JimBee Posted March 7, 2011 Posted March 7, 2011 Forgive me for being such a noob, but is Maersk blue a new color, that's never been produced before? How much different is it than medium/sky blue? Thanks for the minifig review, CopMike. Hopefully there is more to come? Quote

Thanks for the minifig review, CopMike. Hopefully there is more to come? It was used on the previous version of the Maersk Container Ship. I think it was the first time it was used, considering the name "Maersk Blue" Quote
Zarkan Posted March 8, 2011 Posted March 8, 2011 (edited) It was used on the previous version of the Maersk Container Ship. I think it was the first time it was used, considering the name "Maersk Blue" No, because it's also been in every other Maresk exclusive ever, going all the way back to 1980. badgrdanc Posted March 8, 2011 Posted March 8, 2011 No, because it's also been in every other Maresk exclusive ever, going all the way back to 1980. actually according to LEGO guru gary istok, the first maersk model was a 1959-60 glued retail display followed by the 1974 set #1650 maersk line container ship d Quote
Jargo Posted March 8, 2011 Posted March 8, 2011 That torso is great. Going to be very expensive on BL I suspect. I shall have to save up some pennies. Quote
XimenaPaulina Posted March 8, 2011 Posted March 8, 2011 Those Maersk blue hard hats are . Thanks for this minifig review CopMike, looking forward for the whole set review next. Quote
BrickPerfection Posted March 8, 2011 Posted March 8, 2011 Quite interesting, the price for that Maersk blue helmet must have been very high on BL! Quote
Fugazi Posted March 8, 2011 Posted March 8, 2011 actually according to LEGO guru gary istok, the first maersk model was a 1959-60 glued retail display followed by the 1974 set #1650 maersk line container ship d True, but I believe that the Regina Maersk used regular Bright Blue bricks, not Maersk Blue (Pastel Blue in Lego parlance). The Maersk colour was introduced in 1974 in the set you mentioned. Then I have been told there was a slight change in the colour during the mid 2000s, but since I don't own any Maersk sets myself I can't tell how important this change was. It may still be possible to tell apart 'original' and modern Maersk Blue hard hats! Quote
Nikola Bathory Posted March 8, 2011 Posted March 8, 2011 Where's the set??? I can't wait for a full review. PS: Maersk or not, I hate stickers. Quote
Toastie Posted March 8, 2011 Posted March 8, 2011 PS: Maersk or not, I hate stickers. Finally someone voiced it: Me too, I hate them; after a couple of years they are - well - not so nice anymore, and if they are larger than 1 brick high they render building any frenzy rather tough ... Regards, Thorsten Quote

Regards, Thorsten Well there are solutions for that, although Maersk blue is also problematic for a sticker printer (at least with the technique that we use). We print the Maersk stickers with plain Cyan and that looks nice enough we think. Quote
382nd Legionnaire Posted March 11, 2011 Posted March 11, 2011 Did you get this online or in stores? I am not sure if this is going to be in Lego Stores since on lego.com it is an exclusive. Does anyone know if this is going to be sold in stores? Quote
