Jacob C. Posted June 22, 2006 Posted June 22, 2006 My newest moc is a bridge that crosses the border between the Falcon and Crusader territories: A falcon and crusader border guard stare each other down. If one of them were to cross the white line, it could cause an international incident! http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/RabbitSp...Castle7/010.jpg Looks like the crusaders are on lockdown: http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/RabbitSp...Castle7/013.jpg Is that Majisto lying drunk under the bridge? (did he drink that whole keg himself?) http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/RabbitSp...Castle7/064.jpg Some prefer to travel by boat: http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/RabbitSp...Castle7/089.jpg Brickshelf Gallery (when public): http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=189910 Quote
Starwars4J Posted June 22, 2006 Posted June 22, 2006 Quite an impressive MOC! The scale and details are phenomenal, though I guess I should've expected something like this from a CC refugee ;-) Castle has always been one of my favorite genres, and you've truly captured the magnitude of it all. The one thing that gets me is the selective use and alternation between smooth tiles and studs. But it's a great scene, and I love Majesto taking a nap, the pose is perfect :-D Quote
SuvieD Posted June 22, 2006 Posted June 22, 2006 Well where to start. The good Nice variety in the landscape and building styles each faction have The colors are good and I like the use of new and old grays, very realistic looking The falcon tower looks nicer and more defensible and the arches in it really add to it The creeping foliage is great and very natural looking Figures are in some great poses/actions that make this even more "alive" The waves are a nice little touch and the whole MOC detail level is great The bad The pattern for the bridge seems out of place for me, I prefer random, preference totally though Arches instead of slopes may have been better looking for the bridge itself, again preference The whole premise of sharing the bridge is unthinkable, one faction would have so much advantage over the other simply by controlling the whole thing that it would be next to impossible for them to peacably occupy the same amount of bridge control The bridge especially the gates are not large enough for larger supply wagons or royal carraiges, maybe not much of a concern or perhaps this is meant as a pedestrian bridge with limited access for carts/animals Also, in terms of military use the same problem with size is apparent, no sizable force would be able to utilize this bridge effectively and few seige engine would ever be able to cross with or without the factions sharing control So overall you have a nice MOC. Some of the design I would have done differently and I would not let two factions share the bridge for the numerous reasons I mentioned plus some. Your details are great and the whole thing looks good. MOC on! Quote
xwingyoda Posted June 22, 2006 Posted June 22, 2006 Jacob, I was browsing BS this morning and came across that folder and I thought, that bridge MOC looks sooooo promissing ;-) At that point I didn't know it was your BS gallery until I came across this thread !! the finished bridge MOC 8- Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted June 22, 2006 Governor Posted June 22, 2006 This is quite a master piece isn't it? The detail is astounding! And there's even a pirate raft! :-D Quote
Jacob C. Posted June 22, 2006 Author Posted June 22, 2006 Thanks for all the compliments! Here's some more detailed pictures of that raft: I always loved barrel rafts! Quote
Jipay Posted June 22, 2006 Posted June 22, 2006 Ahah, the raft is the piece I like the most in your MOC ! I also think the pavement is really impressive ! so many 1X1 tiles ! How much time did it take to make this beauty ? Quote
WesternOutlaw Posted June 23, 2006 Posted June 23, 2006 Jacob: an awesome MOC! Wonderful detail. I would never want to destroy a design as nice as this. I've always been fond of bridges, and most impressive are the towers attached to each side. Both are outstanding and I would love to see Lego produce a set like this with some classic castle figs. Very nice! Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted June 23, 2006 Governor Posted June 23, 2006 Here's some more detailed pictures of that raft: From this view we can clearly see this is not an actual pirate raft! Dammit! I always loved barrel rafts! As seen first in the pirate theme! :-D Quote
Jipay Posted June 23, 2006 Posted June 23, 2006 Exactly, there was this little set witha barrem raft and 3 pirates and a shark if I'm correct. My mum bought me this set at the super market :'-)I played with it hours and hours. It's funny to see what you can do with a really small as a kid ! Quote
xwingyoda Posted June 23, 2006 Posted June 23, 2006 Hey >:-( this is not the pirate forum !! lololololololol :-D The more I look at this nifty raft, the more I wish for the Pirate come back in '07 to make up for all the loss made during my bloody dark ages :-P *yoda* Quote
Norro Posted June 26, 2006 Posted June 26, 2006 Great work Jacob! This represents a huge improvement from your previous castles (which were also good!). It is nice to see you branch out into a less static castle model. The details in this are very nice, the rat-broom encounter and woodsmen ship being my faviourite... I also like the shared bridge concept itself. The scenery (always important) is also very skillfullyu implimented. All round a great MOC! God Bless, Nathan Quote
