TheLegoDr Posted July 2, 2015 Posted July 2, 2015 That's the tricky thing. Will they re-release a set in such a short amount of time? Surely it could sell well a second time. But it was also found at clearance prices for a while. AND it had Davy Jones, which is a selling point. A new updated version a few years later, tough to say. What could be improved or changed? Is there a market for another one? SW re-releases sets all of the time, but how different are they really?I would imagine they will have the license again, but I can't say for sure what it would entail. Maybe finally a set from the 3rd movie? Quote
deskp Posted July 2, 2015 Posted July 2, 2015 Black pearl wasnt that great the first time, they can improve it alot. and yes thers a market a whole new generation, its been 6 years by the time of the next movie. 6 years of new parts and improved lego designers should make a better pearl. Theres a lot of charcaters we havent gotten eyt that fans in aprticular want, like Marty who is in the new movie aswell. and a 2. figure of Adam brown! Quote
