Silverface Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 Hi everyone! I adore the Harry Potter set the graveyard duel 4766 very much and I would like to have it. But because Lego doesn't sell it anymore my only choice is to lay my trust in Bricklink. Now because Bricklink is full of businessmen, they know how much I would be ready to pay for it and they raise the price. What should I do? Thanks! Silverface
Clone OPatra Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 I don't really understand what you're asking here. Are you saying that the prices on Bricklink are too high for you, so you'd like other options? If that is what you meant, there really isn't much you can do. Watch Ebay and try to get lucky, but beyond that the price is going to be high no matter where you go.
mikey Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 ... Now because Bricklink is full of businessmen, they know how much I would be ready to pay for it and they raise the price. ... Welcome to the real world. You pays your money and you takes your choice.

CMP Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 Just Bricklink the parts. Can't be any more worse than the price in box.
escortmad79 Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 No, I was not asking other options, I asked is it worth it... Well thanks "Mickey", but I am not interested of your world. I want to live in reality! This is reality! It's discontinued! It's Harry Potter! It's sought after! It's expensive! Simple! Don't like/trust Bricklink then try eBay! It'll be just as expensive on there!

Silverface It's a really cool set that I own, but definitely not worth the prices on bricklink. As someone else suggested, buy parts separately for it, in fact, I'd suggest downloading a copy of the instructions from lego.com and work out what sections of the set you like most and just make those bits (most of the sub-sets look pretty good on their own). Also, just substitute in some slightly different minifigs (some have been updated since the set was released anyway).
davee123 Posted March 18, 2011 Posted March 18, 2011 Now because Bricklink is full of businessmen, they know how much I would be ready to pay for it and they raise the price. OK, ask yourself: how much WOULD you pay? Put it on your BrickLink "wanted list", and wait. Someday, maybe you'll get lucky and someone will put one up for cheaper. Or maybe not. Apart from eBay and BrickLink, your only options are really more like dumb luck. Hunt on Craigslist, visit yard sales, ask fellow fans. You probably won't get lucky, but it's possible. But meanwhile, you'll either have to decide whether or not it's worth it to you to shell out for the set at the higher prices! DaveE

It's what I do with all the Batman sets, for their prices on Bricklink and amazon are just ridiculous. If you don't mind having no box and no printed instruction, then go for it! Usually you pay about the price the set would cost if it still was on the shelves, maybe a bit more. Good luck!

Sirius Black Posted March 21, 2011 Posted March 21, 2011 I'd monitor eBay for it. I was able to get mine 100% complete for about $60 if I remember. I was able to save about $90 USD by waiting for a deal on eBay.
