Governor Mister Phes Posted June 28, 2006 Author Governor Posted June 28, 2006 The extent of furniture in pirate sets extended as far as a table... The was a chimney in Rock Island Refuge and Imperial Outpost and a bench in Lagoon Lockup, but that's about as far as it went. The interior isn't really that large so I don't think it'll be able to accomodate a bed but a table and chairs might be achievable. As for the spiral stair case... I don't even a grey one... I've got the original inline stair case though, but its not quite the same is it? Quote
Norrington Posted December 14, 2006 Posted December 14, 2006 buy that will work if you strech it out and make it wider to the edges of the base plate or BP for short Quote
Capn Frank Posted December 14, 2006 Posted December 14, 2006 Hey Mister Phes, So you do make mocs! This is a nice moc! Considering the limitations you've imposed on yourself. I agree w/ suvieD about getting rid of the cannon and calling it a villa. Hey what about a servent mini-fig? That might be pushing the mini-fig count a little high, but i think the governor's mansion(err villa) should have a servent boy or girl. Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted December 15, 2006 Author Governor Posted December 15, 2006 When I get my new digital camera I will be revisiting this MOC so I probably will rid the cannon and call it a villa. I'll probably also remove the soldier mini-figures, but a servant? Is that politically correct these days? Quote

Is that politically correct these days? Ever since you said 'Eskimo' you've been in trouble! Since you scored me... or us... for MENTIONING ;-) your MOCs in the Brickster's post, I feel that now I can properly ask... the Gov's mansion looks a lot like an Armada MOC you have, now I must ask, can the two exist at the same time? Or does the existence of the mansion mean the Armada MOC is dead? Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted December 15, 2006 Author Governor Posted December 15, 2006 ESKIMO!!! ESKIMO!!! ESKIMO!!! ESKIMO!!! <- Just had to get that out... Now onto the answering the question... No, the two cannot exist at the same time because they are one and the same! You see the Imperial Armada was occupying the mansion for lack of a better outpost, but eventually they found a much more suitable building (to be depicted in a future MOC). Governor Broadside was out for a cruise one day and spotted the abandoned mansion and went to investigate. He liked it so much he decided to make it his residency so what you see here is the renovating process. However, if you'd read both threads then you'd know I originally intended to build a Imperial Armada fort, but it turned out looking too elegant so I began evolving into a residence for Governor Broadside. I did read the posts, but the two actually do use different parts/colors in some places, so I was just curious as to if they COULD both exist separately, or if you had to recycle enough parts to make it impossible. Governor Mister Phes Posted December 15, 2006 Author Governor Posted December 15, 2006 There are a few specialised pieces which I don't have enough to make two. These include plates with one curved corner and that white railing at the front. Quote

Captain Green Hair Posted October 24, 2007 Posted October 24, 2007 Nice mansion, i'd love to have a place like that! *y* Maybe a small piece of private beach could be a nice adittion? Quote
Col. Whipstick Posted October 25, 2007 Posted October 25, 2007 Yeah I like it, hard not to. i agree with what you said though Mr Phes, ideally it should be inland a bit and maybe the rowboat could be replaced with a carriage of some manufacture. All the pirate sets tend to be adjacent to water but it would be nice to see some sense of elevation or inland design. Broadside's Brig seems to show itself that way, like it belongs on a street in the colony. But that little MOC gets the thumbs up for me in terms of the general architecture because whilst it's tempting to make the mansion more elegant and elaborate the thing has to be in keeping with the level of design in the official sets to carry off the compatability. Certainly get yourself a copy of 1492 and have a look at the mansion they build in San Salvador, sure it will inspire you. Quote
