Captain M Posted March 4, 2011 Posted March 4, 2011 I have sets 8992, 8993, 8994, 8995, and 8996. I have taken them apart several times to attempt to create a massive MOC, but every time I try I fail and disgracefully assemble them together (again). So I need ideas. What would you like to see with all of these sets combined together? Thanks. Quote
Aanchir Posted March 4, 2011 Posted March 4, 2011 I have sets 8992, 8993, 8994, 8995, and 8996. I have taken them apart several times to attempt to create a massive MOC, but every time I try I fail and disgracefully assemble them together (again). So I need ideas. What would you like to see with all of these sets combined together? Thanks. I'm not sure. While I enjoy MOCing with the parts of sets, I usually try to work with just a few smaller sets at a time (or just one larger set). Sometimes I throw together all the sets from a theme to MOC with the parts, but when I do I rarely come up with anything (it helps that most of the themes I collect, as a point of distinction from BIONICLE, include sets with easily-compatible color schemes). If I could make a recommendation, I'd say start by limiting yourself to just two sets (Cendox V1 and Skopio XV-1 could potentially be very easily compatible, I think, since one of the vehicle colors on each matches one of the pilot colors on the opposite one). Mess around with this limited parts pool until you come up with a creative use for some of the parts-- preferably one that you can bring to fruition with just the parts of those two sets. Then, if you come to a place where a part from one of the other sets would really, really be useful, feel free to harvest a few parts from that set (or even take the set that contains the necessary parts apart entirely). A secondary advantage to limiting yourself to one or two sets is that it's much more impressive if you can make something unique and innovative with so few parts. Since Skopio's one of the set's in question (along with Cendox), one structural suggestion I can make is to make a loop of those tread pieces, with the clips/"teeth" on the outside. Then, you can use the remaining parts to create a one-wheeled vehicle like General Grievous pilots in Star Wars Episode III (ROTS). That's what I tried a year or so ago when I had all my 2009 BIONICLE sets up at college with me. I got some good progress with just Skopio's pieces, but the end result wasn't quite pretty enough to be worth photographing (and I didn't have much photographic experience at that time). If you can get a good structure together with just a few sets' parts, and then can finish it off with an aesthetically-pleasing exterior, you can come up with something really worth presenting! I look forward to seeing what you come up with! Quote
