Man with a hat Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 Yes, finally some pictures. I like it. I am amazed at what could be done making two houses and still keeping the number of parts reasonable. There are still some nice details there as well. And I like the green bike (I was worried we would get another skate-board...). Ok, I need some time to process this, and to find out when I can get it as soon as possible. Quote
Rick Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 I was expecting two buildings with a bit more 'grandeur'. Partially this has to do with them not being as tall as the previous modulars (which you can see in the side-by-side shots). But I guess we're all pretty spoiled by this line. These are two great stand-alone buildings, with amazing exterior detailing, but especially with a lot of attention to the interior. Can't wait to order this set. Quote
George G. Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 Where are all the fantastic new animal molds? From what I can see, you get: - A dog - A cat - A parrot - A goldfish - A frog A new Guinea Pig or Hamster mold wouldn't have hurt Anyway, I think this set is just a bit of a mash. They should have either made the pet shop bigger with an area where they sell supplies and someones living accomodation upstairs, or release to two buildings seperatley as "expansion packs". Quote
the-bricking-builder Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 I just look at this set,I like it but there is maybe a problem. Could you can remove the first floor from the basement? Quote
Younge Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 BTW, is it really sand blue for the pet shop in this set? Looks more like purple to me. Maybe its just the lighting of the photos that have been taken. Would explain why some people are seeing light yellow (which I am seeing in the photos as the stock standard tan color rather than a rarer offering like light yellow). Either way, the sand blue (or purple!) and light yellow (or tan!!) look good and work well together. Quote
Admiral of the Red Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 Nice! Rare colors and new pieces!! The pet shop is extremely cute, what with the flowers and all Quote
The Yellow Brick Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 That looks awesome , This has to be my favorite building yet The interior is just FANTASTIC! I must say the pet shop looks great even though I had doubts about it. Quote
astra Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 I'lll probably will get it as soon as I'm in the neighbourhoud of a Lego store. But talking about an 'exploding topic'... Quote
Fugazi Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 Would explain why some people are seeing light yellow (which I am seeing in the photos as the stock standard tan color rather than a rarer offering like light yellow). The part ID numbers indeed match tan parts. Such a huge variety of new light yellow parts would have been surprising. Quote
GRogall Posted May 4, 2011 Author Posted May 4, 2011 Looks like Tazman ( Sooner Bricks) is starting to build it. wish he had a better camera or better lighting! keep them pics coming! Quote
kciR Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 When reading through all the posts, I feel a bit disappointment among the most of you. But I was just rushing when I saw the pictures. Maybe we're all a bit to spoiled by great MOC's of modular buildings. I think this one has some nice techniques that, at least TLG never used before, like the window above the entrance of the residential house, just lovely! This one will be better when you actually build it, I guess.. And finally a modular with back decoration, don't forget to mention that. And what detail I love the most at this point is the void in the house. I can't remember having this seen in any set before.. I'm thinking of getting this, but I told my girl not to get any new sets (soon).. damn. See'll understand Quote

Fugazi Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 Do those part numbers reveal sand blue??? I don't know, the older instructions where sand blue parts appeared don't have the reference numbers... The modified 1x2 brick with groove would be a new part in sand blue. Quote
BudhaBoss Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 Here are few details from the picture, showing the yellow color (much lighter than the head of fig) and detail of separated floors (somebody was asking, if the top of pet shop is removable. Quote

BudhaBoss Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 (edited) I still see that as Tan, not light yellow... It seems to me more like light yellow than tan according to this: http://www.brickiwiki.com/page/Lego+Color+Chart But maybe, I am not expert on Lego colors. Enclosed - left is tan, right is light yellow. Edited May 4, 2011 by BudhaBoss Quote
McBuddha Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 (edited) Hi! In case you didn´t see on Toys N Bricks there´s a link to a whole little bunch of pictures from Tazman. And now, here´s the link too: http://www.flickr.com/photos/62467536@N06/ Uhhhhmm... ...just clicked the front page photo and got to the same Flickr location. Sorry! David Thomsen Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 I'm slightly disappointed, maybe my reaction would be better if I hadn't seen so many mock-ups and stuff. The brick design on the red building confuses me a little. Still, I can't judge until I've seen them between the GG and the CC. Quote
malliemcg Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 I missed out on the GG and CC (and MS if it's part of the "theme"). I'm not missing out on this one. Ordered the Grand Emporium last night I can't wait to add these to the little collection we've got going on. As for the next set I hope they do a "re-release" of some of the earlier ones :P I like some of the little details in this one and the Mrs (and the kids too) are going to love all the animals in one set. Jasper Joppe Geers Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 About the color, i'm afraid the supposed Light Yellow will be just Tan. According to both Bricklink and Brickwiki this color is out of production for a few years now. Although the Maersk color was a huge surprise to me, i don't reckon the same thing would happen to Light Yellow. As far as i know, the Modulars have always been designed with current production bricks... Quote
escortmad79 Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 I'll wait until I see further pictures before commiting to buy or not. I like the pet shop side but feel that the residential part is a bit... Americanised & won't fit in with my planned city layout The residential side doesn't really have the wow factor for me Quote
Er!k Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 What I really like about it is the fact you can seperate the buildings, just like Market Street. This allows you more flexibility with your modular street. I can also understand some guys are disappointed, there were so many rumours and MOC's... Anyone knows when this one is hitting the shelves? Quote

May 10th! But apparently it has already been available in certain shops since yesterday. Quote
Ghandidcm Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 Yes, another set I will own! Does anyone know when this set will be available at Shop@Home?! Quote
nesquik Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 I really, really like this product, I think their are good reasons to as well. For a start, I can understood others saying that this set looks "too much like previous Modular buildings, such as the Green Grocer", but we shouldn't forget that all these Modular buildings are only available for a limited time. People who are willing to purchase this Pet Shop may not have had a chance to buy earlier Modular buildings (like myself), as so similar building elements or styles are perfectly welcome to new customers. But I certainly don't think it looks that similar anyway. Secondly, I think its natural that if these Modular products are designed to be forged together in various ways that they represent a level of authenticity from real-life architecture. After all, how many different designs can you create before the buildings have absolutely no harmony together? It makes more sense for LEGO to create similar architectures/building methods, but simply change the theme of the building. Thirdly, I think this Pet Shop from a personal point of view looks beautiful, and it captures everything thats great about the toy. One reason I didn't like the Grand Emporium was because they tried to cram the principle of a large shopping mall inside a relatively small space, and for me it lacked detail inside. The Pet Shop on the other hand is perfectly suited to this size building, and is better suited to a town scale and look. The miniturisation of pets is also a wonderful idea. They're my thoughts any way but I won't be paying any more than £99 for this. LEGO's pricing is often confusing! For example, the Fire Brigade contains more parts than the Grand Emporium (2231 compared to 2182), and yet the F.B is £99 while the G.E is £132.99? No sense what so-ever. This Pet Shop contains 2032 pieces, so I'm hoping it won't break the 3-figure barrier in pricing! Quote
