JINZONINGEN73 Posted June 20, 2006 Posted June 20, 2006 Know that thing in the news recently where British shop owners are purchasing high-frequency emitters to ANNOY teens out of their establishments with sound only their young ears can hear? Yeah, well here's a way to see how high your ears go. http://rapidshare.de/files/23555028/sound.rar.html Age: 32 Audible Level: 16123 (I can "feel" the sound for a bit after that, but not in a consciously aural way). This little *.exe will play a sound at whatever frequency you type in (1-20000). Just run it, type a number and hit enter (must close and re-open to change frequency). Jipay Posted June 20, 2006 Posted June 20, 2006 Interesting ! I'll complete the test as soon as I'm back home. But with 7 years of concerts and loud music, I'm not hoping the results to be good :-/ Quote
Kikuichimonji Posted June 20, 2006 Posted June 20, 2006 I'm somewhere around 17.000. Pretty annoying stuff, that sound :-P Quote
Jipay Posted June 20, 2006 Posted June 20, 2006 I still hear at 17400, I guess the frequencies detsroyed by the rock and roll music wasn't located in that area ! It's funny how those frequencies remind me of the one emited by the TV when they're on but with the volume all turned down. Quote
sam89 Posted June 20, 2006 Posted June 20, 2006 What am I doing wrong? There's not sound at all, no matter what number I type. Quote
JINZONINGEN73 Posted June 21, 2006 Author Posted June 21, 2006 No idea. Your speakers on? Did you hit enter after typing in a number? Actually, I just noticed the program shuts off if you type anything below 37, so that might be it. Start at 5000 and go up in 1000 increments. It's funny how those frequencies remind me of the one emited by the TV when they're on but with the volume all turned down. Exactly. And what's messed up is, I've met ALOT of people who have NO idea what this "tv sound" you're talking about is, thinking I'm crazy. I can hear a monitor turn on rooms away. ...Just retested myself, this time without techno music playing in the next room. WAY higher. I don't feel like turning off the fans though... it's like 90 degrees here. Quote
Jipay Posted June 21, 2006 Posted June 21, 2006 well I would also be curious about testing this little programm in a more quiet envirronement. AH this damn TV sound ! Everyone think I am crazy aswell everytime I mention it. I guess they're just inferiorely gifted people anyway, so doesn't matter ! :-P Quote
Kikuichimonji Posted June 21, 2006 Posted June 21, 2006 Heh, and I thought I was the only one that could hear if a tv is on from miles away :-P Quote
Hobbes Posted June 21, 2006 Posted June 21, 2006 What am I doing wrong? There's not sound at all, no matter what number I type. Same here, on a notebook (and yes, my speakers are on, I can hear everything else that makes noise). So, I guess my hearing maxes out at 0... Edit: Works. It uses the speaker, which was muted on my system. A quick test gives me about 14950 (with TV on and Mrs. Hobbes rummaging in the kitchen)... Quote
