Gareth Posted April 10, 2011 Posted April 10, 2011 Nice to see the Mearsk train in a layout, and it's also good to see the old 4.5 track being put to good use with all the modern track. Great layout, but i bet you have to be really careful not to step on any parts though. Quote
henryhotspurs Posted April 10, 2011 Posted April 10, 2011 That is certainly alot of track! Amazing! Quote
Legoist Posted April 17, 2011 Posted April 17, 2011 I would need a spare house to do such layout Good work! About the naming of stations, how about using simple words in a language that is not yours? For instance if you're german-speaking you could give them very simple names like Chateâu, Camembert, Paix... or maybe combine two of them like Chateâu-Paix. I understand that for a lot of people this sounds like a lame choice. But consider that there ARE small villages named like objects or food (the latter because the food originated from it). For example in Italy I know a small town called Paese, which means... "town"! And another called Alberi ("trees"). Then there is of course the town of Gorgonzola. Here in Finland there is a town called Nokia and so on... Quote
gifinim Posted April 17, 2011 Posted April 17, 2011 And in Austria there is a town called Fuc*ing... Seriously, ZueriHB, 10/10 for the layout and train, 11/10 for having such an understanding wife! I once suggested something similar as a joke and got the cold shoulder for a week. Quote
LEGO Guy Bri Posted April 18, 2011 Posted April 18, 2011 Great looking layout 'ZueriHB'. Love the long spans of track and a great collection of train sets Quote

Actually, it was her idea. *hugs GF* And for all, Microsoft has these new Photosynth thingy. tried it out, not perfect, but usable. Also it really shows the size of it all. CLICK ME NAO! Sir E Fullner Posted April 21, 2011 Posted April 21, 2011 I have to say somethig, pal. I am awfully envious of your layout. Quote

Thanks, but I couldn't do it without my GF's permission, does wonders for your hobby if your partner is into it too (Okay, not that much as I). Edited April 21, 2011 by ZueriHB Quote
CarrollFilms Posted April 24, 2011 Posted April 24, 2011 The layout is just amazing. I love the mertroliner out of all of the trains. Quote
ZueriHB Posted May 31, 2011 Author Posted May 31, 2011 (edited) We decided to dismantle the entire layout. Not only to rebuilt it, but also to clean everything, from track to floor. And while the trains are parked, here my new take on a main station, no buildings what so ever, just trying out some point configurations: Notes: I use double crossovers in a single configurations, so I can run trains parallel, red beams indicate disabled points. EDIT: fixed broken images. Edited May 31, 2011 by ZueriHB Quote
enrgie Posted June 2, 2011 Posted June 2, 2011 (edited) I love your work! In fact I just joined this forum to ask you this question: I saw you have really long trains. Is it better to buy more train sets or just order the bricks to create the coaches? Thanks again and am looking forward to more pictures and videos! Edited June 2, 2011 by enrgie Quote
AussieJimbo Posted June 2, 2011 Posted June 2, 2011 I use double crossovers in a single configurations, so I can run trains parallel, red beams indicate disabled points. Me too most of the time but I don't disable them. I recently pulled down most of my big floor layout. I had a dual track main and by default had points and crossovers set up for safeworking so that any out of control trains always end up being switched onto one of the main lines travelling in the correct direction. :classic: Quote

I just bought a second train, could really use the additional PF stuff. Me too most of the time but I don't disable them. I recently pulled down most of my big floor layout. Additional Photos and Videos are currently uploading. New Version of my wye crossing. Quote
Piranha Posted June 5, 2011 Posted June 5, 2011 great work! I really like your layout. how much track is used currently? Quote
ZueriHB Posted June 5, 2011 Author Posted June 5, 2011 great work! I really like your layout. how much track is used currently? About 512 straight track plus brickloads of curves and flex-track. And I think 12 pairs of switches and 5 double crossovers. Quote
AussieJimbo Posted June 6, 2011 Posted June 6, 2011 (edited) Eek, that's a serious hoard of straights, ZueriHB. I guess you need heaps them for those nice wide radius curves. Too much track is barely enough anyway. ;-) Complete removal of my lounge room layout and the branch line to the engine shed and sidings in the Lego room today ahead of visiting tradesmen. Vacuumed out those ephemeral marks of the raised line. Turned out they didn't need access to the house at all. Oh well, the floor needed a clean and now I can have some fun building a new layout. :classic: Edited June 6, 2011 by AussieJimbo Quote

ZueriHB Posted June 9, 2011 Author Posted June 9, 2011 New Mainstation, tell me what you think. Almost entirely built out of the current 'train station'. Still needs a building. Quote
ZueriHB Posted September 26, 2011 Author Posted September 26, 2011 (edited) After a nice trip to Legoland Germany, I got a lot of pieces suitable for station building. Of course, it's nothing like Sokratesz' fine classic town station for 12v trains. But it'll do. Next to this station, let's call it W, is a new cargo port for all kinds of cargo, including passengers: Also, some old stations got a face lifting: I'm afraid to commit to such drastic measures, but some non-TLG elements had to be used to maximize enjoyment: Edited September 26, 2011 by ZueriHB Quote
roamingstop Posted September 27, 2011 Posted September 27, 2011 This is insane... no other way to describe it. And not time to watch it all... Just glad you slow down for the front door... Quote
LegoSjaak Posted September 27, 2011 Posted September 27, 2011 Well ZueriHB, i see you layed your hands on a few 3677 Red Cargotrains...I thought i was lucky to have 3 Green/White boxcars..but you have even more... Did you sell almost all engines, or are they just not in your layout?? The mainstation looks nice, but maybe a somewhat larger building would lokk better. But if you do so, then you come to the point...only track and trains..or also a City with station etcetera. If you decide to put extra buildings along your layout then you have another choice....should you add roadplates or buildingplates...or just put the track on your appartment-floor??? Anyway... i love to see your trains rushing through the appartment. Although i have about 12 trains now, only 2 can run at the same time...because else they will sure crash!! You keep up the status of Switzerland as a train-country!!! Greetz, LegoSjaak Quote
Sokratesz Posted September 27, 2011 Posted September 27, 2011 I must've missed the post but do you have some closeups of that doubledecker passenger train? - Sok. Quote
ZueriHB Posted September 27, 2011 Author Posted September 27, 2011 Well ZueriHB, i see you layed your hands on a few 3677 Red Cargotrains...I thought i was lucky to have 3 Green/White boxcars..but you have even more... Did you sell almost all engines, or are they just not in your layout?? I only bought 3 sets of 3677, I got some spare cars and loading stations from roaming studio and also bought some additional cars from bricklink. But I only assembled two 3677 (both with LiPo). My GF doesn't allow my to build a city in her flat, mostly because of space reasons. So currently no buildings whatsoever. Anyway... i love to see your trains rushing through the appartment. Although i have about 12 trains now, only 2 can run at the same time...because else they will sure crash!! Technically, you can't run trains interdependent on my layout, you have to constantly juggle between them, see me juggle different trains at the same time. It's quite challenging. And even harder to juggle if two trains share the same channel (happens a lot). While shooting videos, we had some crashes, derailments and accidents. You keep up the status of Switzerland as a train-country!!! Greetz, LegoSjaak Why thank you! I must've missed the post but do you have some closeups of that doubledecker passenger train? - Sok. Certainly! In my MOC's thread are some more Pictures. Quote
