What Will 8081 "Extreme Cruiser" Be?

80 members have voted

  1. 1. What kind of vehicle do you think the 8081 "Extreme Cruiser" set will be?

    • Motorcycle or Trike (for cruising the open highway)
    • Hot Rod or Lowrider (for cruising the streets)
    • High-Speed "Cigarette" Boat (for cruising the waves)
    • Rocket (for cruising the universe)
    • Cruiser-Class Ship (like those used in the Navy)
    • Star Wars Attack Cruiser (built Technic-style); there have been Star Wars Technic sets in the past.

    • None of the above

thanks ondra!

The picture quality is bad, but for me it looks like a Range rover with 81.6x38 r rims. but he rubber seems more narrow than the 81.6x38 r rubber. hopefully next time are coming better pics to see it clear.

edit:

why is the confidential stamp from 2010? is this not a 2h2011 model?

I think those tyres are the ones from 8262.

This is surprising, because normally there are 2 >1000 piece sets released in the 2H. I will buy this ONLY if it has full independent suspension, otherwise it is just another 8262/8296/8048.

Looks good, think i'll get thois one. I'm pretty sure it does have full independant suspention, at least, that's what the rumors are in the comments at TechnicBRICKs.

I like the model, but I don't understand why it would be called "Extreme Cruiser". The "Extreme" nomenclature has been used originally with the 8465 "Extreme Off-Roader", a dune buggy, and again with 8297 "Extreme Off-Roader 2", a 4x4 truck. This one is another truck, but "cruiser"? Maybe this is a reference to the Toyota Land Cruiser.

I see that Paul (Crowkillers) has posted on TB on his observations of the set.

For me, I'll get this set if it has the new CV joints.

I see that Paul (Crowkillers) has posted on TB on his observations of the set.

Here was what he said and he had a few good points.

Judging by the small black panels in the front, this is a medium sized model. Maybe 15 studs wide. The wheels are definitely not the ones off of the 8297, they are much smaller.

I do see some new black panels on it... I really hope that it has some 19L black flex axles... But that is just wishful thinking...

One thing that I would like to point out is that it is using the smooth toggle joints for the top corners of the windshield in gray... This is quite odd because these do come in black(In fact I have about 20 of them, but they are very hard to come by)

I am almost certain that when the official pictures come out, that these will be using the black ones, which is great because that is a very rare piece...

It also says "Limited Edition" on the side of the box... Whatever that is supposed to mean..

-Paul

I have to admit, I hadn't even noticed the light grey connectors at the top of the windshield until this. I think Paul is right, they will probably replace them with black. Didn't the 8041 race truck also say limited edition on it? Normally when a manufacturer places limited edition on a product, that means that it is limited to a certain number that are produced. The 8041 race truck is still available at Lego Shop At Home. I just think they do this to help sell sets that they feel may are somewhat weak.

I'm excited to see the large black panels. I've been waiting a while for Lego to finally make those panels in black! Woohoo!

I think the tire size is 68.7x34r (same size as the front tires on the backhoe set).

Limited Edition is one of the things TLG stick on the boxes of sets that are exclusive to Lego and certain other stores, in the case of 8041 that was Toys 'R' Us, at least in the UK.

yeah i thought this was gonna take the same spot as the race truck steering and drive independent suspension for sure maybe those short suspension arms from the 8858 set not much on functionality but sure looks nice

i just looked again look at the headlights could it have pf lights??

The image has gone but there is a rough translation now available:

With this sturdy car to get everywhere. Give to the toughest terrain and try the realistic four-wheel suspension, which handles all inequalities. Open the hood and check the moving pistons. The car has opening doors and trunk. It can be converted to a modified off-roader.

Suspension

V6 or V8 engine

Doors, hood/bonnet and Tailgate open

Oops just realised this has been posted already...

At this price, I am satisfied with a well-styled body, working suspension, steering, and movable pistons. Out of curiosity, what other functions were people hoping for in a midsize SUV model? I might have liked to see a winch or larger tires, but that is about it.
