I had, however, noticed that there seemed to be a little animosity around the forums (or is that fora?). Mostly this came from former members. It just seems like the Lego Community has gotten a little grumpy lately. What with the changes at Lego and all, it seems like a lot of people are not happy as they used to be. I know I am feeling a bit down about the state of Lego too. :( Maybe we can get some kind of a support group together, like what they've gotten for those people who were so upset with our election results? ;) My real thoughts of fbtb is that the site have lost the big greatness it had.I Quote

I've just checked my Peeron inventory :$ Totals: 708 Sets (452 unique), 145,925 Parts, $14,923.85, 1,105 Minifigs. And this of cause does not include Pick-a-brick, Bricklink orders, BULK boxes and all the other strange way to buy Lego *wacko* I think it is time to stop buying more. Or maybee not :D Quote

Or maybee not :D I have no idea how much my collection is worth other than a good guess for Star Wars. It has to be at least $30,000. Some of the sets and bulk bricks I have bought at half price and some at a premium price. Then there are the large 60 lbs collections I have bought on Ebay that are worth thousands if you were to count how many sets make up the collection or priced by piece. On a side note... I myself like FBTB as well as this site. I don't look at the whole FBTB vs. Eurobricks as a fight. I look at it as a friendly competition. FBTB has lost a little of its luster when Tim walked away (when are they ever going to change the poll) but the team that runs it now do a good job. I know that FBTB are trying to do the right thing with their "Respect the Brick" policy and I respect them for it. My one true complaint is the megablocking and fighting about what not to post in the forums. It just became too much to handle. What I love about this site are the people that post to this forum. We all get along much better than most other forums I have ever posted to. I feel like we are all one big happy family and are always ready to welcome the newest member. I also have to thank FBTB because that is where I found the link to this site. :D Please lets not forget that sites like Eurobricks, FBTB, BOTB, Peeron, Classic Castle, Lugnet, ILTCO, etc. are all fans based sites that were created by fans for fans and make no money and rarely get donations. The people that run these sites spend their own cash and use their free time to update the site and post to the forums and do it because they love to. I started and ran a huge fan based website for the Dave Matthews Band for five years until I just had enough of people complaining and I shut it down. It just became too much for me to handle and at the end was no longer fun for me. I would hate to see this happen to any of the Lego sites. We all Quote

Changing the colour of the brick after 30 years is pretty megablock especially for no reason. However, I would like to add that I use Lugnet's database feature, which is pretty close to accurate on piece counts (most of the time). I have over 999 sets on my set list, over 180,000 pieces, and my collection is more than $1000... actually its probably close to $12,000 US now, assuming average $2000 US per year x 5 years I have been "actively" collecting, plus my childhood collection. :$ Now starwars lego, that's significantly smaller... that's probably barely $300 worth, with about 15 to 20 sets, with around 3000 pieces. |-/ Ben M.
