GRogall Posted May 4, 2011 Author Posted May 4, 2011 I know it is early to discuss this... I noticed that new two modular buildings give some hints that I think next modular building would be: -Flowers = Florist Shop? -Letter = Post Office? -Painting Roll = Art Supplies Store or Hardware Store? -Fish Tank = Seafood Market? Seafood Cafe? -Furniture = Furniture store? Thoughts? it's going to be a Bakery! Quote

mcbbvb Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 It is a little early to discuss this, seeing as we only got the first image yesterday . Anyway, the next Winter Village shop is supposedly going to be a post office, so that kind of rules that out. And most of the modulars have had flowers, so I don't see why that would mean anything. How do you know that the next winter village will be a post office? Can you provide me link the link with this information. Thanks! Quote

kermit Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 I must say im a little let down by the set mainly due to the exterior architectural design which just looks just too simple but its not going to deter me from buying it however the interior does make up for it with lots of furniture which is unlike previous modular buildings. Another well not so much of a let down, but I was expecting a wider variety of animals to be included given the new molds that are out this year like the owls from Harry Potter and chickens from Kingdoms but nevertheless it is still a great set and something different to add to the street layout. I do feel though that the set looks like it was rushed but i could be wrong and is it me or does that orange fish look like one of those Pepperidge Farm fish crackers looks like i`ll have to try and restrain myself from eating it. merman Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 So can we confirm this is a Jamie Bernard (is that his name?) set? Jamie, please shed some light! Quote

Santhor Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 (edited) Not to smash the excitement (that I am definitely a part of) for the Pet Shop, but I can't help but wonder what the "clue", if there is one, is for this set. The girl working on her bike? The painter (actually, I think he's the clue recipient, if you will. Window Washer->House-in-Progress)? EDIT: I just realized that LegoFan03 already mentioned this, so here's my two cents. -Santhor Edited May 4, 2011 by Santhor Quote

Dazmundo Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 Multiple people who work for TLG have told me it will be a Post Office! I'm sure I read somthing about there being a Winter Village Post Office later this year so I can't see them doing a Modular Post Office too. D Quote
sonicstarlight Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 I'm not sure that I believe that there are clues anymore. I get the CC to GG connection with the green cherries, and the GG to FB connection with the fire hydrant, but I never bought the FB to GE connection (was it ultimately decided on the lady with the purse?). If this came after the FB, then I could see the connection in the dog, but I can't think of any hint in the GE that would lead to the Pet Shop. That said, if there is a clue, I hope it is the bicycle hinting at a bicycle supplier/repair shop. I would love to see some colors other than red and green. Quote
WetWired Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 It's better than my poor attempt at a pet store using leftover pieces though I must say I'm a bit disappointed in the result, it's on par with market street which I never bothered picking up. Now if they would make my costume corner a set I'd buy that :P Quote
Vindicare Posted May 5, 2011 Posted May 5, 2011 (edited) Is there really confirmation of a May 10th release? It's not on S@H yet, unlike the Maersk train, with availability saying April 1st, and more others. Why are so many people suggesting animals like owls, goats, and chickens were included in the pet shop. What pet shop sells owls? I'm not even too sure about goats/chickens...none that I've been to do... Edited May 5, 2011 by Legocrazy81 Quote

It's LEGO, it didn't have to make perfect sense. :) Quote

Sounds good! :) I don't mind if bakery would be next in the modular collection line. :) The most logical conclusion would be: animals = butcher! LOL! That would be awesome. I don't mind either. Hmm... did we have animals in the GE? I think there are no hints. True. Someone here mentioned a while ago that the only clue that person could think of... Window washer from GE that leads to painting. The most logical conclusion would be: animals = butcher! We will see! :) I'm not sure that I believe that there are clues anymore. Gryphon Ink Posted May 5, 2011 Posted May 5, 2011 I think it looks beautiful, but of course I haven't been in on the slowly growing hype and expectation like so many people here who have been collecting them for the last several years. In fact, I probably won't buy this one either, because my wife would most likely toss me out on my ear if I spent that kind of money on a single Lego set, no matter how pretty it was. But still, I think it's gorgeous. Some thoughts: Is the fact that it's two separate buildings creating a sort of optical illusion that makes people think it's not as cool as it really is? I can sort of see that effect, because you look at the GE and think "wow, that's an impressive building", and then look at this and see two far less impressive buildings, which sort of makes you forget that as one set, you're getting roughly the same amount of bricks and probably the same number of interesting features. I actually think it's really nice to have two separate buildings. It would have been even cooler if they were sold separately so that some of us who have budget restrictions could buy them. And before anybody tells me that the modulars are actually great value for money, I do understand that - but the fact remains that they cost a big chunk of money. I'm a wee bit disappointed that there weren't a couple more animals here. People have mentioned owls, but I believe it's actually illegal to sell owls as pets in most countries. Even where it's not illegal, there aren't many people who want to keep great big birds of prey in their house, unless they live in the Potterverse. But I would have liked to see rabbits or hamsters. Okay, so I'm informed that TLG don't usually include new molds in Modular sets. So what about rats? Rats are pretty popular pets. I work in a vet's office, and I can say with complete certainty that rats are far more popular pets than frogs. We could have done with a couple of exotic critters, too, such as a snake or a spider. Ideas for modding, I suppose. Maybe they sell the exotics at the downtown branch! I am, however, enchanted by the runaway parrot perched on the roof! And a toilet! Awesome! Delivery entrance in the back? Superb! Quote
Sooner Bricks Posted May 5, 2011 Posted May 5, 2011 Uploaded a few more pictures, with a few descriptions of the completed Town House. Was wanting to finish the whole build tonight but had to work late, and usually do laundry on Wednesday nights. I am a single dad of a 7 year old boy. So things don't always go according to plan. Anyway Thanks to everyone for the comments, etc. Quote

cesium_salami Posted May 5, 2011 Posted May 5, 2011 OK, so I'm 3/4 of the way through the build now. A few comments: I'm not a fan of the way the levels of this modular stack together. Instead of having the plates on the underside of the floor that lock in the next level, these rely on 3-4 studs around the edges of the bottom floor. It uses the same method the smaller creator sets do, but doesn't feel right. The bottom front floor of the Pet Shop building is a lot like the Green Grocer first floor. A LOT. This may make it blend in seamlessly next to the GG, but as far as variety goes, there is little. The inside isn't as populated as I thought it would be either: a dog, a cat, an aquarium, a shelf and a register are about all there are. The positives though: The Pet shop staircase is hinged on some technic pins, so you can move it out of the way to get to the dog pen. The colors are really nice, the Maersk blue gives some nice variety to the buildings. The townhouse has a lot of cool features: bathroom, phone, trap door, spiral staircase, rooftop garden. I really like the railings on the front door too. There is a lot of reddish brown though, and the roof itself is kind of plain: just a few tiles and a chimney (where's the fireplace?). Overall, as a few others have said, it would have been awesome if this were two separate sets. I don't feel like I'm building something really big, and a lot of build is just building up walls with normal bricks. Still, an above average modular building would be an outstanding normal City set.
