Ghandidcm Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 They're my thoughts any way but I won't be paying any more than £99 for this. LEGO's pricing is often confusing! For example, the Fire Brigade contains more parts than the Grand Emporium (2231 compared to 2182), and yet the F.B is £99 while the G.E is £132.99? No sense what so-ever. This Pet Shop contains 2032 pieces, so I'm hoping it won't break the 3-figure barrier in pricing! I don't know the exact prices in Pound, but all the modular sets I have bought where 149,- EURO. So I think this will be the same price. Quote
Jed Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 (edited) This means that time is about to be called on the 10197 Fire Brigade then, right? Getting that this month, lets hope it doesn't dissapear from the Lego Shop too soon.. Love the look of this set, but I'm not mad about the 'Pets' sign. May have to Mod that, I think it will always bother me (although I can't see any reason from these photos (obviously limited!) why the 'S' can't be shaped better, if it's built the way I think it is). Definitely getting this.... Edited May 4, 2011 by Jed Quote
Waaltje Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 This set looks great.. only thing is the Pets sign.. something about the letter S seems off to me :s Still, i am for sure getting this..! Quote
The Dutch Guy Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 I have been waiting all these weeks for the new modular building and i'm not disapointed. I love the details of both houses. They will look splendid between the others. I am fortunate to own all four modular buildings and they are getting better and better. Would have loved more minifigs, but i have more than enough in my own collection for adding. Great work TLG. Can't wait until i can buy it en put it all together. Quote
Aanchir Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 Cool and nice to see a pett shop...but no new animals? Old dog style again? No maybe differet colors for the birds? Uhmm... The dog is in fact the new style, even though he appears to be in a new color (possibly even with a new face print). And I don't think anyone was expecting new molds in a D2C set, particularly not a modular building (where the emphasis is usually on reusing old parts in creative ways). Different colors for the birds would have been nice, though. And as unrealistic as it might be, I really hope printed parrots return someday... It seems to me more like light yellow than tan according to this: http://www.brickiwiki.com/page/Lego+Color+Chart But maybe, I am not expert on Lego colors. Enclosed - left is tan, right is light yellow. Keep in mind that if it isn't tan, it would have to be Cool Yellow (BL's Bright Light Yellow). The original Light Yellow was discontinued years ago. And I don't think the color in the pictures resembles Cool Yellow. I could be wrong, of course. Quote
BudhaBoss Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 Colors do not matter much, at least for me. I am getting this whatever color it has. Now I am starting to look forward for the PO and TH. Quote

ENeuman Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 I will buy one and see if I like it or not. If I like it then I will buy three more to additonal rooms. Quote
IAmWillGibson Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 I really like this set. I love the townhouse part. Not that I can really afford these big sets, I... might wanna see if I can make this work. Although for a pet store you think they coulda thrown in a goat or something! Quote

lightningtiger Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 Hey, 'Jed' has a point about the letters spelling 'PETS'.....they are all totally different widths ! They nailed it for the GE but sadly missed on this one.....why didn't I see that this morning ? answer.....no scotch ! I guess modifying the sign would improve it even more, need to see the instructions to do so as I might rebuild the my green grocer into one of these 16 wide builds ! Brick On everyone ! Quote
Soulgem Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 It looks to be a bit wider than green grocer, almost as wide as fire brigade. I like it, but it's far from the best modular... The hype around 10218 have maybe been a bit too much, I had extremely high expectations. Anyone know release date? And price? Quote
Ghandidcm Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 Anyone know release date? And price? The release date is May 10th and the price will be 149,- EURO. Quote
kibosh Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 <snipped>I honestly think that these would have been more interesting if they were sold as stand-alone sets as the size of the buildings is the most interesting element here.</snipped> While I love this set as a whole, I also LOVE the size of these buildings. Lego should certainly entertain the idea of selling more this size at half the price. It seems many pass on these amazing sets because of the high price point. $75 USD would certainly open them up to more AFOLs! Quote
Follows Closely Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 (edited) Now that I see this again, I was not as close as I thought. Memory is a funny thing. Of course I will be getting this set. Also, well done keeping images from leaking for so long LEGO! Edited May 4, 2011 by Follows Closely Quote
AndyC Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 This means that time is about to be called on the 10197 Fire Brigade then, right? Getting that this month, lets hope it doesn't dissapear from the Lego Shop too soon.. I'm not so sure, 10197 is pictured on the box and TLG generally don't like to advertise sets that aren't going to be available. Which would imply that Fire Brigade is going to be around for a while yet. It looks to be a bit wider than green grocer, almost as wide as fire brigade. I like it, but it's far from the best modular... The hype around 10218 have maybe been a bit too much, I had extremely high expectations. Er, both Fire Brigade and Green Grocer are 32 studs wide, as this will be. FB just looks fatter because it's not quite as tall. Personally I really like this one, it's not quite as majestic a building but there are a lot of little details that just make the set. I really love the way they've made that paint roller, very clever and unusual use of parts. Quote
Still Raindrop Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 I have to say, I'm pretty excited about this set! It's the first modular set that I think could fit into my town nicely; I'll have to ask for this for Christmas. Quote
gotoAndLego Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 So there are some child minifigs in this set...would that make them the Pet Shop Boys? Nyuk nyuk nyuk. Quote
Gregorovich Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 TazmandVl1 has posted a few more images in his flicker stream (link). Sorry if it's already been posted. Thanks, TazmandVl1! Quote
Still Raindrop Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 Lots of interesting parts use for the interior details. The paint roller and pan are brilliant. It looks like the toilet bowl is made from this piece in white, rather than making this piece, which has been used for toilets before, in white. It's an interesting decision, but good in that it allows for a tank to be affixed (though I'm not entirely sure how, as the tank looks like the studs are oriented up). Looks like they used a black lightsaber handle for a phone; another interesting decision. I'm not too impressed with that lamp, but that's a minor thing. The interiors of both buildings look great, with lots of nice details! Quote
snaillad Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 I don't know the exact prices in Pound, but all the modular sets I have bought where 149,- EURO. So I think this will be the same price. FB @ shop @ Home is 99GBP but 149-169 Euro's depending on country so perhaps pounds may be slightly lower. I guess slightly lower than GE, but could just be wishful thinking! Quote
LegoFan03 Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 I know it is early to discuss this... I noticed that new two modular buildings give some hints that I think next modular building would be: -Flowers = Florist Shop? -Letter = Post Office? -Painting Roll = Art Supplies Store or Hardware Store? -Fish Tank = Seafood Market? Seafood Cafe? -Furniture = Furniture store? Thoughts? Quote

Anyway, the next Winter Village shop is supposedly going to be a post office, so that kind of rules that out. And most of the modulars have had flowers, so I don't see why that would mean anything.
