Not sure if I'm allowed to do this, but... has anyone seen this?

There are various good points and various inaccuracies. Overall, it looks pretty good. It's got some nice greebling.

Can it really be that this is 2 years old?

At least the YouTube account states so - anyways it's a cool midi and I've blogged it.

Now who is that guy?

My thoughts exactly, anybody have a youtube account? I want to talk about this model with its maker...

Wow, that's great. I wonder how he did those angles - the parts used in the official Venator set make the model way to blocky and steep.

Would be great to see building instructions for this. I want to build a minifig Venator soon and advice would be helpful. But I guess we'll have to find the guy first.

Technic frame, some hinges; it's a relatively simple design once you figure it out. Something akin to the UCS or Midi ISDs would work. 'Minifig Venator'? I hope you have a ton of space. At 1:40 scale, I believe that's close to 100 feet long.

Long, but not 100 feet. Think about the size of a Venators bridge, it'd probably be about 30 feet long...

I don't know. I calculated 1137 meters long, multiplied by 39.37 (to inches), divided by 40 (to 1:40 scale), divided by 12 (to feet) = 93.2576875. That was a quick calculation, though, not sure if I missed some crucial step.

Well let's see... a Venator is 1137m; if 3 studs = 1 meter and 1 stud = 8mm a minifigure-scale Venator would be 3411 studs or 27.29m in length. In stud-to-foot scale, 1137m = 3730ft (rounded for sig figs) so a minifigure-scaled one would be 3730 studs, about 29.84m. brickartist I don't know where you're getting this 30ft measurement... maybe the fact that your UCS BARC turned out at least twice the size of Reto's has something to do with this.

IDK, I was thinking something about comparing the size of the bridge and comparing. Canon demensions aren't always great.

Oops, that's not what I meant - I mean a Venator in the same scale as TLG's official ISD and Venator sets. I can't afford monster projects like that (yet)

I've been trying hinges and a technic frame, of course, it's just really fragile, but let's talk about that once I've figured it out and made my own thread.

10030 is 37" and an Imperial-class is 1600m... a Venator scaled to 10030 would be around 26.29" long.
