Zeya Posted March 9, 2011 Posted March 9, 2011 I'm confused here. (Tried looking for a Belville discussion but coming up short. Sorry.) My girlfriend (we're in our upper 20s, lol) expressed interest in Belville. When we went to our local shop (TRU), there was only one beat up Belville set that didn't interest her. Now, when I go to S@H, they seem to be selling Belville sets on there. They even list them in their "themes" page of the shop, suggesting that it's still alive and kicking. I was interested in this one set with the dogs (7583 Playful Puppy) as a surprise gift for her (I would also use the dogs for a MOC too). But then this set is selling on Amazon and other sites for like 20 or 30 USD, where it's listed MSRP is 10. So this confuses me... Is Belville in its twilight or what? What's up with these funky prices? Quote
Tanotrooper Posted March 9, 2011 Posted March 9, 2011 I saw the sets on shop@home and thought the same thing... The sets themselves aren't available in stores anymore. (I was able to get one half price a few months ago.) I don't know about the wacky prices, but they do seem to be still available on shop@home so I'd try that or visiting a Legoshop. TT Quote
AndyC Posted March 9, 2011 Posted March 9, 2011 S@H is probably just trying to sell off the last of the stock, you sometimes see old sets disappear and then briefly reappear near end of life. Quote
Zeya Posted March 9, 2011 Author Posted March 9, 2011 Is Belville done for good? I mean, are there even any new sets announced/leaked for '11? Quote
Fugazi Posted March 10, 2011 Posted March 10, 2011 No sets have been announced, but TLG appears to be cooking up a new girl-oriented theme, as mentioned in this interview: "Lego's product designers were working hard to come up with female-oriented products, which will hit the shelves shortly." It's still unclear if this will be a minifig-based theme (the rumoured successor to Paradisa), or more like Belville. Either way, this will probably replace the Belville line. Quote

(Actually i did start a topic a while back wondering the same thing) According to a guy at the LEGO store I went to a couple months ago, Belville is indeed leaving, and being 'replaced' by a new girly theme, which will be on the regular minifig scale. Belville was even my favorite series.. still is actually Quote

Did they say when it's coming? Quote

Sandy Posted March 12, 2011 Posted March 12, 2011 The same two or three different Belville sets have been on the market for a couple of years now, with nothing new for the line. It's as if TLG has forgotten it's girl audience, but I'm glad it isn't so, with the new girl-oriented theme coming up next year. I personally can't wait to see how it is! Belville has had some amazing parts in rare colors that I'd love to have, but the scale and the ugly figs did not make me want to buy entire sets. LEGO's everlasting charm is in the pieces that all fit together, and nothing can ever replace minifigs as the standard figure to play with. That's where Belville went wrong to begin with. Quote
brickmack Posted March 19, 2011 Posted March 19, 2011 (edited) There was a single Belville set in a TRU around here until last week, but it's gone now. (Actually i did start a topic a while back wondering the same thing) According to a guy at the LEGO store I went to a couple months ago, Belville is indeed leaving, and being 'replaced' by a new girly theme, which will be on the regular minifig scale. Belville was even my favorite series.. still is actually Yay. The only reason I never got any Belville sets was that they have those things that look more like dolls than minifigs. I just hope the new theme has a lot of pink (I only have a few pink parts but I want to make a pink spaceship...) Edited March 19, 2011 by brickmack Quote
Blondie-Wan Posted May 8, 2011 Posted May 8, 2011 (edited) S@H is probably just trying to sell off the last of the stock, you sometimes see old sets disappear and then briefly reappear near end of life. Just a heads-up, for all those interested... In the last couple weeks I've noticed most of the last wave of Belville has become available again; my local Toys 'R' Us got a few copies of 7585 Horse Stable all of a sudden a couple weeks ago. Then Shop at Home made that one and the two smaller ones from the same wave (7587 Horse Jumping and 7583 Playful Puppy) available again. Also, my girlfriend was at the LEGO Store at Downtown Disney in Orlando today, and tells me that all three of these sets are in stock there, too. I'm guessing TLG located some additional stock that had been forgotten in a warehouse somewhere; it's also conceivable they did another production run, though this strikes me as unlikely, somehow. At any rate, I'm reasonably certain the wave those three sets are from was still the end of the line for the Belville theme, so the return of those three sets represents an opportunity for anyone wanting some to get it now before it's all gone.
