Cad Bane Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 These new images look great! Queen Anne's Revenge looks very impressive. I wonder about the rumored 'Black Pearl'. Hopefully we'll get more pics soon as well as more info (price and description-wise). Looking forward to getting these once they come out in May. Can't wait for more/clearer/bigger pics! Quote
Churchill Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 I'm excited to see some structures that we can use for our pirates, yellow or flesh. I might even be able to incorporate them into some American Revolution stuff. I've been thinking about Medevial Market for the same purpose.... Quote
TeufelHund Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 The only drawback is flesh-toned minifigs. I still haven't got used to these. I wish Lego would offer the heads in yellow as an alternative, even if they are not used in box art or publicity material. As an AFOL I actually prefer the flesh-tones to the normal yellow - it just looks better IMO. Quote
Mr. Gray Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 As an AFOL I actually prefer the flesh-tones to the normal yellow - it just looks better IMO. I've actually been thinking about switching over to fleshie heads after hearing about the arrival of this theme. However, I think I'll stick to yellow heads, since normal LEGO Pirates is bound to come back eventually. Quote
mattb483 Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 I like the traditional yellow.Since i use to build small models I'm pretty good at painting therefore the torsos that have flesh i use a good water based model paint to cover over the flesh. I've already done it on the POP and harry potter figs then i just buy lots of yellow hands and heads on eBay so thats my plan for the pirates theme! Quote
______ Posted January 18, 2011 Posted January 18, 2011 It looks like the pictures have came off the website, would love another look at QAR I hope we see pictures of the BP soon enough. Quote
Captain Becker Posted January 18, 2011 Posted January 18, 2011 What do you mean about at the pictures of QAR is gone? I see the picture still and in case at it would diappear, i have saved the pic on to my PC so i can take the closer look everytime i want. Bigger photo of QAR Captain Becker Quote
Haltiamieli Posted January 18, 2011 Posted January 18, 2011 What do you mean about at the pictures of QAR is gone? I see the picture still Well, the pictures have been removed from the original source, a Dutch online toy shop. Not surprising, as they were still preliminary. Obviously the pictures themselves have already spread to fan sites and such, so one can still find them elsewhere. Here's to hoping that we'll soon have official pictures. Quote
Big Cam Posted January 18, 2011 Posted January 18, 2011 TLG most likely asked he merchant to take them down. We have done the same. Quote

Bigger photo of QAR Captain Becker Thanks for the pic, it seems that LEGO is rapidly deleting summer and May set puctures. Those pictures in that guys Flickr stream of the UFO etc have gone as well. punkkid364 Posted January 18, 2011 Posted January 18, 2011 I'm really hoping that the Black Pearl is more dark brown than black. I think it's a more accurate color according to the films. The Lego black is just TOO black, in my opinion. I want to see some pics of it before the other sets come out, so I can decide whether to go for the QAR or wait (impatiently) for November. Quote
Churchill Posted January 18, 2011 Posted January 18, 2011 I'm glad we're getting some horses in the Pirates/POTC sets. Now I can build up my cavalry with 17th-18th century sets, as opposed to Kingdoms. Quote
Captain Grog Posted January 19, 2011 Posted January 19, 2011 I'm curious to see what they would do with either the Dauntless or the Endeavor. It would also be nice to get a good model of the Port Royal fort, something with at least 2000 bricks. Quote
legobeard Posted January 19, 2011 Posted January 19, 2011 (edited) Hello, I have an update on the new LEGO pirates of the carribean sets. I had a video in my video sugestions box on youtube. lt.Gonville brickhead Posted January 19, 2011 Posted January 19, 2011 The only difference I see is in the Isle de muerta. Quote
Erdbeereis Posted January 19, 2011 Posted January 19, 2011 This isn't really anything new. I'll merge it with the PoTC thread. Quote
Delta 38 Posted January 20, 2011 Posted January 20, 2011 Interesting. I didn't save any of the pictures, but from what I remember, the small sets were fairly good. Well, this definitely makes up for the previous Pirates line. I only bought the two impulse sets and regretted not getting others. Quote

Ah, the cardinal rule of Lego: Never not buy what you might regret not buying later. (In the real world, the cardinal rule would be less confusingly worded) Edited January 20, 2011 by David Thomsen Quote

Diamondback Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 Be nice to know if LEGO and Disney actually put some effort into recreating the historical QAR, or if it's just a "make something up that looks cool regardless of plausibility and slap the name on it", another case of Dr. Malcolm's snark about "...you've patented it and packaged it and slapped it on a plastic lunch pail and now you're selling..." prateek Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 Do I see a sea Monster? In QAR? I don't see a monster. All I see is the skeleton figure head. Quote
