lightningtiger Posted September 1, 2011 Posted September 1, 2011 Yep, found them again along with new Star Wars, city, Super Heroes, etc.,. I wonder when Lego will bring the hammer down eh ? Quote
cimddwc Posted September 1, 2011 Posted September 1, 2011 LEGO FRIENDS Stephanie's Backspaß im Garten [stephanie's Garden Backspace] Sorry for laughing, but Backspaß is "baking fun", something I hope you won't see on or do with your keyboard. Interesting find, though. Still hoping some sets like the café will be useful for City-building... Quote
Haltiamieli Posted September 1, 2011 Posted September 1, 2011 (edited) Sorry for laughing, but Backspaß is "baking fun", something I hope you won't see on or do with your keyboard. Close enough! Shouldn't have trusted on Google Translate on that one, but when should you trust Google Translate anyway? But who bakes in a garden either? Well, apparently Stephanie. Yeah, I'm obviously hoping that the theme is somewhat minifig-compatible (except the cutiefigs) too. Though sadly at least the animal molds, judging by the earlier leak, seem to be seriously incompatible with normal style of Lego animals - even more so than many of the Belville ones. Maybe the buildings and food and so on are better... Edited September 1, 2011 by Haltiamieli Quote
Mirandir Posted September 1, 2011 Posted September 1, 2011 Okay, Convertible.....I wonder if that will be a six wide vehicle to carry two or more figures.....well they are friends right ? The convertible is 6-wide and looks like it could fit two minidolls. The big dog show, could we see different shape dogs eh ? Now we only need pictures. Oh, quick edit.....that link for that toy shop - yeah, right....nothing Lego comes up, only model helicopters ! Yes there's a new dog mold. Quote

Though I have been to an outdoor community bread oven in Germany so who knows. In my mind Finland might be a bit cold for me to want to do either outdoors Quote
whung Posted September 5, 2011 Posted September 5, 2011 (edited) Yah compared to all the other girl dolls out there, the Lego friends theme is tame, the girls look normal and not overtly sexual at all. Lego is betting on these new friend minifigs(which I admittingly am biased against) doing better than the regular minifigs and I'm sure they put some research into this, but Lego has far from a flawless record on releasing products (i.e Ben 10, Galidor). I think they should have kept the theme and used highly decorated minifigures in flesh tones, or made more female friendly city sets and put more female minifigs in them to attract more girls, but I could be wrong, maybe this theme is the way to go! I do think the figs are better than bellville, but will have to wait and see what the sets look like. According to this website, here provide the set number of the coming LEGO Friends sets. However, I think some set numbers may not be correct as shown in the website. http://www.spielwaren-kontor24.de/Lego/LEGO-Friends 3061 Café 3183 Stephanie's Cabrio [stephanie's Convertible] 3185 Abenteuer Baumhaus [Tree House Adventure] (I guess there is mistyping in 3085 in the website) 3187 Schönheitssalon [beauty Saloon] 3188 Tierklinik [Animal Clinic] 3315 Traumhaus [Dream House] 3930 Stephanie's Backspaß im Garten [stephanie's Garden Backspace] 3931 Emma's Sonnenterrasse [Emma's Sun Terrace] 3932 Andrea's Musikbühne [Andrea's Concert Stage] (I guess there is mistyping in 3832 in the website) 3933 Olivia's Ideenwerkstatt [Olivia's Idea Workshop] 3934 Mias Welpen-Häuschen [Mia's Puppy House] 3935 Stephanie's mobile Tierrettung [stephanie's Mobile Animal Rescue] 3938 Emma's Designstudio [Emma's Design Studio] 3942 Die große Hundeschau [The Big Dog Show] One more set name found 3065 Avonturen boomhut [Tree House Adventure] http://www.superspeelgoed.nl/lego-3065-avonturen-boomhut-p-9585.html Edited September 6, 2011 by whung Quote
lightningtiger Posted September 5, 2011 Posted September 5, 2011 Hey, you know what's missing from the line up......a clothes shop, shoe & handbag store, and a jewellery store ! How could Lego miss those, don't they know what women do all the time......shop till they drop ! Actually the cafe, beauty salon and animal clinic designs I would look forward to.....I could do with the ideas ! Roll on pictures.....please ! Quote
Ogre Posted September 10, 2011 Posted September 10, 2011 It's been clear for many years that TLG wants their website to be a unisex toy. The problem is that girls just don't buy LEGO products the way boys do. As such, TLG is often trying new and innovative ways to get new female buyers. And the important thing to remember is that girls who prefer regular LEGO already tend to buy that. They aren't who these girl-oriented themes are usually targeted at-- they are a minority of the female audience and TLG is devoting their attention to the majority which doesn't buy LEGO and is thus an untapped market. Basically, any girl who wants the figs to look like regular minifigures is probably already buying sets that have regular minifigures in them. "LEGO Friends" is probably designed to try and appeal to all girls, but primarily the ones who aren't buying other sets. Now, as for these sets I think they are (as far as TLG is concerned) as interchangeable as classic minifigures. I can see four pieces at least: the torso, legs, head, and hair. This is the same number of parts as it is "legal" to separate a minifigure into (removing a minifigure's legs from the hips or removing the arms or hands from the torso damages the connection and thus TLG does not encourage separating them). They are apparently less articulated, which could harm their popularity, but I wouldn't consider it a huge flaw. Am I disappointed by this theme, from an AFOL perspective? Yeah, I guess I am. But I think using a new style of figure is just realistic on LEGO's part. The early suggestions that this theme would use regular minifigures seemed too good to be true, and it turned out that they were-- I don't think that's worth moping about. Currently, I'm just hoping that this theme will be successful so that some day we can say "LEGO is a unisex toy" rather than "LEGO is a unisex toy overwhelmingly bought by boys rather than girls". If it takes a separate theme to accomplish that then that's fine. I didn't complain about BIONICLE (an action figure theme) being designed primarily for boys, after all. Why should I be concerned with Friends (a doll theme) being designed primarily for girls? I haven't read all 18 pages of this thread but, it sounds to me like LEGO is just taking a stab at cutting into the 'Polly Pocket' market...which has done fairly well for itself. Might not be too bad of a theme. Quote
Modulex Guy Posted September 12, 2011 Posted September 12, 2011 Would anyone confirm the colors in these sets? I'm looking at these sets as a new source for pink and "girly" color parts Anyone know what colors will be predominant in these sets? Quote

I haven't seen any pics of the sets themselves, but I would expect the sets to make at least some use of each of these colors, all of which were added to the palette this year but most of which have been used rather sparsely. I expect most, if not all, of the other traditionally girl-oriented colors on the current palette will be used as well. Edited September 13, 2011 by Aanchir Quote

KristofBD Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 Love the cup cakes. I guess this theme is a bit like Belville: I don't like the sets, but I like the parts. And from that perspective, it has significant potential. I must say I like the Robot set and the Icecream shop the most. Quote

Brickviller Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 Looks better than thougt, at least it's minifig scale so other people can use it in their own city's. Not something for me, but I think it's a relief for the other people that were afraid for a Belville-syndrome Quote
Mr Meleca Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 much better than Polly´s etc... It is a releaf for me and a good future for my daughter (thank God I´ll not have to change that cursed clothes of Polly anymore!!!!!!!) Quote
Fugazi Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 i found this on internet Thanks for the pics, damian. I'm quite happy with the look of these sets. The design is at least as good as that of typical City sets, if not better. No big parts, mostly normal bricks in groovy colours. Unlike City sets, scenes are full of details and accessories -- which were expected but not taken for granted. A few new moulds where required, not as many as I thought but many minifig-compatible accessories. As for the minidolls, we've seen them before and either you like them or you don't. I think they're nicely done, and should prove at least as popular with girls as regular minifigs. I don't know if this theme will be successful (who does?) but I certainly find it appealing. More so than most previous girl-oriented themes. I can't wait for my daughter to grow up so I can buy her some! Quote
Matn Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 The sets don't look bad at all. A great variety of colours, design and a nice amount of accessories. The buildings (especially the Cafe) would look perfect in a LEGO town of official LEGO sets. The minifigures aren't that bad, but I still don't like them. I think it was a bad idea to design new figures, I could see why girls would like these figures more (they're of course more girly than your regular minfigure). I don't know, the classic LEGO style, it's gone. At least the new hairpieces will fit on regular minifigures. I think it will be a nice theme for girls, and how bad the figures may look, it's a good thing they made them as high as normal LEGO figures. Quote
Miss Kyle Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 At least the new hairpieces will fit on regular minifigures. Do they? Now that would be fantastic! The sets aren't too bad, love the cupcakes and the lipsticks :D I'd have preferred a proper cat though, with a more realistic looking head. Quote
Matn Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 Do they? Now that would be fantastic! They'll certainly do, I think most of them. Some may not fit I think because of the way it is designed. Some time ago there was a photo of a Friends Doll with hair from the Collectable Minifigures singer. And in the Beauty Shop you can see a regular white minifigure head with a hairpiece on top of it. I think the role of the minifigure in determining the classic LEGO style is overrated. Many people were perfectly happy with Technic figures when they were around, after all. People keep thinking about what this could have been, but they're not considering what was likely. The most realistic thing to have expected would have been Belville-like dolls at god-knows-what scale! But instead, we get four-piece minifigures at almost the exact same scale as traditional figs. If they had reason to expect regular minifigures to be successful, they'd have no excuse not to use them, so I think we should be grateful that we got the next best thing. The sets themselves are amazing. The colors are pastel, but not as though someone vomited pink paint all over them. They're still plenty realistic. Everything about this theme is scores better than Belville. All the vehicles, buildings, etc. look like they'd work perfectly for minifigures, and the compatible hairpieces make even the figures a safe enough investment for AFOLs. The colors are beautiful, and the content of the sets (such as a treehouse, a veterinary office, and a cafe/diner) manages far better than any girls' theme in the past to avoid female stereotypes. Only the beauty shop and arguably the stage are explicitly "girly". As soon as I saw these, my first impression was that "people are going to love these". And as soon as people start to look at them realistically, rather than thinking about the misleading first impressions we had suggesting we might have traditional minifigures, I'm confident that any AFOL, male or female, will be able to find something appealing in this theme. lightningtiger Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 Finally images (saved them), actually not that bad....the best - the house, AWESOME design....quite cute too ! Blue hand tools, different.....oh, cupcakes....why didn't they have them for the winter bakery eh ? Now for some negative, a brick built radio cassette what's wrong with the 3 stud wide collectables one and isn't the hot tub a bit small and not very deep ? Plus on the more positive side, in the house do I spy a male character ? The greatest part - puppy dogs - you gotta love them ! Now on the weird, the car is nice but that fuel stop.....dam we have been waiting for a new petrol station and we get this - I'll try and design is make it a little more realistic....this one looks like it's being run by Mr. Humphries from Are You Being Served ? Time to do some more scanning over the images. Brick On View On ! Quote

It is not like they tried to go with minifig scale. They could have match it instead of 'getting closest'. They may think normal minfigs won't sell, but everything points towards they not being good at determining what sells and what does not in the girls market. Everyone is so all right with Technic figs are so all right that they are incredibly hard to find in MoCs. The best thing about this theme is that with the inevitable fail in sales, the sets will be be very discounted and make great parts packs. At least some of the good designs and pieces will be put in use. Edited September 13, 2011 by vexorian Quote
lightningtiger Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 I spy new hair dryer (good my electrical store could do with some more stock ) and lipsticks....Lego lipsticks ! Also new hair brush and a comb, plus handbag too......I wonder if there be a second wave. Hope for more accessories than are more well say boy-ish next year - fingers crossed. Quote
vexorian Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 (edited) 3933 Is wonderful. I will have to get that little remote control robot regardless of the girl minifig. It is so weird that such a set wouldn't happen in a town setting. It is great also to see LEGO not sticking to stereotypical things here. I mean, look at those tools. And that telescope, and the board with equations. Why exactly can't "boys" themes have something like this? Edited September 13, 2011 by vexorian Quote
