Omicron Posted March 24, 2011 Posted March 24, 2011 I don't think I really need to explain this character. :P Reference * Crown decal by iMinifig, reapplied by me. * Hair is Sidan Toy * Sword is BrickForge * Everything else is me -Omi Quote
smittyfan Posted March 24, 2011 Posted March 24, 2011 Nice! she looks better than a lot of the video game pictures I've seen of her. Did you actually chop up a minifigure's hand to make the ears? Quote
Omicron Posted March 24, 2011 Author Posted March 24, 2011 Did you actually chop up a minifigure's hand to make the ears? Nope. Bananas. :) -Omi Quote
Baylego Posted March 25, 2011 Posted March 25, 2011 Wow, awesome! I always love seeing the custom LoZ minifigs that you make. Quote
XimenaPaulina Posted March 25, 2011 Posted March 25, 2011 Very nice! Love the improvised ear and the crown detail. But isn't the hair supposed to be brown like in the ref. image? Quote
Omicron Posted March 25, 2011 Author Posted March 25, 2011 But isn't the hair supposed to be brown like in the ref. image? It is. The flash on my camera is broken, so it appears darker in the photo. :P You know I wouldn't skimp on details. :P -Omi Quote
JimBee Posted March 25, 2011 Posted March 25, 2011 Looks good Omi. I hope to see this recent spree of Zelda figures continue! I only have a few suggestions: - The hair just doesn't seem right, IMO this one would be closer to the reference image's. - Is that torso a decal? It's almost perfect for Zelda, but very simplistic in contrast to the rest of the minifig parts. If it is a decal, might I suggest making it more detailed? Also, very cool idea to use chips from a Lego banana for the ears. They look good here. Quote

This particular piece does. :P The torso is this with a white sticker applied to make the pink look like it should be in the pink. I'm going back to my roots of customizing by using what I have made for me rather than just make things from scratch and also keep it as Lego as possible. Most people don't realize that the answer is right in front of them. I originally wanted to use a MMCB vest here, but his store is currently closed for restocking. As for the spree, it won't be ending anytime soon. It is my headlining project this year, so my mind is focused. Now that I got the 3 big kahunas out of the way, I can finish off Vaati, Agahnim and Dark Link, and also start working on Tingle, Veran and Onox. I am also make the the four Links from Four Swords. -Omi Edited March 25, 2011 by Omicron Quote
alanboar HK Posted April 2, 2011 Posted April 2, 2011 You made the pretty princess crown! good work Quote
Aanchir Posted April 2, 2011 Posted April 2, 2011 Fairly nice! A few things bug me though. For starters, I think it would have been cool if she could have been given eyes with visible whites like Link and Ganondorf both have. Hitomi's face from Exo-Force would have about the same facial expression as both the current face you're using and the face in your reference pic, and since the hair is long the more ridiculous screaming face on the other side shouldn't pose any problems. The crown is very nice although it seems a bit fragile. The outfit is also good. I wish there was a better color of torso, like Bright Reddish Violet (BL's Magenta). There is Bright Purple (BL's Dark Pink for post-2004 sets), but none of the prints on torsos in that color look quite right and thus would require heavier customization. The ears are a bit blocky, but I can't think of any way you could make a sharper, more delicate ear just by modifying existing parts. Perhaps if you were to soften the ears you currently have with heat and mold them into a better shape with your fingers? (Wearing gloves, of course-- I for one wouldn't want to touch ABS at that temperature) Overall, I'm very impressed with this custom, but not as much as with Link or Ganondorf. True, Link and Ganondorf didn't have very complex modification either, but Zelda feels like a more complex character design and so might need more work to fashion her likeness from existing parts. The smaller selection of LEGO parts designed for female characters doesn't help either. I hope you might consider improving on this one in the future to better match the refined look of your other two TLoZ customs. Quote
Omicron Posted April 2, 2011 Author Posted April 2, 2011 I hope you might consider improving on this one in the future to better match the refined look of your other two TLoZ customs. I intend on it. I was wanting to match the heads, but I only had one Hitomi head, and Tetra has it and I have no patience waiting for another one when the fig is that close to being finished. The crown is fragile looking because it is a sticker (which to keep on I glued it to the hair). And because the headpiece is tight, and along with the glue on there, the head is not being changed. I could always change Link's head. :P As for the torso I was wanting to use Sand Purple (like Zam Wesell), but the Light Pink won this round due to the design on it (the frill a the top). Maybe when I make Toon Zelda or Ocarina Zelda, she will be a bit different. :P -Omi Quote
Lord Starkiller Posted April 22, 2011 Posted April 22, 2011 The Photomakes the head look Green! D: but Ver nice! Quote
