jeffrey Posted July 5, 2006 Posted July 5, 2006 I really like Ice Planet 2002 Deep Freeze Defender , this is the second lego set I got when I was small. But once some of its parts were missing, I gave to my cousin and he lost it~!~! When can I bought it back? I think its design is marvellous for serval reasons: 1. Great colour combination of transparent-red ,blue and red, which is the feeling of hi-tech icy 2. Four seperated units, which can from 1, 2 and 4 planes 3. Parts are useful for building a airplane MOC 4. come with numberous of tools, like ice-stake board, drill and cool minifigs Anyway, I love Space Theme *wub* Quote
Darth_Ewok Posted July 5, 2006 Posted July 5, 2006 No way im not looking for a theme with only hero figs. I d rather they all be the same wich is better for building armies I assume you're reffering to my theme idea. My theme will not all be hero minifigs but will include them in a few sets to give the theme some personality. I agree with Jeffery, ice planet was a pretty good space theme. The question I have is, where did it go? Where is lego's imagination? Star wars, batman, sponge bob (lol) none of these sets have imagination put into them. They lack the lego touch that classic castle had, that blacktron had, that adventurers had... Just had to get that out of my system :-/ Quote

Khorne Posted July 6, 2006 Posted July 6, 2006 I thought Magnetron was Blacktron II's ally. Magnetron? Sorry man i think magnetron doesn't exist in Lego space...can you explain what is magnetron? ah, thanks to all to your replies, is nice to see people posting about the space theme Magnetron is M-tron's full name. I saw a scan of a page from an old LEGO catalog on Brickshelf. It said Magnetron on it. this is interesting! where exactly did you see this? I am aware that several countries used to refer to blacktron 1 as "Black Star" and the Canadians refered to Futuron as "Futureworld", so it's not impossible to have one country talking about Magnetron... Well, I found the image, but I apparantly mis-read it because it doesn't say Magnetron, although several of the other M-tron related galleries called them Magnetron. Sorry for the long quote, but isn't magnetron another name for a microwave oven? If so, wouldn't it be kind of rediculous to call a Space faction like that? Quote
xenologer Posted July 7, 2006 Posted July 7, 2006 Sorry for the long quote, but isn't magnetron another name for a microwave oven? If so, wouldn't it be kind of rediculous to call a Space faction like that? Nope, I've never heard of anyone calling a microwave oven a magnetron. Okay... I have no idea where this topic is going since its too long to read it all. But Space right? lately since Lego hasn't been doing anything with Space as a theme (StarWars license is a different idea from 'Space as a theme') I've been generally taking any figs from City sets that have closed suits/uniforms and adding helmets to make spacemen. Firemen, some Construction workers, and the Ferrari pit crew all work pretty well. Quote

[...] I looked it up on Wikipedia and a magnetron is a piece that is used in a microwave oven. Quote
Norro Posted July 7, 2006 Posted July 7, 2006 Magnetron is M-tron's full name. I saw a scan of a page from an old LEGO catalog on Brickshelf. It said Magnetron on it. I always thought it stood for megatron although this MOC goes along with your theory ;-) God Bless, Nathan Quote
snefroe Posted July 7, 2006 Posted July 7, 2006 that's a pretty nice moc ! in any case original! *sweet* Quote
Captain Roger Posted July 7, 2006 Author Posted July 7, 2006 i didn't believe making a perfecft space MOC could be possible because all space "Teams" are realljy different about the colors of their ships but i see i was wrong...did you build that MOC norro? Quote

Yeah, but I remember the guy had an interesting method where he held it with his foot...or something, so that even the head could be used, and the helmet could be filled in with sculpy. Really interesting read, if I knew where to begin looking :-P If anyone else knows where it is, feel free to post it. Quote

Dino_Bot Posted July 14, 2006 Posted July 14, 2006 I wish I had any of the old Space sets, all I got is a boatload of Insectoids. But I want some of the original Exo-Force things, like the Dinosaur thing. And pretty much anything space from the past. Quote

All I can think of is a set from Robo-Force, but that isn't the predacessor to Exo-force any more than Spyruis was ;-) Were you talking about something else? Quote
Dino_Bot Posted July 15, 2006 Posted July 15, 2006 No yes yes that's the one I meant, Roboforce. Spyrius? which are those? Quote
snefroe Posted July 15, 2006 Posted July 15, 2006 robo force is the absolute low point in space, if you're asking me. thank god they never released those 4 terrible sets in Europe. spyrius Quote
Dino_Bot Posted July 15, 2006 Posted July 15, 2006 Well, I thought they were cool...But I think the UFO's were the absolute lowest point...hehehe, altough they had some good pieces, but they weren't as good as Insectoids, or Spyrius, which was a little...before my Lego times. And...well, they haven't made any good Space sets in a while, since when? and what's their next big idea concerning classic space since its obviously some of people's favorites? Right now its Exo-Force, whose pieces can be used for classic space rather well, but, when are we going to get real classic space stuff other than Star Wars? Quote
