I've picked 3 small sets and that's got me 3 of the colors. The Aqua, the Dark Azure, and one of the lavenders. Then of course I've got the Medium Azure outta Alien Conquest and Spongebob. The others: the lighter lavender I think, and definitely the spring yellowish green - are these actually in anything? Because I'm getting pinks and purples and lots of fantastic colors that are relatively new to me, or welcome additions to meager collections. colors like the ol banana pudding yellow, the bright green, the magenta and the bright yellow orange. But I definitely can't find two lavenders or a trace of SYG (lots of lime though). So are these colors really around anywhere? Friends sets have medium azure while Alien Conquest and Spongebob have dark azure (and comparing them side by side, the difference is much greater than I expected). Several of the Friends sets have lime green in them, which I'm pretty sure LEGO already calls yellowish green. I'm dubious as to the existence of a new color there. Were the "6 new colors" advertised anywhere other than the catalog? I'm thinking out-of-touch marketing people might be to blame for the claim. There is another blue color in the Friends sets that was extremely rare before: bright light blue.
January 5, 201213 yr Just picked up some Friends sets. I'm making a sweet mech for Olivia using white and Medium Azure pores. Looking nice so far! I'm trying to make it look big and robotic, while still using Friends pieces and keeping it girlish.

They are official new distinct lego colors. Showed up in Lego Digital Designer last year. Bricklink has dark and medium mixed up.

The press release here describes three new brick colors. This article describes six new colors, though, so that's one example. The six new "Friends" colors introduced to LEGO between 2011 and 2012 are Dark Azure (debuted in Alien Conquest and Spongebob Squarepants just before Friends), Medium Azure (new to Friends) Aqua (Bricklink's Light Aqua; debuted in Cars before Friends), Medium Lavender (debuted in Friends and some LEGO watches and clocks), Lavender (debuted in Minifigures Series 5 for the fitness instructor's boom box before appearing in Friends), and Spring Yellowish Green (has not yet been seen in any sets in brick form, but has been used as a print color in Ninjago and possibly other themes).
January 5, 201213 yr I picked up 3187 Butterfly Beauty Shop at Target earlier today. It (along with almost all of the other Friends sets) were in the 'Girls' aisle right next to the Polly Pockets. January 5, 201213 yr I've only been to the LEGO Store thus far to pick up some sets, but they are on a display in front, and have a shelf area like all of the themes are. I do love all these new colors! I wonder if these will appeal in other themes? Back to the underwear thig, I dont think LEGO would go for it.

January 6, 201213 yr Guys, I hope you know the characters in this line are little preteen girls right...

But I do admit, though, and I'm ashame when I say this, that the little dolls are kinda cute.
January 6, 201213 yr I guess I didn't get the feeling they owned their own shops. Just shopped there/worked there. But I did think they were older than preteen -- 15 or 16. One has her own car after all! So, driving age.

Actually, the beauty shop, the cafe, and the vet clinic all have 'employee' figures that do seem a bit older than the 'Friends'. The main characters of the line seem to be old enough to be fairly independent (Olivia does live with her parents), yet still young enough for young girls to identify with. I'd estimate that they're around 15-19 years old.

If they weren't that old, their moms and dads must not have cared for them right. That's an example of bad parenting, folks! What would be a really cool set in the 2013 wave, (if there is one) would be a big college, about the size of Olivia's house. In the new wave of sets, the girls would be heading off to college. The set would include dorms, classrooms, and some male minidolls for the girls to flirt with. Edited January 6, 201213 yr by Perry the Platypus
January 6, 201213 yr As far as age goes, I'd say the girls are 10-12 years old... look at their clothing. Much too juvenile for anyone older-- my friends who are 12 and 13 both dress more glam and hip-hop than that! And don't wear cute little tiered skirts. :) That makes them too young to do things, but that's seems to be typical in toys; you can pretend you're doing adult things even if you're not an adult. For an example from a book, Nancy Drew was out running around by herself solving mysteries at 16...

"THOSE PEOPLE AT LEGO! THOSE PERVERTS! OMG!!!1!!!! THEY ARE ALL PEDOPHILES AT LEGO! Blah blah blah, bitch, bitch, bitch." I was at TRU today. As I walked into the store just a few feet away, was a nice cardboard display with all the sets. But, there was none at the normal LEGO aisle. Actually, they were picked pretty clean, so who knows.
