Does this mean the Queen Anne's Revenge will be about the size of the new Hogwarts? I was actually hoping for Isla de Muerta to be a bit bigger, (been needing a big cave lately ) but I really shan't be heard complaining about that! The other sets sound great too ! Quote
Mrlegoninja Posted November 27, 2010 Posted November 27, 2010 Sounds good! I can't wait to see pics! Quote
tin7_creations Posted November 28, 2010 Posted November 28, 2010 (Although since the 'captain's cabin' is the smallest set, it might contain just a few minifigs and desk that you can fit inside the ship. We shall see.) I wonder how they'll do the 'ship in the bottle'? I can't picture anything resembling that in minifig scale without custom pieces. A 'ship in a bottle' custom piece would be one of my favourites. TECHNICALLY... if LEGO is making the piece... then it wouldn't be considered a "custom" piece... I think the word you're looking for is "new mold" as opposed to "custom piece". However, that sounds like a very intriguing piece; I can't wait to see how LEGO will pull it off! Plus, Keira Knightly = yum, and Will Turner means we'll finally get an Orlando Bloom head; I can finally make an authentic looking Legolas! Quote
Gryphon Ink Posted November 28, 2010 Posted November 28, 2010 and Will Turner means we'll finally get an Orlando Bloom head; I can finally make an authentic looking Legolas! Yes, if by "authentic-looking Legolas" you mean "Legolas with a silly little moustache and beard". Quote
tin7_creations Posted November 28, 2010 Posted November 28, 2010 Yes, if by "authentic-looking Legolas" you mean "Legolas with a silly little moustache and beard". Not a problem; I should be able to wipe off the moustache/beard print without damaging the eyes and mouth! Quote
Delta 38 Posted November 28, 2010 Posted November 28, 2010 Interesting. I'm fairly interested in the smaller sets, but they do seem to big rather large. I hope the cannibal set includes some nice bone stuff. The other sets sound interesting, but I have no knowledge of the series and I'll have to see images before I can judge. Quote
David Thomsen Posted November 28, 2010 Posted November 28, 2010 I hope the cannibal set includes some nice bone stuff. Ooh! I saw a bone piece used as a weapon by a Ninjago figure. This would be the perfect application for it. Quote
RoryoCox Posted November 28, 2010 Posted November 28, 2010 Ooh! I saw a bone piece used as a weapon by a Ninjago figure. This would be the perfect application for it. That piece might be a bit big, it's the size of a minifigure alone. I have to say that the news about the sets if really good to here. If the ship looks good and they pull it off then it will be a must have. Also the chance for new pirates and torso's as well as new molds is good- judging from these sets there will be some very interesting pieces. Quote
Baylego Posted November 28, 2010 Posted November 28, 2010 I just thought that the cannibal set might be great for some new islanders. Mabye in the darker flesh tone from Indiana Jones? Quote

I wouldn't be surprised to see them just use one of those 'perfume bottles' to REPRESENT the 'ship in a bottle'...though it would be cool if they did that with a SIAB PRINT on the side. Elander Posted November 28, 2010 Posted November 28, 2010 I hope for an islander-village with many new coloured Insulaner-Minifigs. -> Jocularly in addition Jack Sparrow would be (painted) on spit. ^^ As an Action-Playset (so I call it) there would be the rolling cage (where itself William Turner and the rest consider). That cage would be a hang roll down. As a pursuer there would be in addition other islanders. Cool, my wish comes true! All the new sets sounds good! I hope the London-set give us two civilians with periwigs and soldiers with bayonets for the guns. TLG, if you really want. If you really serious want. Than will be this theme to go like a bomb! You must to integrate well appointed Exclusive-Sets in this theme (for example like the style from the city-houses as governor-mension with some aristocrats). Here you can really win the elderly. Now it is your chance! Visit Disneyworld, drive the PotC-ride to see this world and give us some from this locations. Give this sets a small recall value. The people will to grin and say: "hey, here, do you remember the scene were in the village the men was waterspitting pulled out of the well?" So many people have seen this scenes. And they will remember. Connect small ride-scenes with the movie-scenes and you give this sets a double recall value! Phu.... so much possibilities. You can't fail. I hope we will see the dog with the key. I love that dog. Quote
Oky Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 I can very well imagine the Islanders having the old Islander hairpiece with one of those new small bone pieces (as seen in some 2011 Police and NinjaGo sets) stuck on top of it. I hope this is the case! Quote
David Thomsen Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 (edited) That piece might be a bit big, it's the size of a minifigure alone. If the cannibal cage isn't made out of these bone pieces, I will trade my mother for a megablock. I hope the London-set give us two civilians with periwigs and soldiers with bayonets for the guns. Civilians with wigs would be great, but no action theme has ever had civilian characters, unfortunately. I don't think we'll see wigs until we get Cutler Beckett. As much as I want this theme, I'm kind of suspicious of TLC's ability to follow themes through. There were so many obvious Indiana Jones locations and characters missed... what if we don't get Tia Dalma, or Governor Swann's Mansion? They didn't even make a bowler hat for the Speed Racer theme... what if we never see wigs at all? Lego should be taken over and controlled by AFOLs. It's the only way. Edit: Actually, the Agents theme had those civilians who were being menaced by a giant robot, didn't it? But the London set doesn't sound like it has anyone to be menaced. Lord Embo Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 I wonder what Blackbeard will look like in Lego and in the movie. I've seen all three films so far and, IMO, there should be a Flying Dutchman set in this wave! Oh well, at least we get one ship in this first wave. Lord Embo Quote
martinsuper Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 After a long time away from LEGO because of work, family, and other obligations, I find that like everything I used to love as a child it has been sold to the highest bidder. Of course, let me be the one to say I think this is a really bad idea. I loved LEGO as a kid because it wasn't like all the other cheap "themed" toys. Nothing looks dumber to me than the "Halo fake LEGOs". Now we get the same garbage from LEGO directly. Awesome. Quote
joeygunns Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 Found a behind the scenes video on youtube from the new movie. I think it gives us some better idea of the set pieces from the movie and how they might translate into lego. I re-watched the trilogy on the weekend, i'm looking forward to seeing how lego pulls this off, of course im a classic pirate fan from childhood but after last years disappointing pirate range im optimistic to see pirates of the caribbean lego. I'm most excited about "the london escape" set..simply because of this.. I assume the scene they were filming has something to do with escaping from london..why else would captain jack be riding on top of a horse and carriage? I think we may be getting a horse and carriage in the london escape set :) Queens annes revenge looks like a huge ship, i'm hoping the captains cabin set can fit inside the ship, that would be very cool. Dreamweb Posted November 30, 2010 Posted November 30, 2010 Since the names of the upcoming eight sets have not yet been blogged on Classic-Pirates.com, expect them to be frontpaged there soon! [bloggedcp][/bloggedcp] Quote
yumiyoshi Posted November 30, 2010 Posted November 30, 2010 These days I've been near to click the Check Out option on the S@H at least 10times: I was unsure, still am, about buying the Imperial Flagship or not. I wanted a real ship, detailed and not too cartoonish, and the flagship has an amazing design, but... but... if they'll put the same efforts on designin the 4195 QA'sR well, I'd be washed away by the shores of amazingness :D Saw the price on play.com setted at 103£ so it will be around the same euro price of 150€. Forbodings and hints are good. And you know what? I'll have the flagship and the QA'sR. Women are so mercurial.. Quote

Apache Posted December 1, 2010 Posted December 1, 2010 (edited) Someone just posted this pic here of POC minifigures. Don't know if they are custom, but some interesting figs. ++++ Update++++ Upon further review, these look like customs that someone is pawning off as real minifigs. Just looks like someone is mixing and matching. Can't wait for the new stuff....love the sound of the new sets...I'm hooked! Edited December 1, 2010 by Apache Quote

Also, if you use the link in your post and scroll down a little bit, it gives you the set prices in the UK, the US and in Canada. Lord Embo Quote
Oky Posted December 1, 2010 Posted December 1, 2010 (edited) Yup, they're from Swash Buckler's excellent Black Pearl MOC. The prices are pretty much what I expected them to be, although I was hoping Isla De la Muerta would be a bit cheaper, but oh well. Now all we need is pics! lt.Gonville brickhead Posted December 1, 2010 Posted December 1, 2010 Can't wait although I thought the Lego company would make the black pearl Blackbeard...wasn't that the guy in the third movie? I would be glad to get Barbossa's hair piece, guess that would look great. No that was captain Teague (Jack's Dad) and it's good to see that there making sets from the other movies Quote
Lord Embo Posted December 1, 2010 Posted December 1, 2010 No that was captain Teague (Jack's Dad) Oh. I thought that was Blackbeard in the third movie. I've never even heard of Captain Teague. To me, he did look suspiciously like Blackbeard, based upon pictures that I have seen. Lord Embo Quote
