Eurobricks Emperor Bonaparte Posted June 22, 2006 Eurobricks Emperor Posted June 22, 2006 I've stopped updating this thread, please go here for following the evolution of my French army! Napoleon has its regiments of line infantry ready in formation. Behind the first line is a reserve regiment waiting for the emperors orders. The elite cavalry is also ready to attack and waiting without patience for the battle to start. Behind the second line is Napoleons most feared weapon: The old guard. When they are ordered to the battlefield, the enemy knows they must retreat or be destroyed. Note: This thread already has a rich history and I've been adding updates and new pictures in the first post. UPDATE 15/01/2007: Some new pictures of my army as it looks today: 170x imperial line infantry (10 are not in the pictures and will become part of the 9th regiment of the line) 20x imperial light infantry 20x old guard grenadiers 12x cuirassier (heavy cavalry) 6x artillery 7x officer 8x non-commissioned officer 2x imperial band 1x mameluke guard 1x napoleon Total manpower: 247 UPDATE 15/08/2006: The army as it was some months ago... Click on the thumbs to see the larger pictures: 100x imperial line infantry 20x imperial light infantry 20x old guard grenadiers 11x cuirassier (heavy cavalry) 6x artillery 6x officer 2x imperial band 1x mameluke guard 1x napoleon The first pics: 22/06/2006: Quote
xwingyoda Posted June 22, 2006 Posted June 22, 2006 Hail to the Emperor !! Welcome to EB bonaparte ;-) That is indeed an impressive army 8- Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted June 22, 2006 Governor Posted June 22, 2006 Aye Carumba! That's more Imperial Blue Coats than I've got! This is an outrage but it is wonderful to see the collection of others! Some close ups of Napoleon would be good! Actually close ups of any of the customised mini-figures would be good! Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted June 22, 2006 Governor Posted June 22, 2006 Ahhhhh!!! Mr Oo7 has raised an interesting query - from which origins did you amass such a fine army and approximlately how much did it cost you? Quote
Eurobricks Emperor Bonaparte Posted June 22, 2006 Author Eurobricks Emperor Posted June 22, 2006 You are right about the colour guard. I'm going to add some Mameluke guards for Napoleon. I hope that by the end of the year my french army will be completly ready. In parallel I have started to build a british army. Already have 21 soldiers and 3 officers. I buy the minifigs on Bricklink, ebay, some markets with old lego. Costs a lot of money *wacko* (like every hobby). The average price for 1 soldier is about $4 - $5. Also the cavalry helmets and muskets are not very cheap. Quote
xwingyoda Posted June 22, 2006 Posted June 22, 2006 Tks for the heads up ;-) What really interests me is the battle in question: did you do a typo in your title ? Did you mean the battle of I Quote

Yeah, I've noticed the price of one soldier is about US$4-$5 and sometimes even more - especially in my part of the world, they usually sell quite well. But in France and Belgium I've seen actions for 5 Imperial Guards sell for under US$10 which is phenomonally cheap. Quote
Eurobricks Emperor Bonaparte Posted June 22, 2006 Author Eurobricks Emperor Posted June 22, 2006 I chose the battle of Jena because it was won by Napoleon. In my timeline the battle of Waterloo never took place ;-) . Don't want to see my army defeated. Quote
xwingyoda Posted June 22, 2006 Posted June 22, 2006 Indeed bonaparte, But the Emperor did win many famous battles in Italy (Montenotte, Arcole & Rivoli), Egypte (Pyramides, Aboukir (on land), Mont Thabor & Marengo), Austria (Ulm & Austerlitz - what Trafalgar ?), Prussia (I Quote
SuvieD Posted June 22, 2006 Posted June 22, 2006 Nice army. Hopefully you are finding a few good deals and can get them cheaper than $4 a piece. I am interested to see a battle scene with these troops in action. That would be great. Though this isn't the largest imperial army I have scene it is a big one and the custom leaders are looking great. Having remembered the all the important portions to this army makes this a better one than any large I have seen also. Quote
Evil Willy Posted June 22, 2006 Posted June 22, 2006 Wow this is fantastic... I cant say much on this subject since its not a build, but its an awsome collection and a good way to introduce yourself to EB! Enjoy it here. Quote

Already have 21 soldiers and 3 officers. Exactly how big is this "French" army going to be and how big is it now? Or to be more precise: How many blue coat mini-figures do you have? Quote
xwingyoda Posted June 22, 2006 Posted June 22, 2006 Thats a good Phesic question here ;-) The Napoleon troops were always outnumbered, therefore, the British army needs to be at least 2 or 3 times superior ;-) Also as for the scenery of the Battle of Jena, you need a nice plateau with grapes ;-) Also since the slope was too steep, the army attacked WITHOUT the artillery at 6am when the Prussians were not that awake at that time. *yoda* Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted June 22, 2006 Governor Posted June 22, 2006 Armada Yoda, you certainly know your history - right down to the very grapes! Quote
xwingyoda Posted June 22, 2006 Posted June 22, 2006 You know French and Grapes... The fun part is that the grapes did hide the French progression upwards hehe (when we don't drink it, we use it !!). And the artillary finally managed to climb the slope during the battle !! Maybe this can help you if you want to recreate that famous battle ;-) I will also add some pics ;-) Hope that helped ;-) *yoda* Quote

Do you this kind of thing regularly, Armada Yoda? Hope that helped ;-) Yes it has helped immensly! I've been saying all along the blue in those uniforms is too dark and there is too much red so the blue coat mini-figures can't be French! Quote
xwingyoda Posted June 22, 2006 Posted June 22, 2006 Phes, Do I what ?? You forgot one word (what infinitive verb do you wish to add ;-) ) in your previous post. Also, if you want I'll be looking for better pics tonight and post them here :-) *yoda* Quote
Merkel Posted June 22, 2006 Posted June 22, 2006 Since this is a Pirate Forum, weren't a lot of the Caribbean colonies Dutch? Like Maracabaibo, Cura Quote
oo7 Posted June 22, 2006 Posted June 22, 2006 We've seen Spanish, English and French armies, but they've completely ignored the Dutch. that's not true, check out this faily recent hot topic and this recent thead, a predecessor of the last one. Quote

Also, if you want I'll be looking for better pics tonight and post them here :-) DO would be that verb, Armada Yoda, and it appears to be past my bed time! Yes, I'd be most interested to see other pictures, particularly of the uniforms so I can observe the differences to the British uniform. However, I think the images I have in the other thread already highlights the differences but more images is always good! Since this is a Pirate Forum, weren't a lot of the Caribbean colonies Dutch? Like Maracabaibo, Cura Quote
Merkel Posted June 22, 2006 Posted June 22, 2006 And now Tortuga belongs to Venezuela. And I talked about "ignoring the Dutch", I was mainly talking about Lego sets, not MOC's. Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted June 22, 2006 Governor Posted June 22, 2006 Yes, there are a couple of topics about how The LEGO Company neglected representing the Dutch in a sub-theme. Go searching for them if you want and you may find some interesting infromation... Quote
Norro Posted June 27, 2006 Posted June 27, 2006 A most impressive collection of soldiers...if I only had the money ; ) God Bless, Nathan Quote
Sean Posted June 27, 2006 Posted June 27, 2006 I thought I had a lot of bluecoats. That is a real nice army there, especially on the intimidation factor haha. How long did it take to come up with those silver helmets for the cavalry? Sean Quote
