Hmmm.. interesting architecture set. It's actually the first time I've seen this Farnsworth House, nice modern design but not really as iconic as the other previously-released architecture sets. Anyway, thanks for sharing this review Drudoo.

One trick would be to use a plate element as a straighening guide when laying down the tiles. Then use a brick separator to quickly shift the plate over for the next row. That's what I did on my Trump World Tower model. Trying to align them by hand proved to be fruitless.

That is a really good idea! I will have to rebuild it today and try that! =)

I agree. It is not as iconic as some of the other buildings but the building itself is an architectural gem. So simple and yet so beautiful.

I really like to do reviews, it is just rare that i find a set that don't have one =D

Ooh, the guesses were right. Thanks for the review.

Well, I'm not too interested in Architecture as it's not available here. Still, this makes for a great display piece. :classic:

Looks pretty good. I really like the interior, that's just awesome! Might use that sometime.

What I don't like, for me as an architecture student, is the thickness of the columns. In the original design they are supposed to be slender, something they are not in this model.. They might have used bars or poles instead of bricks here.

Besides that, excellent one and interesting choice to pick this building.

Thanks for an interesting review of a very interesting set 'Drudoo'. :classic:

Looking up the real one on the net, I found Lego has tried to stick to the original design as best as possible.....I might try and build a minifig scale one of these.....hello LDD !

Brick On Everyone !

I think this set is better than the White House set. While the White House set used more building techniques and had a wider parts selection, the building is only famous for its history rather than its architectural design.

The Farnsworth House is an excellent choice for the theme. Part of the charm lies in the fact that nobody would want to live in it. Despite being a functional house, the view is both a blessing and a curse. You can enjoy the view the of the natural surroundings from inside but the floor-to-ceiling glass walls also remove any form of privacy. The house gives a new meaning to the proverb "people who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones."

It is a little strange to see an official set use so many tiles for purely decorative purposes.

The look achieved by the interior is a key feature in determining whether or not to get this set. Without the interior, the building would look too plain.

Get this set or Fallingwater! I have only seen great interest from architects in this theme.

Thanks! Fallingwater really looks like agreat set! I'll think about it! :classic:

The only think I find compelling about the set is the interior. I'm not too thrilled, overall... but I'm one of those anal retentives with every other architecture set, so now I need to get this one or go crazy.

Thanks for the review. I hadn't heard of this set before. This is the first Architectural set available in Canada.

When I saw it I first thought it was an April Fools joke.

While I find it a nice model to look at, I'd be interested in building it to minifig scale. Shouldn't be too difficult.

Would anyone care to provide the PDF# for the manual to be downloaded from Lego.com ? This would certainly make doubling the size easier

Building one in minifig scale is a fantastic idea! Given that the house is not a very big one it's very doable. Brickset.com has the instructions for download. http://www.brickset.com/detail/?Set=21009-1

Playability: 0/10 - This set is not for playing but a set you need to have on display.

I think it would be a great challenge to construct some figs, vehicles and neighbours at the same scale! Especially using the furniture cues from this set. You could play then!

Cheers

This set looks good, but costs a shocking £55 across the pond in the UK, compared to £37 in the US *grumbles*

Seems as a lot of people have the whole architecture range, I was just wondering (as it's not availible in the UK) if The WHite House is worth getting off Amazon for £40 (about $65), cos it looks pretty good?? Cheers.

Absolutely the nr 1 set from the Series, at least in the meaning value/money. It is great, I have it. Original building is similar to Scandinavian design which I like and this set reflects it very well.
