Okay I haven't been very active over the past couple of days as I have been very busy. We contacted lego about the order and said that it never went through so I had to re-order everything again. however this time it's abit smaller. I will be getting the pet shop, marina, lighthouse and the fishing boat. I am planning to order the harbour after my birthday when I hopefully get abit more money. It would be funny if they all arrived on my birthday which would kinda be like buying myself my own presents default_laugh_new.gif

So now onto the City. nothing hasn't really happened in there lately but today I've been adding a few extra things into it. Currently I'm attempting to give the pond a better look by adding some more flowers, benches and probably some trees dotted around the sides. That will most likely be finished by the time the new sets arrive.

Now there is some bad news. I will have to dismantle half of my city as the roof is leaking onto the farm so we are having a new window fitted in and hopefully the leak will be fixed. That will happened sometime in the summer and hopefully the workmen don't destroy any of my city otherwise I won't be very happy.

very nice town! and it looks like you have a lot of space for growing! one suggestion would be to add a wheel (don't know how, but thinking) on the end of the barrier close to the cafe corner: in this way when you raise and lower it, the wheel will spin and make the gate in the right position.

one question: what did you use to keep the track in place? I have seen some "little something" but I cannot understand what they are! and if you hve nailed them, why not nail the track directly?

have a nice train lego day

mrBlue

Thank you mrblue, The wheel idea sound good so I might try to put that in. to keep the track in place I'm currently using blu tack. Thats only temporarily but I will be using nails sometime in the future when it's finished, I also keep them in place with plates connected to buildings.

nothing to complicated.

P.S - I'll post a picture update once the new sets arrive.

I know I said I'd post a picture update when the new sets arrive but these are just some shots showing some changes I've made to it recently default_classic.gif -

Larger version

The Farm -

5782525419_8ed4423132_z.jpg

I've made a few changes to the farm and the first one is the layout. Moved the stables next the blacksmiths and moved the cow shed next to the road.

5783081828_87772c4aa3_z.jpg

I've raised the land on the other side of the windmill. I think it looks better as the track has that sinking feeling compared to the hight of the bricks.

Another view of the farm

Other areas of the city -

5782519725_8553d948ba_z.jpg

I've added a tree next to the garage as it looked abit plane. also added windows on the side to make it look like an actual building.

5782533807_857358e12d_z.jpg

The pond in the middle has changed slightly, I thought it looked quite plane so I added some tree's and flowers around the edges.

I still think it looks abit boring so any suggestions on how to improve it then do say.

Oh and if you look carefully you can see that the train station parking area has moved back onto that space which used empty. Now there is more room for the cars to turn around.

A small map showing the city is decorated with flowers.

C & C are welcome as always.

Next update will hopefully include the new sets.

Could you get a closer picture of the building with the bike shop sign from City Corner set on it. Looks cool.

I'll get some pictures up tomorrow for you. I do have a separate topic somewhere about that shop but I did change it abit when I put it in the city.

Looking good there 'TYB', I see the spot that the Pet Shop is going !

Keep going and Brick On !

Yep. I'm always planning ahead in my city. I might change the modulars around when the pet shop arrives as the sizes are different and the colour schemes.

Posted

Suggestion 'TYB'.....why do you pop a shopping centre in eh ?:wink:

Brick On 'TYB' ! :sweet:

I have thought of building a shopping centre in the past and it's something I'd really like to build. but my city is probably too small to have one and plus I already have the Grand emporium which really acts as the towns main shopping centre.

When I get around to building the lower level of my town I could make one to go there.

Legocrazy81 here are the pictures of the bike shop -

I must admit I haven't been paying much attention to this building over the past couple of months and I said quite along time ago that I was going to do something to it but never got around to doing it. I will be hopefully adding a back to it.

Posted

Thank you enrgie and Igorando default_classic.gif I finally got around making the back for the bike shop so here it is -

I had some grey window frames left over from the old city fire station so I decided to use them on the back. I think it looks okay. what do you think?

5790077530_df95bba988_z.jpg

5789523629_5ff8f93643_z.jpg

I added a side door which leads to behind the counter.

5790079540_32e10d41cb_z.jpg

The interior has remained the same but I will add a few more things into it.

5790076346_b100ab3808_z.jpg

I'm also planning to patch up that massive gap at the end of the garage. It doesn't look very nice with it just open.

C & C welcome as usual.

Also according to lego S@H the order has been shipped so it might arrive on the 3rd or 4th June (Hopefully)

Nice to see your town come along so well. But the streets are a bit empty, a bunch of cars and people would make it more lively. (Though I'm sure you got that planned already...)

I will add more vehicles and minifigures to the city but I'm really lacking cars.

Most of them have been destroyed for pieces and I'm planning to make alot more, The cars which I have are mostly red and yellow so I plan to make some different coloured ones.

Nice development, your city has undergone, TYB. The backside of the bike shop is nice, I think the windows fit well. But I was thinking, if it would make sense to swap the bike shop and pizzeria. Right now, the guests at the pizzeria are facing the backside of a shop and the cars going to and from Octan. If you move it around, the guests would have a view to the park and the pond. Alternatively you can turn the pizzeria 90 degrees to the left, so it's facing the modular buildings across the street.

I have tried swapping the pizzeria and the bike shop around before but the pizzeria just don't look right there, mainly because of the height. Now I'm sure the customers wont mind looking at the back of the bike shop as I'm planning to build a small waterfall on the corner so they can look at that rather than an dirty old petrol station default_tong.gif

Time for an update.

Now when you first look at these images you might be thinking "What on earth has he done to the beach" but don't worry there's a perfect explanation to it

5791088012_801db93d44_z.jpg

The Explanation -

5790558641_5e16266475_z.jpg

Light Blue box - Is where the blue baseplate's will go (I guess you kinda already knew about that)

Lime Green Box - Is where the marina will go (Again you probably already knew about that)

Red box - Is where the blue baseplate's and Just the baseplate's, which come with the light house will be placed

Yellow box - Is where the lighthouse will go

Now another thing you might be wondering is why I've added some more water area on half of the beach, Now if I had left the water area as it is then the blue boat which comes with the marina wont be able to fit around that small pier thing which sticks out. So it will allow more space for it to move around without it having to actually move onto the beach.

I know that's abit confusing but again you will understand when the sets arrive.

Now here are some more pictures -

5791091776_f5803bbd03_z.jpg

The ice cream parlous new location

Now any questions about this very confusing update. Don't hesitate to ask default_classic.gif

Thats all for now people. More updates soon default_classic.gif.

I'm very much enjoying seeing your city growing and improving. Looking forward to seeing the harbour improve and seeing the speedboat (which I purchased today, it's great and a bargain) zipping around the ocean. Very jealous.

The shop looks good. The striped windows add a nice little something to the facade. But, I'm a bit irked by that street light there. It just doesn't look right on the back of a building next to the entrance to a car wash... I can't wait to see you're updated beach scene. I can totally see it and am continuing to get jealous picture by picture.

Damn you!

Thanks Roger Rabbit :classic:, I too am very excited for it to progress. Soon it will be completed (that's if I can't think of anything else to put in it)

Thank you Legocrazy81, I will move that light to somewhere else because now that you mention it, it does look very out of place. :classic:

Hopefully the new sets will come tomorrow and then I can put them in the city. When ever I order something new It feels like the days are going very slow and that really Annoys me when all I want them to do is arrive so I can build them. I'm sure any other Lego fan feels the same way.

I doubt it will ever be finished. Unless of course, you run out of room. And, I can't stand waiting for my Lego to come from S@H. The worst part is, do me it seems they always come on the long end of my window(3-7 days).

I am starting to run out of room now. Which is why I'm gonna start building under the table . I'm really looking forward to that. But it does really defeat the whole objective on having a table in the first place, which was to stop me bending over and hurting my back.

Oh does anybody want to see the original plan for my beach I made last year. I took the photos ages ago and there lost in my files somewhere. If so I'll try and dig them out for you.

Looking even better 'TYB', might I suggest with your ice cream kiosk.....a trans-something roof to protect people buying ice creams if the weather turns nasty.

Keep going and Brick On 'TYB' !

I do have some trans blue 8 x 8 plates lying around so I could use them to shelter the customers  I'll see what I can do.

My advice would be don't make it look too blocky, give it either the feel of ice cold/snow or waves crashing on the beach. Now I've got you thinking haven't I eh ?

I'll try not to make it blocky. I'll throw in some curved pieces to give it a nice feel to it.

I could always decorate it with some leaves and flowers like the parlour it's self, try and set a theme going.
