I can't tell for sure from the video, but it looks like it could be stabilized a lot more by putting a technic rod through the center of it and changing the design a bit right? LEGO really should have chosen a different building for this. To be honest, I don't see why people buy any of the architecture sets anyway. Even including the money they have to pay to the designers of the real buildings, around here most of these sets are 2 or 3 times more expensive than a set from another theme with a comparable amount of parts, and most of them have REALLY simple designs. Most of them don't have any particularly rare parts or colors either, other than the printed tile with the name of the building, so the parts could easily be taken out of most people's collections, or bought on bricklink. LEGO should have just put the instructions online for free I think. </rant> For starters, all sets have their instructions online for free. At least, most sets since 2002 and a number of others. So if you want to build these sets from your collection there's nobody stopping you. Meanwhile, I don't even know if the sets are even targeted at people who already have significant LEGO collections. Keep in mind that they're much more likely to show up in bookstores and museum gift shops than at actual toy stores. I think they're mainly targeted at people who want a scale model of the buildings and who appreciate the iconic aesthetics of the plastic brick as a medium. Plastic replicas at museum gift shops can run you a ridiculous amount of money, so needless to say these are a similar type of "specialty models" that probably aren't targeted at the average LEGO fan. As for LEGO choosing a different building, keep in mind that this is one of the most iconic buildings in the world in this day and age. It's the same as my issue with people complaining about "filler" minifigures in the collectible minifigure series. Would you rather that LEGO just completely ignore any perfectly valid ideas that they don't think every LEGO fan will obsess over? If LEGO is confident in their ability to turn a profit on a good idea, then by all means I expect them to make that idea a reality-- even if it isn't going to be universally loved. Lego could have done better with this model...I just hope the future Lego Architect models will be better detailed and could have more work done to it. Truly awful. I'm not even sure whether this set is being released in Canada, and the Architecture series are generally a bit more pricy than other lines. It's right on par, one-for-one, 100%, the Burj Khalifa, commissioned by billionaires with more money than sense (common or design) to be really, really tall. I'm sure many people could try their hand at making a better version in Lego, but would it be worth it? Probably not. The Burj Khalifa is very standard and very tall. Yes, there is engineering that pushes the limits, but it pushes them up, not out, not around corners. And as an "architect" (architecture graduate, cannot legally call myself an architect yet), I think vertical cities are something that should be embraced, but with engineering and concepts that advance our living and our fields of work. So, to cap that off I'm disappointed in the choice of subject, not the kit. A more inspirational subject would have made a big difference. I personally might have chosen the Seagram building - to complement the Farnsworth house. A very simple tower, but with layered plates I think you could achieve a reasonable replica. I sure hope so, and I hope it;s less that £39.99 so instead of importing it from Amazon I can pick it up when I have to take my little cousins to Legoland. I still think it's disgusting that the likes of the Space Needle and Empire State Building cost £20 in the UK, and cost the same amount in dollars across the pond, the equivalent of £12.50. Will the Burj Khalifa be included?? Not that I particularly think I'm gonna buy it, was just wondering.. Quote
