garrettb Posted May 5, 2011 Posted May 5, 2011 So somebody else convinced me that this was THE forum for LEGO lovers worldwide, and I finally joined today. This is my first post! Anyways, I am the builder and animator behind these shorts. I am so happy that everyone has enjoyed these, and of course respect the opinions of those that have criticisms! I really tried to create original yet accurate sets and a convincing sense of depth. I slaved on this one alone in my garage for five months to get it done! LEGO gave me the script, approved my storyboards and rough set pics, and added sound and cgi fx after my raw animation. It's been an honor to create these -official- "Star Wars in LEGO" animations! Hopefully we also made a tragedy (plotwise) a little more light-hearted and fun. Thanks again everyone, let me hear what you think! ;) oh, and May the fourth be with you! Quote
blksuperman2 Posted May 5, 2011 Posted May 5, 2011 I liked it and think it's right up there w/ the first one. Hilarious. Quote

Love how the animation kept up with the pace of the dialogue and yet we still got to see some pretty sweet sets. I think the main problem lies not with TLG but with the fact that the PT just doesn't form as good or complete a story as the OT, and the plot is much more complicated, which is hard to recreate in an adaption this short. prateek Posted May 5, 2011 Posted May 5, 2011 It's pretty sad how there wasn't a single official Padme figure... Quote
garrettb Posted May 5, 2011 Posted May 5, 2011 It's pretty sad how there wasn't a single official Padme figure... You know, we set the precedent in the first one to use the flesh colored figures. That really put me in a pickle for this trilogy, as there are huge gaping holes of characters in LEGO's product line-up, especially new flesh colored characters. But even I complained to them about the lack of any good Padme figures, much less a formal "Queen Amidalla" -just ridiculous I thought! Still, I thought I winged 'em pretty good! ;) Quote
XimenaPaulina Posted May 5, 2011 Posted May 5, 2011 Well, I thought it was time to dig up this topic seeing as it came out: Thanks for sharing this CloneyO! It's nice to finally see this PT version, but I have to agree the OT one was much better in terms of having more action and less 'dead air'. Though it's good to see some unique builds there like the Naboo Royal Starship and a custom Amidala in black outfit. I wanted to put this in that comprehensive Official SW Videos thread, but I can't seem to find it. Shame on me. Is this the topic you were looking for? Quote
lightningtiger Posted May 5, 2011 Posted May 5, 2011 Indeed impressive, but not as good as the first mini movie. May the brick be with you ! Quote
Masked Builder Posted May 5, 2011 Posted May 5, 2011 While it was funny I too like the older one better. Still it's good to see Lego improvising on some of the models they haven't made. Quote
gogocar Posted May 5, 2011 Posted May 5, 2011 It's really great, but I liked the original better, just like the original trilogy is better than the prequels. Quote
DarthR2-D2 Posted May 5, 2011 Author Posted May 5, 2011 Yah and Episode III was not specific at all "then some bad stuff happened, and some more bad stuff happened, and they got a new bad guy..." and on and on and on. That part made it not good. I liked the look more though. Quote
Rumble Strike Posted May 5, 2011 Posted May 5, 2011 I like both of them, but agree with the consensus that the first one had a better story to tell as it was OT-based. Still, this new one did a good job, especially liked the Geonosis Arena stuff. Quote
