September 9, 20168 yr If done right the black pearl should have a decent amount of browns and sand green in it along with all the grey and black. The Black Pearl seems the best option if they want to keep selling the set for several years. lets hope its a set with a massive amount of figures like the ewok village and Hoth.
September 9, 20168 yr You linked my phototbucket, lol. Well, I remembered stumbling over that review a few days ago and remembered those sails:P I hope you didn't mind me linking it;) I hope this rumor is true, although in my case it would only be me hoping for some interesting parts, as I'm not particularly interested in sets that size. Let's hope it is true - it would at least explain why we didn't hear anything before - it sounds like this would be an exclusive set.
September 9, 20168 yr lets hope its a set with a massive amount of figures like the ewok village and Hoth. For a set of that price I expect a decent of minifigures to be included.
September 9, 20168 yr For a set of that price I expect a decent of minifigures to be included. Disney Castle, 5 figures £289.99. Unfortunately POTC is a Disney license so there is a chance this may happen this is mainly due to licensing fees. Also Johnny Depp may not be in any more pirates of the Caribbeans and Disney will not be making a sixth film! Source: http://www.asiastarz...caribbean-5.htm I wouldn't be surprised if they repeated that pattern... Edited September 9, 20168 yr by SodorBricks

With disney castle they didn't want to compete with the CMF series, and most new characters would need molds, that's not the case with potc. Star wars is disney too, even got the logo on the boxes.
September 9, 20168 yr I do think the rumored D2C ship is more likely to be a ship other than the Black Pearl. While the Black Pearl is indeed the most recurring ship in the series, I'd think it'd be more likely to appear as a standard retail set again for that very reason. Also, IIRC many of the other ships in the series are actually larger than the Black Pearl—I would imagine Lego would want the D2C set to be at least somewhat in scale with whatever ship or ships are released alongside it at regular retailers, which would necessitate that it be a larger ship to suit its higher price point. The Flying Dutchman is a good guess for what the D2C ship would be, because it has already appeared in multiple movies (despite presumably not reappearing in the new movie), and is one of the most distinctive ships in terms of its appearance. Also, its ramshackle structure would necessitate a very complex build instead of relying upon traditional boat hulls, making it well-suited to an adult-focused D2C set.
September 9, 20168 yr I have been too lazy to type what Lyichir just said but it's been what I've been thinking.

Um, the Flying Dutchman pretty much has to return in DMTNT, at least in some capacity... I mean Will Turner is back and unless he abandoned his duties between movies, he's bound to be captain of that ship for all eternity Speaking of which: maybe the D2C set is the Flying Dutchman after all, perhaps they still have the old prototype of the supposedly cancelled set laying around and have now felt the opportunity to finally release after all these years
September 9, 20168 yr I agree, I'm leaning more towards the Dutchman or one of the Ghost Ships than the Pearl being the UCS. But it's anyone's guess.
September 9, 20168 yr Flying Dutchman would make sense with a $250 cost, considering that it's not only a huge ship but one with a disproportionate level of greebling and detail (compared to the much more clean-cut look of the Imperial Flagship).
September 9, 20168 yr It just came to mind, what is the Ideas Dutchman guy going to think when it comes out... if it is a Dutchman
September 9, 20168 yr It just came to mind, what is the Ideas Dutchman guy going to think when it comes out... if it is a Dutchman It will be The Ghost busters firehouse all over again! Or he may just be grateful that lego made a Dutchman set
September 9, 20168 yr I would love it to be the Dutchman! That is one ship I could never see myself making, but would love to have!
September 10, 20168 yr I do think the rumored D2C ship is more likely to be a ship other than the Black Pearl. The rumor is basically that there wont be any normal retail sets.
September 10, 20168 yr It just came to mind, what is the Ideas Dutchman guy going to think when it comes out... if it is a Dutchman I guess he'll buy it? Myself, I suspect it will be a ship from the new movie. Either the Black Pearl or the bad guy's ship. And between the two of them, my money's on (maybe literally) the Black Pearl. It's the iconic ship of this series, like the Millennium Falcon of PotC. And, as we all know... Lego loves re-making better and better Millennium Falcons. Also, at first, I was pleased to hear about this because I was under the impression it would be the flagship of a new wave... but the comparison to the Ghostbusters stuff is worrisome... And may indeed be a good comparison. I certainly hope there's more than one set. Well what did you expect??The latest rumor that came from The Brick Fan is the first solid leak/rumor we had thus far, well if you don't count the fake news that we had to deal with back on july. And mind you I hate speculation as much as the next guy but I've been trying to keep this thread alive because...well because it's special for me.And I know how weird this sounds Or maybe it has to do with my love for the franchise and my desparation to hear some news. Didn't mean to offend, but I did expect news every time I opened the thread, only to find endless debate as to the source of faulty rumours. But I too am super syked to hear that the PotC line is continuing, so now will no longer have to simply skip this thread over! ~Insectoid Aristocrat

Please don't fill this topic with pointless conversation not relevant to the POTC theme though. You were at that line before news of the $250 set being released. Thank you.
September 10, 20168 yr You were at that line before news of the $250 set being released. Not trying to be offencive here but I would like to know when was that.I'm not the kind of guy who goes out off-topic for too long and I would like to mention that before the news broke there wasn't anything to talk about,Lego related atleast.
September 10, 20168 yr Rumor has it that there is a new $200-$250 D2C Pirate Ship coming out next year. http://www.thebrickf...d-set-for-2017/ Awesome, if true. I'm hoping it's the Black Pearl. In the same way as the UCS Death Star is the big flagship set for the Star Wars series, I'd say the UCS Black Pearl would be the flagship set of the Pirates of the Caribbean series. If that's the case I am hoping for a nice, full cast of characters.

If that's the case I am hoping for a nice, full cast of characters. Thats what im hoping as well! It will be just like the ghost busters HQ. Im mainly curious how accurate it will be if they do make it. Would it have a full cast of sails. With a full under deck (like 10210).
September 11, 20168 yr I just can't get excited about the thought of the Flippin' Dutchman being released as a set... unless it is absolutely loaded with good building parts. This is due mostly to it being entirely fictitious and therefore beyond my interest. Sure, it's iconic, but then so is The Pearl. The latter is more appealing to me, but still has an unusual appearance due to that color scheme. Either one would have to be incredibly good for me to buy; I got 10210 IFS and was immediately disappointed by it, but this should be better with the higher price tag... assuming, of course, that it does actually happen...
