Commodore Hornbricker Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 HMS Meteor is the sister ship to Death. In researching these smaller vessels I discovered the smaller the ship the outlandish and audacious the name. Like much of what I build these two bomb ketches were inspired by the Horatio Hornblower novels. I believe the bomb ketches were featured in Commodore Hornbricker (my favorite of the series). Quote
Captain Blackmoor Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 Two of them! This coloursheme looks great too, but I'm not too fond of the red used at the stern. Perhaps something like dark blue fits better. Your fleet keeps growing and growing Commodore, I spot many ships in the background! Great work! Quote
Pudz426 Posted February 24, 2011 Posted February 24, 2011 (edited) two ship in a row.. even three with the Hoy.. oh, not forget about the other ships in the fleet, and the fort in the background! i like the tumblehome shape and the curve, even it's simpler without the gunport i spot also an interesting 4 horses wagon in the background, a nice additional for the port Edited February 24, 2011 by Pudz426 Quote
BrickPerfection Posted February 24, 2011 Posted February 24, 2011 That is a nice surprise, a nice ship WIP once again after a while where just too much LDD stuff has floated around! And it's part of a much bigger fleet too! If I may criticize a little: I think both the curve and the tumblehome are too much. In addition the deck should be wider in the middle while the tumblehome would be of a similar amount along the sides. Currently the deck is even wider at the stern where it should be narrowest. I also have to agree with Captain Blackmoor that the red colors used on the stern could be improved. But she's coming along rather nicely and I'm sure with two sister ships you'll find it much easier to make experiments and significant improvements (at least I did ). Quote
