Captain Becker Posted September 8, 2010 Posted September 8, 2010 Hmmm, i guess both forums. But if not, then i guess in pirates forum. Captain Becker Quote
Brig. Brick Posted September 9, 2010 Posted September 9, 2010 (edited) It's a shame, really... My name, my avatar, everything seems to point to me as a Pirates fan. But I find myself spending most of my time in the Town theme, and I put the blame on Lego for that... Maybe 'Elijah Timms' would be an okay name for a Fireman... agreed, it a shame the pirate theme was interrupted again so soon I don't like the idea of another franchise, especially Disney, flesh colors, the same "hero" in every set, and the ghoulish and fish heads is not a good idea. BUT, if this is necesary to revive the pirate topic, be welcome I think that every day, the AFOLs becomes the the largest consumer group, And in my case, when I was a child, I didn't have money to bought everything I wanted, but now, with the 2009 pirate collection, I made my retribution and if I had to choose a theme/franchise to develop, as PoP that came from a video game, I would choose Sid Meier's pirates! Rick Posted September 9, 2010 Posted September 9, 2010 When/If POTC is realeased will we post reviews and MOC's in the Pirates fourm or the Licensed fourm ??? I think I read somewhere that the staff decided that PotC would go in Pirates. Quote
David Thomsen Posted September 9, 2010 Posted September 9, 2010 (edited) Some pictures have appeared of Ian McShane's Blackbeard character... The guy on the right is holding a dark reddish brown lightsaber blade with a black 1x1 round brick on the end. Ian McShane is wearing a tricorn and Dumbledore's beard. Penelope Cruz has Agent Trace's hair. Is it wrong that I see everything in terms of Lego pieces? Edited September 9, 2010 by David Thomsen Quote
Brickviller Posted September 9, 2010 Posted September 9, 2010 Hard to say but I'm really not interest in another licensed theme. What's going on with Lego? I liked the Lego-ish looks of the previous pirate line and I wish (even I have bhought none of those sets) they would make more of those sets. Quote
Delta 38 Posted September 9, 2010 Posted September 9, 2010 I'm obviously a bit new to this as I was almost certain that the minifig at Comic Con was a custom and was probably just a joke or something. I'm not sure how I would welcome a Pirates of the Caribbean theme as I know next to nothing about the movies themselves. There are mutated fish things or something though? That would definitely be welcome, and would help expand my current Atlantis collection. Is there any definite proof that this is real, though? Because if we do get to see weird mutants than I would most certainly like to get some. Quote
Eurobricks Emperor Bonaparte Posted September 9, 2010 Eurobricks Emperor Posted September 9, 2010 1 Question Guys When/If POTC is realeased will we post reviews and MOC's in the Pirates fourm or the Licensed fourm ??? Hmmm, i guess both forums. But if not, then i guess in pirates forum. Captain Becker Guys, don't you ever read what's posted? When going back into this thread you'll find it stated several times that POTC goes entirely into the pirates forum. Quote
Rapseflaps Posted September 10, 2010 Posted September 10, 2010 What we have to hear? Captain Becker It's an expression. You can look it up. Quote
SkaForHire Posted September 10, 2010 Posted September 10, 2010 I don't think it will be all that bad, except for the fact that if you bought the whole line you will probably have 14 Jack Sparrows. I was really impressed with both Indy and PoP. Although Indy was way overpriced, PoP sometimes had very good prices (the castle comes to mind). Also, I know a lot of us are purists, but one of these days we will all have to embrace the fleshies... they are here to stay. Consider it "diversity" in your lego world. Lastly, in response to the 4th pirates being the finale - unless this one bombs (which it won't) I would expect to see a fifth pirates in three years. Quote
Jack Bricker Posted September 13, 2010 Posted September 13, 2010 (edited) After seeing the picture of the Queen Annes Revenge for the new POTC movie I am very hopeful that at least we will get some great Pirate galleons. Personally I only like the big ships or the really small sloops. I don't care for the brigs all that much so it would be great if they came out with some proper pirate galleons and perhapes some more great naval war ships. Admiral BrickFin Posted September 13, 2010 Posted September 13, 2010 Well, what to think, do I want it or not? As long as the minifigures are up to standards, and the ships are cool, I am fine with it. But it does mark the end of classic pirates, but they have been around a long time, maybe too long... Quote
michaelozzie Posted September 13, 2010 Posted September 13, 2010 My only gripe with this is they will all be fleshies. so they wont blend in with my other pirates sets. Unless i imagine they are untanned albino pirates visiting the carribean...... And i guess you wont be able to change over the heads easy because alot of fleshy colours will be printed on the torsos too Quote
Admiral BrickFin Posted September 13, 2010 Posted September 13, 2010 (edited) Ahh, I share your gripe, I think it should just be one or the other, not different for differnt themes. There have been yellows longer than fleshies so I vote yellows! Down with the fleshies! -Admiral BrickFin Edit: Most of the themes with fleshies are film liecences to make them look more like the real characters. Destroydacre Posted September 14, 2010 Posted September 14, 2010 Guys, don't you ever read what's posted? When going back into this thread you'll find it stated several times that POTC goes entirely into the pirates forum. Why? Indiana Jones didn't go in the action themes forum. Prince of Persia didn't go in historic themes. Why would POTC go in pirates? Quote
David Thomsen Posted September 14, 2010 Posted September 14, 2010 Why? Indiana Jones didn't go in the action themes forum. Prince of Persia didn't go in historic themes. Why would POTC go in pirates? This issue has already been discussed and closed... it's basically the Word of Mod, and if the topic keeps being raised, I think we'll eventually suffer the Wrath of Mod. Quote
Zorro Posted September 14, 2010 Posted September 14, 2010 This issue has already been discussed and closed... it's basically the Word of Mod, and if the topic keeps being raised, I think we'll eventually suffer the Wrath of Mod. Right on! PotC will go under Pirates partly because this forum has 'forum-dedicated' manpower (Star Wars is separate because of the same reasons). It has been discussed and we've made a decision and we're gonna stick to it! Quote

Given that I've done nothing wrong, I'm personally not too concerned with the "wrath of mod." I'm more concerned with having to sift through all the POTC threads this forum will get overrun with in order to get to actual Lego pirate talk. I guarantee that while I may be in the minority, I'm not the only person who feels this way. Quote

We'll do our best to keep our classic-pirates talk from becoming swallowed by PoTC. As I say, the more LEGO Pirates the better, whether they are fleshie figs or not. Quote
David Thomsen Posted September 22, 2010 Posted September 22, 2010 (edited) It just occured to me - we're beginning to see so many images from 2011 retailer catalogues, how come we haven't seen any POTC images pop up yet? Are they not in the catalogues? If they're being launched in January, it seems strange to exclude them. Oh well, they shouldn't be too far away, as Achris said: You should start to hear offical word next month with the next big Licensing event taking place on the 28th Sep I think... Although I still have no idea what a 'Licensing event' is. Edited September 22, 2010 by David Thomsen Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted September 22, 2010 Governor Posted September 22, 2010 Here's the evidence I've accumulated to support this Imperial Armada speculation: The film opens at night. Spanish fisherman spots something in the water. A Shape. He fishes out what he soon discovers is the body of an ancient sailor. The boat’s captain rushes over for a look – - before he can make his assessment, the thought-dead sailor’s eyes open. Sailor grabs Captain’s arm… fade out. The Captain and his aide then arrive at the regal residents of King Ferdinand, with said body, who inform the royal that the not-so-dead sailor claims to have sailed on a vessel belonging to the ship of Ponce de Leon, who died 200 years ago. Ferdinand’s first thought is that the sailor has found the legendary Fountain of Youth. He orders ‘The Spaniard’ to hit the seas in search of it. There were two King Ferdinands of Spain, Ferdinan IV seems most appropriate for the period in which the film will be set (although this probably won't be implicity stated) Ponce de León was a Spanish explorer associated with the Fountain of Youth Some of the filming is to take San Cristobal Castle at Old San Juan. It was built in 1783 and is the largest fortification built by the Spanish in the new World. There are also these set pictures: There is also another set picture of Jack Sparrow running around the ramparts of a Spanish Fort but I'll be damned if I can find it again. Quote
Zorro Posted September 22, 2010 Posted September 22, 2010 It would be nice to see the return of some Armada faction, but it will also depend on how they will produce these 'Armadians' into the movie, (mostly) historically correct or not. The original LEGO Armada line wasn't very historically correct, not for that age at least. Still, I have no problem at all with Armada returning! Many parts like the helmet are still in production anyway. PS: we also have a confirmed Black Pearl ship . EDIT: this is a picture of one of the games, so that looks good! And since these are supposed to be damned, that overcomes the historical time issue too. Quote
______ Posted September 22, 2010 Posted September 22, 2010 I am not sure whether they actually still are making them because as you said they are not in the catalogues. Although we'll find out on the 28th so lets just wait and see. Quote
Tervlon Posted September 22, 2010 Posted September 22, 2010 Who says they aren't in the catalogs? We've only seen a few pages of the catalog, plus if POTC isn't released til March-May 2011 it may not be in this catalog as it mainly contains things that will be out in Jan 2011. Patience. :) Quote
Erdbeereis Posted September 22, 2010 Posted September 22, 2010 I wouldn't worry about it. I don't think PoTC is supposed to come out in January yet, so it's likely that the sets aren't in catalogues right now. Quote
