tj19941994 Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 Hi, I recently decided that many of the Hogwarts sets I want just probably won't be made. Now in response to that I have negun sending bricklink order after order getting parts in to create my own "sets" which retain the essence of the battle for Hogwarts and the castle. Now, I have already completed two towers which are filled with misc. stuff, i.e. Ravenclaw common room, huffelpuff common room, the hospital wing, defence against the dark arts class, potions class, transfiguration class, DADA teachers office. I will post pictures of these shortly. So, to the point, I want to create a chamber of secrets, It will be 3 stories high and I imagine them to be thus-like: 1st floor: Chamber of secrets. I would like it to have mostly just a head and possibly a way for it to open at the mouth. Problem being that to make it work in regard to scale, this room must be no more than 9 bricks high. I have tried making a smaller version of the 2002 head however it is still very tall and I feel it does not create the right idea of what the head looks like. I would also expect it to have either black snakes on the walls as I do not want to reuse he 2002 printed wall pieces. 2nd floor: the place where Ron and Lockhart get stuck. I plan on this having either a trapdoor function like the first set which blocks the path or doing a wall which can be spun, or doing a brick drop feature. Please tell me if you have any other ideas on how it could be accomplished. 3rd floor: the bathroom. This roo I intend to be mostly taken up by two sins with mirrors which can be pulled back in the same way in which the bookcase works in the 4th castle. Once pulled back they would lead to a small hole which a minifig can jump down to reach the lower level. I am also about to set my order for a brickbuilt basilisk because the old one feels so bulky now. So, essentially, I would like all the ideas you have, mostly regarding the head. I continually build then destroy bases of this tower and cannot seem to find one which tick all the boxes. I will post pictures as soon as my camera in up and running again and for now would love to hear some ideas!!! Thanks! Quote
Primusman Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 Wow, sounds great! I'd love to see pictures of the towers once your camera is up and running again. Right now, I don't have any ideas for the head. Quote
Kyp Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 now that we're on the subject i wanted to ask if anyone has any ideas to create a Moaning Myrtle minifigure.. Your project sounds pretty neat so far, i'd love to see some pictures. I think helping you might be easier if you give us some more detail on how much space there is and how high the stories are. Professor Trelawney Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 This Sounds really cool! I can't wait to see the finished product! Quote
buddy Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 (edited) This project sounds great and it will be interesting to see pics of it. I am also about to set my order for a brickbuilt basilisk because the old one feels so bulky now. Here is an example of a brick built basilisk built by one of the designers for the Harry Potter Years 1-4 video game (his flickr name is bricktrix): i wanted to ask if anyone has any ideas to create a Moaning Myrtle minifigure.. I seem to remember that Sandy (a member here) had Moaning Mrytle as her avatar in the Harry Potter avatar contest here, and she used this hairpiece from the Lego Indian sets: And for the head she used a Harry Potter head. I must say that these pieces looked great and just like Moaning Myrtle. Hope I've helped! ~buddy~ Edited February 28, 2011 by buddy Quote
joeee Posted March 1, 2011 Posted March 1, 2011 In the film, it seems the tunnel leading to the Chamber of Secrets where Ron and Lockhart get stuck are on the same level. So if you want to save from building so high, two levels is good enough and more accurate :D Quote
yourohbricks Posted March 1, 2011 Posted March 1, 2011 Yeah, two levels should suffice. In the film, it seems the tunnel leading to the Chamber of Secrets where Ron and Lockhart get stuck are on the same level. So if you want to save from building so high, two levels is good enough and more accurate :D Quote
tj19941994 Posted March 1, 2011 Author Posted March 1, 2011 Yea, my reasoning for 3 was that I thought a 2 story build might look a it odd from the outside. However I had an idea of having a different kind of build which I wil build an incredibly basic version of so we can get some ideas. Quote
Ultron Posted March 1, 2011 Posted March 1, 2011 Also for a moaning myrtle, in lego hp years 1-4 her head appears to be the same as professor Trewlaney's and her hair is the same as the old snapes. That could work unless you were thinking of making her look gray or if you wanted a more custom built figure. Quote
Gregorovich Posted March 1, 2011 Posted March 1, 2011 Sounds really interesting, I can't wait to see pictures! I'm not sure how tall the room should be, sorry. For Myrtle I think you should use the Indian or Irina Spalko hair, and the Peeves head (I know it doesn't have glasses, but it's sad and grey). Good luck with it! Quote
Marco Cancellieri Posted March 2, 2011 Posted March 2, 2011 Hi, maybe you can find useful this based on set 4730: My link It was my first Moc and it isn't built very well... but maybe the idea can be interesting Good work, please give us a link to see your mocs! Quote
Internets Posted March 16, 2011 Posted March 16, 2011 I toyed with this idea but only ever got as far as a little bathroom vignette: Quote
