me too ! I wander if this has anything to do with the black pin in the middle of the picture (since I'm pretty sure we all used it to stay focussed)

I don't think so, but it might. I tried it while looking at the flag on the left tower, and it still worked.

It'll work with just about anything, as long as you're focused on that one thing the whole time. It has to do with the pieces of the eye called rods and cones--the rods see black and white, and the cones see color. By focusing on the black pin (or other part of the picture, if you so choose), you are exercising your rods. Then (while still focusing, of course) when the cursor moves into the picture, you see it out the corner of your eye and throws the focus just a little bit--enough to fire up the cones. Since there's no color in the picture, the cones have nothing to see, right? Well, since they've been unused this whole time, they let off some chemicals to regain balance, thus causing you to see the image in color.

lol Sorry, neurobiology is a little interest of mine. X-D

thats pretty amazing. I think the trick is that the castle is only a slightly different color than it is when you hold your mouse over it without staring so it is not imediately recognized by your brain as being grey, i suppose your brain then assumes the rest of the picture is in color aswell and compensates for the missing colors itself. Does that sound possible?
