For those of you ordering, are you ordering the AAA Battery Box (88000) or the Rechargable? (8878)?

Without my knowledge, my wife ordered a Maersk Train and I did not know about it until it arrived today.

Fantastic pre-Easter surprise Phred - sweet!

AAA for me. A total savings of $63 (Rechargable box plus charger) is too good to pass up. I have a set of 6 rechargable AAAs anyways, so it really was an easy decision.

Hi TB :cry_happy:

Oh well, guess what: 8878 it is for me, modified 9V train motor, automatic recharging on powered track, separate adjustable power output ... I know, I know, has been told before, but you asked :classic::classic::classic::thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

All the best,

I ordered mine yesterday from LSAH. It quickly sold out here in the US, and I had considered waiting until LSAH offered free shipping again. After seeing it available again (original backorder date was end of April), I broke down and ordered it. I ordered 88000 this time around, since I have an 8878 for my Emerald Night. Thought I'd give it a try and save some money. Unfortuantely, both the motor and the battery case are on backorder.

BTW, I just read your Power Functions Insight topic - interesting read. Sorry for not responding. I was curious how the two compare.

In any case, I plan to build my Maersk on Easter Sunday (nice thing to do on Easter, and to look forward to). Regards, -TB

I ordered mine on March 31, and it shipped on April 1. I received it today (April 7). I'm in Manitoba, Canada, so it's not too bad for transit time from Lego, which ships from the USA.

Although I have it staring at me, and begging to be built, I won't be able to for several weeks... :cry_sad:

Ordered my from S&H on March 31 and received them today. Took awhile to build but i am so glad i bought 2. Now if i can convince my wife to let me open the other one :)

Received mine today and completed the loco build. Absolutely exceptional! The multiple SNOT techniques made the instructions a real page turner.

I am stretching the entire build out over a couple of days so that I may "savor" the experience...

Fun, Fun, Fun and well worth the wait and price.

I finished building just the engine last night and motorized it. The new train motor works great! I can't wait to see how much cargo it can pull.

New to the forum - ordered two from s@h on launch day and have one build and motorized. Hopefully build the second tonight. Just switched the battery box to the rechargable becuase My AAA died.

I started last year with the Emerald Night, bought the Cargo set in January, this set is so much better from a detail and build stand point. Just need to grow my

Layout so all 3 trains can go at once. Also want to get one more Maersk set for the train cars and cargo containers.

I picked up two yesterday after waiting almost an hour in line at the grand opening of the new store in Indianapolis. I started building the first engine today. I know I want to motorize it, but I'm torn if I want to get a separate set of PF for it, or if I want to cannibalize a 9-volt motor from one of my old trains (it would most likely be from 4559). It's been a great build so far.

it is a pity with the newer train sets that you don't get 'alternative' buiding instructions in the box for a different loco. i'm sure a different GP or SD loco could be built with 95% of the bits plus a few others.

Regarding the title of the thread:

Not yet...

Ordered it, but on the Lego.co.uk site, released on April 1st (sic), but said will sent on 4th May, then 6th May.

Checked just now, but not saying any delays. Is it in the post? Watch this space!!!

Subject: Motorizing, have 9V and 12v Motors. Will do both and try them out. Should take about 5 seconds to mod from one to the other.

Well, my 4 came today. It's an awesome set but in the one I built I was missing 2 1x4 plates. One in the special blue and one in light gray. I'll be calling Lego tomorrow.

I ordered one from S@H UK on the 6th and despite the site saying it wouldn't ship till 1st May, I got an email yesterday saying mine was in the post, so I should get it in the next couple of days. The S@H site always seems to be rather conservative in it's estimate of when back-ordered sets will ship.
