lightningtiger Posted May 5, 2011 Posted May 5, 2011 Very nice 'TYB', piece of advice would be making a 8x16 tackle shop with rods out the front selling the bait, because would you buy ice cream from someone right next to a fresh bait seller eh ? Keep going 'TYB' (oh, nice looking safety screens too ) and Brick On ! Quote
LEGO Guy Bri Posted May 6, 2011 Posted May 6, 2011 Great new additions to your city. Can't wait to see more! Maybe some photos of the east side? Keep up the great work Quote

Keep going 'TYB' (oh, nice looking safety screens too ) and Brick On ! Thanks 'Lightningtiger', I wouldn't worry about people having to smell the bait while enjoying an ice cream... as lego figures don't have noses . I did think about placing it somewhere else but that was the only place that was available. Great new additions to your city. Can't wait to see more! Maybe some photos of the east side? Keep up the great work Thank you 'Leg Godt Gud'. I'll post some more pictures of the other side of the town soon. I haven't done anything to it lately but I'll try and put the new creator hillside house down that area. Quote
HighFlyer Posted May 7, 2011 Posted May 7, 2011 Thank you 'Leg Godt Gud'. I'll post some more pictures of the other side of the town soon. I haven't done anything to it lately but I'll try and put the new creator hillside house down that area. I think you should place the hillside house and perhaps some of the other Creator houses towards the sea. It's more peaceful and IMO a more suitable place for beautiful houses like that. Then maybe the garage and service station away from the "peaceful area"? Those places tend to be kinda noisy. Anyway, awesome city, looking forward to forthcoming updates! Quote

Anyway, awesome city, looking forward to forthcoming updates! Now that I think about it, the Hillside house would look better near the beach. I've made a few adjustments to the garage so now I have a gap with needs filling with something. Might move the Ice cream parlor, so I can fit the HS house in. Moved the bait shop away from the ice cream parlor and the Creator Lighthouse will go directly behind the bait shop. And then heres the space where the HS house will go. Any questions about anything, feel free to post them Quote
LAKAbricks Posted May 7, 2011 Posted May 7, 2011 It's really interesting to follow the discussion, the tips and advices - and see how the city changes. It's almost interactive, user-defined MOC'ing It makes my fingers itch... I want to build a city as well And just now, I noticed, you have removed the windmill (but not the base). - Better late than never (that I notice it... ) As HighFlyer says, it could be really nice to have a residential area at the coast. If the local authorities allows it, you could put the ice cream parlor closer to the beach, eventually with a promenade, as I suggested earlier. And maybe you should turn the bait shop 90 degrees to the left, so it's facing the beach. Alternatively, you could move it to the harbour area (on a distance from the hotel, otherwise the guests will just complain to the poor receptionist ). It would also benefit eventual fisher boats going out from there. Quote
Fuzzylegobricks Posted May 8, 2011 Posted May 8, 2011 Great update! I love the plan for your layout. Quote
Piranha Posted May 8, 2011 Posted May 8, 2011 Looking good, I also like the idea of beach area houses, Pool Side Paradise anyone? What set number is the HS House? Are you getting the Marina set? If not a lifeguard tower MOC would be nice w/ATV . Quote

The windmill will be going back in, I just took it out over the past couple of days because it was quite big and I kept tipping it over. It will be back up soon. The ice cream parlor is one of those MOC's where it is best viewed from a certain angle which can be a pain when it comes to positioning. When I get the HS house in, I might have a better pictures on where to put it. I have actually tried to move the bait shop to the harbor area, but there wasn't anywhere it could go. Now that I think of it if I buy some more straight train tracks and make the track which runs behind the modulars and the harbor completely straight then I could put some baseplate's extending out from the road to create a space for the harbor. I'll try and get a picture of what I mean. Looking good, I also like the idea of beach area houses, Pool Side Paradise anyone? What set number is the HS House? Are you getting the Marina set? If not a lifeguard tower MOC would be nice w/ATV . Thanks 'Macoco', The HS house is 5771. and yes I will be getting the marina set, along with some of the smaller harbor sets. Quote
gogocar Posted May 8, 2011 Posted May 8, 2011 Very nice city TYB. It looks really good, very roomy and big, it's not crowded . Are you getting the Pet shop when it comes out? Quote

Vindicare Posted May 8, 2011 Posted May 8, 2011 I'm so jealous of the room you have to build your city. I need to quit looking at this thread. Very cool city, I like the layout of buildings, looks good and realistic. Where'd you move the wind turbine to? I think it looked a little strange there in the middle of town. I know it's hard to figure out where to put some things and make them look realistic and aesthetic at the same time. Quote

I try to get the buildings in the right place so it doesn't become to crowded. I'm not sure if I should put the wind turbine in the city anymore, as it's been out along time I've started to get used to it being there. What do you think should it be in or out? Quote

I'm not sure if I should put the wind turbine in the city anymore, as it's been out along time I've started to get used to it being there. What do you think should it be in or out? Ya know, I'd have to say no. Only because whenever you see a wind turbine(for me, at least) you typically see them in bunches on a hill out in a field on the highway. So, with that thinking, I don't see them fitting in a downtown/residential area. So, I'm not too sure on the matter... Quote
The Yellow Brick Posted May 9, 2011 Author Posted May 9, 2011 Time for another small update - I've extended the side near the CC and harbor, to provide a new place for the bait shop. Now that I have put it here it looks alot better. Just look at that gap between the CC and FB. Cannot wait for the Pet shop to be released on the 10th C & C welcome. Quote
HighFlyer Posted May 9, 2011 Posted May 9, 2011 I am also excited about the Pet Shop, but have to get the Grand Emporium first before it runs away! Apparently it's to be d/c before Fire Brigade. Anyway, can't wait to see all the new creator, city, and of course the PS in your wonderful city! One question: where did you get that table, and how much was it? It's perfect for my needs. LEGO gets way to dusty on the floor... Quote

The table was actually specially made by a family friend, and it was free You could always check your local hardware store to buy some wood as tables are pretty easy to make. Just need to make the right measurements and then on it's quite easy. Or you could find a companies why specialists in making different types of furniture. Quote
Vindicare Posted May 9, 2011 Posted May 9, 2011 (edited) Yellow, if you're set on putting the lighthouse in, I would recommend you buy 2 sets then. Because I just got through building the alternate boathouse and I think it would fit well on that beach of yours by the pier. Edited May 9, 2011 by Legocrazy81 Quote

I was going to use the 2nd one for the café in it, I don't like the look of the lifeboat house. but I guess I could MOD Quote
The Yellow Brick Posted May 10, 2011 Author Posted May 10, 2011 After buying the Creator log cabin I decided to put it near the farm area which is currently being remodeled. Also today I ordered the Pet shop so that will be in the City in the next week or so. I'll try to get some pictures of it up once I've finished . Quote

It's actually not too bad of a building. But, the cafe would also fit well down close to the beach, much like the bait shop you have. Quote
The Yellow Brick Posted May 11, 2011 Author Posted May 11, 2011 Update time Alot of you said that the wind turbine looks out of place in the middle. So I decided to move it near the farm area - C & C welcome . Quote
