Piranha Posted April 23, 2011 Posted April 23, 2011 Wow great work, I really like how you managed to integrate, System City, Modular Buildings, even castle and sets from the past in a layout, which is a hard to accomplish and has always bothered me as I like things to complement (a reason why I never bought any modular buildings as of today). I wish I could do something like this but I don't have the space, baseplates or track required, but I am slowly working to something like this one day. Some sets I still need to get are the Trains, track, Bank etc. But enough and lets look at what you have done and some suggestions. I really like the Farm area But my favorite part is the beach, imagine though a Cargo ship while your swimming, maybe a harbor area? Also some wind surfers and other small watercraft and expand the upcoming marina to hold more boats ( maybe a Cabin Cruiser?) The collectible minifigs, I always try to get the ones that fit into the city the best and they are all very detailed, I also get figs from other sets like Agents and the next space theme which have some good Civilians, which I find is the hardest thing to come by Overall it looks great! The Yellow Brick Posted April 25, 2011 Author Posted April 25, 2011 (edited) Thx guys, Im building an updated version of that garage. got a second tow truck, so i needed more space When you have finished it, will you be posting it here on eurobricks Wow great work, I really like how you managed to integrate, System City, Modular Buildings, even castle and sets from the past in a layout, which is a hard to accomplish and has always bothered me as I like things to complement (a reason why I never bought any modular buildings as of today). Thanks Macoco, I'm glad you like my city. alot of people have found the different styles of buildings odd, But I think I have finally found the best place for them. like medieval buildings near the farm, The modular in the middle and the modern city and creator dotted around the place. I did try to put some of the best civilian collectible minifigures in the city but just trying to find the place where they would fit in is the hardest. I'm looking forward to the alien conquest line as they have some excellent civilian figures in. Oh and I've also made a plan of what the beach will look like when it's completed - Purple box - The marina will be placed here Orange box - The creator light house will be here Red box - Will have the harbor in. The grey blobs - Is a rock wall which will separate the harbor and the beach Edited April 25, 2011 by The Yellow Brick Quote
lightningtiger Posted April 25, 2011 Posted April 25, 2011 Well 'TYB' I look forward to your harbour additions especially the lighthouse being included. Brick On 'The Yellow Brick' ! Quote
The Yellow Brick Posted April 26, 2011 Author Posted April 26, 2011 Okay I've made a few adjustments to the beach end in order to get the new modular building in. This is what I originally planned but then I realized it wont let me fit the new modular pet shop in the layout so I got rid of some curved road plates and now I have this - Any Questions, Suggestions feel free to post them Quote
lightningtiger Posted April 26, 2011 Posted April 26, 2011 Er, 'TYB' a straight road plate would be better, because cars will drive straight into the ocean ! Keep on building 'TYB' and totally Brick On ! Quote

lightningtiger Posted April 26, 2011 Posted April 26, 2011 Thanks Lightningtiger, I might just add a small barrier to stop them from plunging into sea maybe a rock wall or something like that. Well that will be good......something to crash into on a blind corner ! I would need to see what the road looks like with a rock pile in front of it.....talking about a dead end ! Brick On 'TYB' ! I've just started building a wall around the harbor, heres what I've got so far - I plan to make the wall higher along the front. Once again any suggestions or questions feel free to post them Quote
LAKAbricks Posted April 26, 2011 Posted April 26, 2011 (edited) Hi TYB! Interesting changes, you are making there. Now you have moved the Grand Emporium down to the harbour/beach. Maybe you should put the cafe corner/hotel there instead. Then the guests can book a room with an ocean view and then, maybe, you could make a promenade in front of the hotel. Edit: Just correcting a word spelled wrong. Edited April 26, 2011 by laka Quote

That's a really good idea 'Laka' Thanks for that. I'll move them soon when I get a chance Oh and I'll try and make a small promenade in front of the hotel. The Yellow Brick Posted April 26, 2011 Author Posted April 26, 2011 Yet another thing added to the harbor today. , I've fixed the rock wall and added some height to it by using some brown bricks. Once again today any suggestions or questions feel free to post them Quote
The Yellow Brick Posted April 27, 2011 Author Posted April 27, 2011 As Laka suggested that I should swap the Grand emporium with the Café Corner, So I was wondering which do you think looks better nearer the beach the GE or the CC ? Or After actually moving them I have to say the GE looks better nearer the beach, I'm not sure why maybe its the colour scheme But what do you think. P.S Sorry for the double post. Quote
lightningtiger Posted April 27, 2011 Posted April 27, 2011 Ah, now the roadway leading off would suit the new harbour set to a tea ! I prefer the cafe to the department store by the ocean......why ? there are more cafe's nearer to the beach than department stores. Just like on the Gold Coast ! Keep going 'TYB' and Brick On too ! Ghandidcm Posted April 27, 2011 Posted April 27, 2011 "The Yellow Brick" First I would like to say: GOOD JOB!!! I really like your town. The choice between the GE and CC is really difficult, but I agree with "Lightningtiger". The CC does look nicer by the beach (it is also the logical choice). Brick on! Quote
RubeusHagrid Posted April 27, 2011 Posted April 27, 2011 I would definitely go for the CC, it just looks better to me. Quote
The Yellow Brick Posted April 27, 2011 Author Posted April 27, 2011 looks like everybody like the Café corner closer to the beach I'll keep them where they are for now but when the pet shop is released and I know what it looks likes I will be moving some of the other buildings around. I will try and brighten up the Café Corners exterior up, by adding some more tables and chairs outside. I'll probally add some flowers outside the windows aswell Hopefully to make it look more welcoming. Quote
lightningtiger Posted April 27, 2011 Posted April 27, 2011 Don't forget the glass safety screens along the pavement to shield the dinners from the spray of the ocean and crazied drunks ! Oh, I suggest a couple of scratch-builds for you, ice-cream shop or what we call in Oz a milk bar, a boat dealer and a fishing tackle & bait shop....being so close to the ocean and beach. Brick On 'TYB' ! Quote
Captain Bayonet Posted April 28, 2011 Posted April 28, 2011 CC is definitely better near the beach, more business! GE looks great but CC is better. Keep the Brick Alive! ~Bayonet Quote

Brick On 'TYB' ! I never knew you called them 'milk bars', Well I guess you learn something new everyday . Some small shops along the beach front sounds interesting, I will build a few soon. The glass safety screens will be an interesting thing aswell, Not sure how I could build them but I'll give them a go Thanks again Lightnigtiger! Quote
The Yellow Brick Posted April 29, 2011 Author Posted April 29, 2011 Layout Before I start again I apologize for the double post . Okay heres another update. So as Lightningtiger suggested a shield from the ocean spray Cranberry juice , Some small stalls near the beach and something to stop drivers going into the harbor area I now have this - I know I said I'll keep the GE there but after a while the CC just looks better A folding barrier to stop people driving into the harbor Birds eye view of the outside café area The shields to stop the Spray of water Oh and also notice the flowers outside the windows. C & C welcome as usual. Quote
Gregorovich Posted April 29, 2011 Posted April 29, 2011 This is looking amazing, The Yellow Brick! The shields are pretty good, and I love the little area with the barrier. Well done, I can't wait for the the next update! Quote

The Yellow Brick Posted May 5, 2011 Author Posted May 5, 2011 Finished building the bait shop the other day and here it is - Theres a small sink, Two tubs of bait and some scales + The small cash register. I plan to add some more bait tubs and probably some more details to the actual shop itself. Some more views - C & C welcome Quote
