Ritz Brick Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 (edited) Posting my first review here and noticed that this one hasn't been done yet. Quite an interesting vehicle to say the least. The amazing Frakjaw minifig was what compelled me to buy this set. Informations Item Number-2263 Pieces- TLC says 223 but on my box it says 298. I dont think I'm going to check Price- $39.99 CDN/$29.99 USD/26.99 GBP Age- 7-14 TLG Description Frakjaw is escaping in his Turbo Shredder with the golden scythe! Sensei Wu has sent Jay and Cole after him. Help the fearless ninjas use Spinjitzu to avoid being swallowed up by the Turbo Shredder. Don’t forget to grab the golden weapon! Set includes Turbo Shredder, 3 minifigures and 3 weapons.•Includes 3 minifigures: Jay, Cole and Frakjaw •Features Turbo Shredder, golden scythe, silver sword and brown spear •Snap the jaws of the Turbo Shredder! •Rotate the Turbo Shredder’s tracks! •Turbo Shredder features massive, detailed engine and exhaust flames! •Turbo Shredder is over 10” (25cm) long and 4” (10cm) wide Front box pic, interesting it doesn't really show off the main feature of the set, rather the golden sythe and the Ninjas. Wonderful artwork though. Mine says 298 pieces... On the back it shows us the biting feature and at the top it shows off the figures included in action poses with their names underneath. Good for the dull eyed collector. Box Contents: This box is actually full. 3 Numbered bags, 2 instruction books and 6 loose parts. No stickers here. 2 bent Instruction books seems very unnecessary for 223 298 223 whatever number of pieces. Instruction front shows off the same box art on the front. What I like is in the back of the 2nd book it shows off a battle scene and a nice list of all the Ninjago characters in action poses. Plus some freaky looking children playing the actual game. I think these two could become friends. Luckily there is no grass in my house. Minifigs: 3 are included, Jay and Cole the ninjas in regular garb plus the skeleton of fire, Frakjaw with the Golden Sythe Jay seems to be missing part of his right eyebrow (both mine have that same mark) and Cole has a lazy eye. Frakjaw is just 100x better with that hat on which has lovely detail. Reminds me of some kind of freaky megablocks scarecrow. Pieces of Interest: I believe the wheels were used in Power Miners set but they were grey. The only printed piece in the set. The Build: We start off building the middle section and the mechanism for making the 'jaw' open and close. The black technic piece coming off the gear will attach to a technic pin on the jaw part. Before adding the front treads. So when the front treads roll, it turns an axle, which turns the gear which makes the black technic piece from before turn thus making the jaw roll forward. The back wheels attatch together nicely. Creating a neat All-Terrain feel to it. The finished set. Prepared to get destroyed by exposed Technic! I really like the way the curved bone pieces fit around Frakjaw, gives the area a nice smoothness. The fire is a bit weird to me as it goes up at almost a 45 degree angle. Frakjaw is truly a madman behind the wheel... or should I saw weird little lever. At least its something compared to the motorcycle. Random instruction page. Parts Inventory So that's the end. I would reccommend this just because Frakjaw is such an amazing fig with the hat and red shoulder armour. Nice way to get one of the golden weapons and 2 ninjas. XimenaPaulina Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 Nice review Ritz, thanks for sharing! I'm not a fan of NinjaGo but there are some 'few gems' that are quite interesting in this set, particularly Frakjaw's hat and the colored flame piece. I think the gap on Jay's eyebrow is supposed to be a scar, but your Cole seems to have a slight misprint on the eye area. Quote
Ro87n Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 Hands up for Ritz and his nice review. Now somethings about this Turbo Shredder... how accurate is this Mini Turbo Shredder I love this 'tiny' version and wonders if someone can review this one too? Quote
