samshaw44 Posted May 22, 2011 Posted May 22, 2011 This is absolutely amazing, especially as it is essentially just a base for something I'm imagining will be incredible when finished. The last chapter will be a hill/mountain with the castle on top of it. I cannot wait to see that, especially the scale of the thing, seeing the beginnings of the hill already.
maydayartist Posted May 23, 2011 Author Posted May 23, 2011 Wow! That is some amazing looking land there. It is beyond cool. I'm curious, what's your reasoning for building this? Convention? Fan of the medieval times? Just because you can. A fan of medieval times fits best. And just because you can? Hm thats difficult, I would say it´s a conclusion to the fact that I have collect all the lego castles and have to do something like that. And I absolutely love landscapes, trees and historical buildings. And a convention would be a nice way to show it everyone but this isn´t planed in the near future. This is great.. Its huge. It must be hard to keep it dust free. That is not a really big problem. The Dust inhere isn´t really extreme and old parts and plates with dust on it could easily clean up with a shoe brush and a little bit water
maydayartist Posted May 25, 2011 Author Posted May 25, 2011 Bad News, I´m running out of black bricks bigger than 3. And with only one, two and three bricks I couldn´t build the two big walls on the backside of the last chapter. But don´t worry, I have taken the (for me useless) black castle panel. The only problem is the window. I will try a good solution later. The next step after the boring wall build is the countinue of the ramp and other than on five the ramp on six is constructed on technic bricks to give the track different angles. And it works perfect, better than expected. The reason for that is to save my amount of brown plates , to reach the high that I have to reach and to give the track a more natural look. Another problem will be the use of a drawbridge. Actually there is no space for that. We will see if it will be possible or not.
Mr. McDuck Posted May 25, 2011 Posted May 25, 2011 Wow! The track is amazing. I hope you wont give up.
airsoftg36c Posted May 25, 2011 Posted May 25, 2011 *picks jaw off floor* Really coming along nicely! Keep up the good work, and it sounds like there are gonna be a few BL orders :)
Stormbringer Posted May 25, 2011 Posted May 25, 2011 I need to look into that road elevation technique of yours. Very useful!
matrixrenegade Posted May 25, 2011 Posted May 25, 2011 This continues to look amazing. Just a fantastic job.
Amiechan Posted May 25, 2011 Posted May 25, 2011 Really great world! :D And such a huge amount of bricks...
MstrOfPppts Posted May 25, 2011 Posted May 25, 2011 Amazing work, I just have one question - why do you have to reach that height in the corner? The road just looks to steep in the middle section, especially for pulling carriages ...
maydayartist Posted May 25, 2011 Author Posted May 25, 2011 (edited) Amazing work, I just have one question - why do you have to reach that height in the corner? The road just looks to steep in the middle section, especially for pulling carriages ... That´s a really good question. The answer is a little bit strange after all the build so far. I have a picture in my mind before I start all this and on that, the Castle overtop the whole scenery. And that 'must have' didn´t change in my mind for all the time. And you are right, one short section of it are nearly 45°. A little bit heavy but that was medieval life And for the fact that I have been home today (ill ) I could give you another update, not with new specials but solid rocking until the next update Edited May 25, 2011 by maydayartist
Lego Otaku Posted May 25, 2011 Posted May 25, 2011 Is that a cave I see on the left side of the picture?
Donut Posted May 26, 2011 Posted May 26, 2011 I am glad to see that everything is coming along very nicely.
MstrOfPppts Posted May 26, 2011 Posted May 26, 2011 Ha, that really is a strange answer ... though there is still time to change it and I think the current height is quite enough and it already has the over top feeling, since it's higher than the rest of the scenario. I usually always mess my MOCs when it comes to angles in my head, which come out quite different when I put it together. Anyway I'm not trying to convince you anything, it's just a sugestion from how I see it. After all it's still a great MOC and I'm hardly waiting for upcoming updates!
Such Posted May 26, 2011 Posted May 26, 2011 Very excited to see the finish product I get a very Legend of Zelda vibe when I see your baseplate
maydayartist Posted May 26, 2011 Author Posted May 26, 2011 Is that a cave I see on the left side of the picture? Yep, not really deep. Only for variety in the surface. Ha, that really is a strange answer ... though there is still time to change it and I think the current height is quite enough and it already has the over top feeling, since it's higher than the rest of the scenario. I usually always mess my MOCs when it comes to angles in my head, which come out quite different when I put it together. Anyway I'm not trying to convince you anything, it's just a sugestion from how I see it. After all it's still a great MOC and I'm hardly waiting for upcoming updates! But your argument is right. The advantage for me is that nothing new has been done on the last step of the track, so the change could be done without any trouble.
kabel Posted May 26, 2011 Posted May 26, 2011 I think the hight of the mountain is totally cool and therefore not the problem. So keep the mountain and maybe make the road more winding up that hill back and forth (you know, Serpentinen - don't know the word in English)
Alex the Great Posted June 1, 2011 Posted June 1, 2011 Just saw the update on chapter 6; it's looking good! It's nearly done and I can't wait to see it bustling with minifigs.
Brig. Brick Posted June 1, 2011 Posted June 1, 2011 this MOC became looks like a work of art, instead of a Lego creation. every detail, every piece, the use of textures and color, simply wonderful
Abu Dun Posted June 1, 2011 Posted June 1, 2011 this MOC became looks like a work of art, instead of a Lego creation. every detail, every piece, the use of textures and color, simply wonderful I completely agree, although I think that every last one of those massive MOCs (regardless of the theme) can be considered art. In fact, creating something out of LEGO might already be a certain kind of art, as the way of creating it probably isn't all too different from, e.g., sculpturing something out of stone.
Pizinho Posted June 1, 2011 Posted June 1, 2011 I've been following up this topic and I have just on word to express my feelings: AMAZING. This MOC is going to be fantastic, I cant wait to see it done! Congratulations!
