BudhaBoss Posted May 5, 2011 Posted May 5, 2011 Multiple people who work for TLG have told me it will be a Post Office! I can confirm the PO as winter set. And no, next modular building is not police station, nor repair shop. The only title that could be modular in the list of 1022x is Town Hall (no, I have not seen the picture, just the title). Quote

The Yellow Brick Posted May 5, 2011 Posted May 5, 2011 The house side looks great, The why it's designed is great. and the colour scheme is really cozy Quote
kris kelvin Posted May 5, 2011 Posted May 5, 2011 For me it`s very good set. The two building idea is very smart. Of course it`s not the same like in the past we have waited for Green Grocer, but this fantastic line is in very good condition In my opinion this set is better than Fire Brigade and Grand Emporium but of course worst than Cafe Corner and Green Grocer. Overall it`s sweet set I must to buy. Good work Lego Quote

I'm already picturing it, white with a grand foyer, maybe one large floor with a smaller floor above that like the Fire Brigade. I see it in more of a FB/GE look than CC/GG/PS. Okay that's it from Baseless Speculation Theatre. Quote
merman Posted May 5, 2011 Posted May 5, 2011 Very funny thing I noticed. The Modulars seems to be altering in price somewhat, number of booklets (so complexity?) and details... 1. 10182 Café Corner - EUR 149.99 - 2 booklets 2. 10185 Green Grocer - EUR 159.99 - 3 booklets 3. 10197 Fire Brigade - EUR 149.99 - 2 booklets 4. 10211 Grand Emporium - EUR 149.99 - 3 booklets 5. 10218 Pet Shop/Town House - EUR 149.99 - 2 booklets so the possible Town Hall may become huge! Glad I didn't get too far on my own town hall modular MOC (only started working on it last weekend too - before putting it in the too hard basket). For what it's worth, I was using the town hall from Back To The Future as my inspiration. Now to get back to work on my modular bank MOC!!! Edited May 5, 2011 by Younge Quote
Jasper Joppe Geers Posted May 5, 2011 Posted May 5, 2011 Now that is someting i don't understand. Why would you stop creating your own Town Hall? Not just because were talking Town hall here i hope?... Quote
nesquik Posted May 5, 2011 Posted May 5, 2011 How do we know that this 'source' is correct in saying a Town Hall will be released? Quote
Younge Posted May 5, 2011 Posted May 5, 2011 Now that is someting i don't understand. Why would you stop creating your own Town Hall? Not just because were talking Town hall here i hope?... I stopped building it because I had the equivalent of writer's block - LDD block?!?! I didn't delete what I've done so far, so I can always go back to it when I get some inspiration!!! Quote
blueandwhite Posted May 5, 2011 Posted May 5, 2011 A town hall is an interesting idea which would look quite good as a corner building. Much like the Fire Brigade, it will be interesting to see if this develops into a North American style town hall or into a European one. My personal preference is for an American town hall but I would be happy with either. Hopefully if such a building is in the pipeline we will see it this fall. Quote
Aanchir Posted May 5, 2011 Posted May 5, 2011 OK, so I'm 3/4 of the way through the build now. A few comments: I'm not a fan of the way the levels of this modular stack together. Instead of having the plates on the underside of the floor that lock in the next level, these rely on 3-4 studs around the edges of the bottom floor. It uses the same method the smaller creator sets do, but doesn't feel right. The bottom front floor of the Pet Shop building is a lot like the Green Grocer first floor. A LOT. This may make it blend in seamlessly next to the GG, but as far as variety goes, there is little. The inside isn't as populated as I thought it would be either: a dog, a cat, an aquarium, a shelf and a register are about all there are. The positives though: The Pet shop staircase is hinged on some technic pins, so you can move it out of the way to get to the dog pen. The colors are really nice, the Maersk blue gives some nice variety to the buildings. The townhouse has a lot of cool features: bathroom, phone, trap door, spiral staircase, rooftop garden. I really like the railings on the front door too. There is a lot of reddish brown though, and the roof itself is kind of plain: just a few tiles and a chimney (where's the fireplace?). Overall, as a few others have said, it would have been awesome if this were two separate sets. I don't feel like I'm building something really big, and a lot of build is just building up walls with normal bricks. Still, an above average modular building would be an outstanding normal City set. It's Sand Blue, not Maersk Blue. If I'm correct, LEGO isn't actually allowed to use Maersk Blue in non-licensed sets since the color is trademarked by Maersk. Also, there is a fireplace, according to the lower-left image here. Perhaps it's just not added until the house is furnished? Quote

I'm wondering about the blue tiles on the pet shop floor: I thought they might be the new shade of blue introduced with Alien Conquest. Quote

I believe this is on the 2nd story of the Pet Shop as indicated by the blue walls and the small windows on the upper floor visible in that photo. Quote

The Yellow Brick Posted May 5, 2011 Posted May 5, 2011 That's quite a good way that LEGO designed the toilet . Also notice the basement door, Nice addition to the set aswell Quote
Aanchir Posted May 5, 2011 Posted May 5, 2011 I believe this is on the 2nd story of the Pet Shop as indicated by the blue walls and the small windows on the upper floor visible in that photo. Hmmm... that's odd. So there's a chimney for the town house and a fireplace for the pet shop? That confuses me a bit. Perhaps the designers designed the fireplace for the town house but ended up moving it when they didn't have enough interesting contents for the pet shop (forgetting to move the chimney)? Alternatively, since the two buildings are conjoined, perhaps the chimney on the roof of one building connects to the fireplace of the other. It'd be weird as heck, but on the back of the box since the buildings are switched the chimney of the town house is directly up against the roof of the pet shop, making at least slightly more plausible. Love that toilet, and it's built kind of like how I suspected. However, I'm disappointed to find that this build does not work on LDD. I'll have to report that so it gets fixed in a future update. Jasper Joppe Geers Posted May 5, 2011 Posted May 5, 2011 Question here: The main blue color of the Pet Shop building, is that sand blue, Blue-violet, or something new?... Quote

NO...The Pet Shop is 3 stories, the pet shop itself takes up the first floor and there is a flight of stairs on the right of the shop. The stairs lead to the 2nd Story townhouse which has the fireplace. Quote

SwissBrick Posted May 5, 2011 Posted May 5, 2011 Eventhough I will definitely buy this set, I must admit that I am a bit disappointed... I love some of the interiors, there are certainly a lot of new and special building techniques, some feature are really nice (i.e. trap door to basement).... But pleeeaaase, what a simple and let me say "ugly" PETS sign... Sure I am influenced by all the great MOCs we see around... but particulars don't have the "power" and resources that TLG has and yet, they do better:... But my most criticism goes to the overall look/design.... Just take the following Colonial House it looks much better than the residential house from this set... OK I am a bit nasty here but oh well after all the great modular buildings produced up to here I couldn't imagine being disappointed at that point a day... Quote
DutchTreat Posted May 5, 2011 Posted May 5, 2011 If those roof pieces are dark red, people should have an easier time making Cafe Corner via Bricklink (and not have to order them from Norway like some impatient people). I am excited to see the interiors, the back makes it look like it will be quite filled out. Would be great indeed! The last dark red roofpieces went for 2 Euro's EACH! Quote
kermit Posted May 5, 2011 Posted May 5, 2011 You are right im very disappointed as well just look at the walls on the sides for example the set looks like another creator house which makes me think about the price really being wort it. Quote
AwesomeTaylor Posted May 5, 2011 Posted May 5, 2011 Would be great indeed! The last dark red roofpieces went for 2 Euro's EACH! That's nothing, I just paid $45 for 17 1x1 plates in dark orange!!! Quote
