Redhead1982 Posted January 1, 2012 Posted January 1, 2012 Being the target population for the Friends theme (although slightly older - 20+ something ), I find the sets interesting mostly for the new colours (mostly blue, but pink and purple as well) and the new accessories (the cutlery, cupcakes, baking and cooking utensils, the pink drawers, ruler, printed juice and milk carton, and the new flowers molds). However, the ladyfigs are (in my opinion), the worst part of the series. Quote
The Yellow Brick Posted January 1, 2012 Posted January 1, 2012 those sets all look really nice, especially the desk! Thanks for the pictures Whung! Quote
Pazoozoo Posted January 1, 2012 Posted January 1, 2012 This theme has a lot of interesting pieces that can be easily reused in other themes. Quote

What I'll probably do is wait to see if I can get any on sale for the parts. I do like the new colors and the minifigure accessories. There are so many new cool parts, even if some are in odd colors. AndyC Posted January 1, 2012 Posted January 1, 2012 Ladyfigs aside, going through some of the building instructions on this theme, the sets are looking great. The way the burger is constructed in the City Park Cafe is pure Lego genius. And there are copious amounts of interesting accessories that are equally usable in minifig creations. I kind of don't want to like these, as I could do with saving some cash, but it's pretty hard not to. Immeasurably better than Belville, possibly even nicer than Paradisa. Quote
prateek Posted January 1, 2012 Posted January 1, 2012 Wow! Those promos are awesome! That's a really neat sand castle, and that car is nice for parts Quote
The Blue Brick Posted January 1, 2012 Posted January 1, 2012 Yes! Perfect parts pack. I' definitely going to pick up as many as I can. Quote
The Blue Brick Posted January 2, 2012 Posted January 2, 2012 I just got back from Walmart and they had none of the friends sets left. They were completely out. Surprisingly, they were also marked down from after christmas sales. Also when I was there, there was a group of girls ages 5 to 10, and they were wining because they wanted the new sets. The mother actually said if they wanted to get the Marina, but they yelled, we don't like city anymore, we like friends. It cracked me up and shows that alot of girls do like these new sets. Quote

Oops, Lego might have made a mistake.....and it's all to do with the figure in the pack - the divide line widens....lets hope not. Australia must wait a few more months for Friend's, so we will have to see what young Aussie girls and their parents....plus other male members of their families think about Friend's. Quote
TheLegoDr Posted January 2, 2012 Posted January 2, 2012 Thanks for the pictures! Those promos are awesome. I'd totally buy one of each of those, if available. I also want some of the other sets, but everywhere around here didn't have any yet. They had a few sets, but no prices listed. We didn't try to purchase any yet though. Quote

Yeah, I thought it was odd that they would mark down new sets that just came out in the U.S, but I was talking to the manager of the toy area and she said that they would be getting another shipment of lego in the next week or two. She said the day after christmas everyone kept buying them since they were marked down and it was almost like another black friday. I also agree that we aren't sure yet if they will sell good, since they haven't been put on the shelves everywhere, and that was just a small fraction of consumers. I guess we'll have to wait, but I certainly love this line so far, and can't wait to get my hands on them. Quote

Well, my fiance and I were in Target today while I was waiting for the shop to finish putting new tires on my car, and I went to see if I could get Olivia's Treehouse and Stephanie's Cool Convertible (which they had), and I saw a pair of young kids (around 8-10), a brother and sister who both seemed excited about the new Friends sets... BTW, I'll try and post a review of Stephanie's Cool Convertible, provided that (a) it's legal for non-reviewer's academy people to post reviews and (b) nobody else beats me to it. Quote
Steverd Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 Walmart had five rows of Friends Legos out. To bad at least three rows where the City Park Cafe. I wish I would've taken a photo. They also had a good number of the $5.99 sets. Hey, I wife thought that they where pretty cool though. I think she said "WooooooW. Quote
tiggerkiddo Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 Hah, it's kinda like Paradisa all over where the buildings/structures they do have are on par with the best of Town, which has a greater amount of sets anyways! Colors don't bug me...or the minifigs for that matter, the sets just look nicely designed and darnit...I'll probably buy one of them when my local Lego store gets its shipments in this week. Quote
Brickity Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 That's nice, but may I ask where? I hope girls get crazy over these it would mean so much to TLG.. I'm going to buy like, at least 4 heh Quote
freakwave Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 In my opinion it is an incredible line-up, so many different sets. I saw the complete line at the San Mateo LEGO store yesterday but unfortunately did not buy anything. Great colors are included and will make good use for some MOCs. As noted before it is pleasing to see that the price range is alright and not in the Belville range. well done! Quote

romdam Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 Yes! Perfect parts pack. I' definitely going to pick up as many as I can. Glad the target audience is ready to buy them up for MOCs. My Walmart had them out for 2 days now and not one has sold. I still want to know where they did all of this research. I hear this and that about how awesome these sets are but it just sounds like collectors wanting the parts for themselves. Or they say "their daughter" loves them. Quote
GRogall Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 Well I have placed all HR pictures in my BS gallery. But if you take all the sets including the polybags and add up all the figures you get 23 Girls 1 Guy Poor Guy! Quote
whung Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 Set number of LEGO Friends Advent Calendar 2012 is 3316. Source: http://www.legomarkabolt.hu/index.php?oldal=katalogus&by=csoport&cs=89&n=3316 Quote
Muddy Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 I just bought the Treehouse - Freaking sweet - I got it for the Lego Rose Piece in red - I am a hopeless romantic like that but turns out the set is sweet for it's little touches... I was trying so hard to figure out what the pink slopes were for until i realized it is steps to get to the top... Duh I just wish they had 1x extra of each of the new flowers, and butterflies, etc. THe figure is pretty cool to she reminds me of the lady I made the B&B rose for...(Check it out over at the General discussion thread) or at my Brickshelf below The sets are pretty good I just wish the Polybags where not so hard to get ahold of. Any news as to where they can be found? They should have included the poly bags with the launch I am glad to see they are doing an Advent Calendar of them That makes 3 Advent Calendars this year SW, Friends, and City what the friend is with that... Oh well I got three copies of the SW one last year maybe they got the hint with the city one and put it on hold for a year. PARTS pack galore! Quote
Perry the Platypus Posted January 4, 2012 Posted January 4, 2012 (edited) When I first saw pictures of this new theme, I was completely skeptical, but now, not anymore. The designs that went into these sets are pure genius. I may sound like a geek, but I'm a sucker for the plethora of new parts in the Friends line. I'll go to the LEGO Store or Toys "R" Us to see if they have these things in stock. The only thing I see wrong with this are the trashy minidolls, so I'll probably give them to my daughter. Cheers to LEGO for releasing such a unique, new theme. Edited January 4, 2012 by Perry the Platypus Quote
Echo Posted January 4, 2012 Posted January 4, 2012 Something interesting I've noticed about this theme is that there is not a single set in the entire first wave that includes two or more of the main characters together. For a bunch of girls who are supposed to be such great friends, they don't seem to do things together at all. They either do things by themselves or with side characters, like the vet and waitress.
