I am not interested in the quality of these knockoffs. They are not as good as Lego. But that is not the point. The point is that the Chinese arrogantly copy Lego's bricks with sh.t quality and you can't even differ this crap from original Lego. This should be prohibited. For me the second hand market of Lego Technic has just finished. Only original, whole, new sets. It seems that chinese companies are above certain rules of a free market and are allowed to just copy someones ideas and not to respect someone's reserved rights to a unique product. This is sick.

P.S. For me this thread is useful only in terms of being informed about what sets and bricks have already been copied and what (crappy sets, crappy parts) to watch out for.

There are quite a few differences between the Decool and Bela "8674" sets. The Bela set has much shinier tires while the Decool looks more like something from Lego. The Decool also has yellow shock absorbers.

Oh Ole Kirk, please do not charge us for (slightly) examining this wickedness! Rather, Ole Kirk smite thy foes (aka clone brands) with thy bolts of creativity and quality!

Sorry, I wanted to post some sarcasm.

But if you guys want a good read, check this out: http://www.1000steine.com/brickset/miscellaneous/clonebrands.pdf It's a true AFOL reviewing some clone brand stuff and summarizing the whole deal. And it's funny.

Nice and very detailed examination of clones (and quite wide range of them), thanx for info :classic: .

Buy the way, if some one's interested, I've done a review of.. PF-racer fake on our russian DoubleBrick:

http://www.doublebri...php?f=7&t=47359 - use google translate for text. I've checked it and it's quite understandable  (except for google's translation "100 USD" - it's actually 100 UAH (13 USD) )

Hmm, I would never use the actual bricks, but I would love to have that IR remote, maybe for an RC police car.

Hmm, that's weird, look at the switches:

There are no reverse switches at all, and the channel switcher says off/on. Maybe I don't want to get one.

This is simply unbelievable ... The arrogance behind copying 'blatantly' such items is beyond reason. I've read somewhere (I think on a lego box) that parts are made in Mexico, Czech Republic and China ... I wonder if the latter provides a source of 'inspiration' to such clone brands ...

Just by the looks the plastic has that brittle feeling that chinese mastered long time ago, some lack of sharpness in its shape and small imperfections on edges.

No wonder those are cheap, you get pure cheapness.

I always thought the knock-off companies got a hold of the molds and really tooled them (remove Lego logo and dimension). But that was always my thought.

High quality molds are very expensive and surely they are destroyed at the end of their useful life.

My guess is that they make molds from original parts, hence that "softening" or "smoothing" of the chinese parts. One important hint are the mold injection points, from what I see they don't match to Lego parts neither in place nor in size.
