KisKatona Posted October 29, 2011 Posted October 29, 2011 Ok, just finished part 1 of Umbara, and here is my review. Krell is an idiotic, suicidal maniac. Seriously, he makes the platoon go forward, then they get ambushed and he yells at them?! Serioulsy, wtc? Then he yells at them for survivng and threatens Fives? Where was he in the battle? He just runs away! I would not mind if a) he got shot in the face or painfully killed without being a hero or b)getting shot by the clones in a 'friendly-fire' incident. I still don't like him even after he apologizes. Okay, onto the clones: i'm glad no one important died yet. Hardcase is awesome with the Z-6, and Fives and Rex are a good pair. Is Jesse and Kix in the series to? And what rank is Fives because it seems that he is lower than Rex. P.S. Rex's armor is amazing! Quote
Fives Posted October 29, 2011 Posted October 29, 2011 Just watched Darkness on Umbarra, and all I can say is that this is what I was expecting from the start of the season! This was so awesome! The whole episode felt like one huge battle. Fives is just amazing, and the stuff between him and Rex just is so great. Krell... he needs some work. I hated the fact that he addressed the clones by their numbers rather than their names. His light sabers are really cool, but he kinda reminds me of the Republic's version of Grievous. He wastes troops, hides in the background, comes out for a minute and does some cool stuff, then runs away. I really hope that over the course of the story arc, he has some major character development. On a more LEGO related note, after seeing this episode, Krell being taller than a normal mini fig would work. He is about a head tall than all of the clones, so the new Garmaddon body has obviously been designed for future use with a Krell fig. We need to see a set that just has Krell, new Rex, Fives, Tup and Dogma. That would be perfect. Quote
Oky Posted October 29, 2011 Posted October 29, 2011 FINALLY a decent episode! There was almost an abundance of action, and some interesting character chemistry too. Sure, Krell is an annoying, prejudiced coward, but he is meant to be. I just don't get why everyone seemed to look up to him at the beginning of the episode. I mean, how could such a jerk ever get a good reputation? Anyway, this was much closer to what the show should be like than the last 20 or so episodes, so there is still hope for this series. Quote

Mr Man Posted October 29, 2011 Posted October 29, 2011 And what rank is Fives because it seems that he is lower than Rex. ARC's have their own rank system don't they separate from the main Army, however Fives is less cool than Rex so Rex outranks him . Quote
XimenaPaulina Posted October 29, 2011 Author Posted October 29, 2011 Yes a good episode finally, a great one action-wise and reminds me a lot of Landing at Point Rain but Version 2.0 on a different planet (though I still much prefer Point Rain). But what I liked the most about this episode is how Krell "pushed" Rex to the limit of his patience (I really felt how badly Rex wanted to blast that jedi's head off if he had the chance ), but he had grace under pressure and his reaction of "calmly disagreeing" with Krell is a good sign with regards to his eventual fate in the series. Seeing what Rex had to go through in this episode now makes me wanna see him go rogue in the end. Quote
spitfire Posted October 29, 2011 Posted October 29, 2011 I really liked this episode, and especially Krell. Krell is like a typical second lieutenant type (I know, I know he is a general, but it seems to me, that Jedi act more like lieutenants, while cody and rex are more like sergeants). He is just like those pricks in army, who have just graduated from academy and all they can think of is protocol, discipline, and orders. I hated the fact that he addressed the clones by their numbers rather than their names. I really hope that over the course of the story arc, he has some major character development. The way Krell addressed the clones by their numbers, was exactly what a guy like him would do. And i really hope that Krell will remain the way he is. We've got enough good guys in Clone Wars! Quote
KisKatona Posted October 29, 2011 Posted October 29, 2011 Well, I guess that we kinda do still need Krell. We do have enough fun Jedi, and this guy is like a drill sergeant. But, knowing TCW, he'll die by the end of the arc. But when are we going to see him in action!?! Quote
Brickadeer Posted October 29, 2011 Posted October 29, 2011 I think that Krell represents what the war might turn the Jedis into: warriors, but not peacekeepers. Krell, a Jedi, uses and commands the clones like pawns on a chess field. As he was, powerfull, efficient, determined, he reminded me a lot of Darth Vader. He probably is closer to the dark side than even Nahdar Webb was. The curious thing was that he was (and needed to be) taught a lesson about leadership and responsibility by Rex, who has become wise veteran. What's relatively new is the rift between the military corps (clones) and the leadership (Jedi). Quote

He has really developed as a character. Also, does anyone else think Rex looks older. His cheeks were more sunken in and he just seemed more defined. Maybe it is the improvement of the animation. commanderneyo Posted October 29, 2011 Posted October 29, 2011 Best episode of the series, Darkness on Umbara, is! Finally Landing at Point Rain has met it's equal, or better... Hardcase is now my no. 2 favourite Clone, behind Wolffe of course. I like Krell a lot, who wants the bland-boring Jedi all the time, someone like Krell is a must! Quote
commdr_neyo Posted October 29, 2011 Posted October 29, 2011 I just watched Darkness on Umbara, and I got to say, I think it's the best episode of this season so far There were of course things I didn't like, one of them being Krell's stupidity Krell did remind me of Grievous in, I believe, The Deserter. Mostly because he didn't seem to care much about the clones, even threatening one. I did like Fives getting a (tiny) little darker, by smashing the head of a soldier down, and then shooting it. An improvement I think, was that we got to see more 'weapon shots', if you guys know what I mean.. Looking forward to the next episode! Quote
Brickdoctor Posted October 29, 2011 Posted October 29, 2011 Easily the best episode thus far, that one was. Big battles are a good start for an arc that needs to redeem the whole season. Krell might be a bit on the stupid side, (he reminds me somewhat of Lord Keveak in Heroica Quest 4) but he's a refreshing change from the Jedi we normally see. In the latter half of the episode, somehow it seemed to me that there were always about twenty clones and three AT-RTs shown, no matter how many were destroyed, and the giant lights were a bit on the ridiculous side (don't LAAT/is have integrated lights?), but on the whole, a good episode. Quote

But, knowing TCW, he'll die by the end of the arc. But when are we going to see him in action!?! Good point. I'm not sure if we ever will. A jedi weilding two double-bladed lightsabers was a silly idea to begin with (even though it does help make him look like a coward, just like the Sith) and it would probably be hard to show him using them effectively in battle. And those few short moves that he did in this episode hardly count as fighting. Finally Landing at Point Rain has met it's equal, or better... Like KDM, I still prefer LaPR, mostly because it doesn't have Krell in it, but also because it shows more strategy and shows Obi Wan, one of the most untouchable characters in the entire saga, getting injured. I did like Fives getting a (tiny) little darker, by smashing the head of a soldier down, and then shooting it. Yeah, I noticed that too, though I'm not sure I like it. It's always acceptable and cool when clones do that to droids, like they did in the old CW, but it was kinda odd seeing him do that to another living being. Quote
ADHO15 Posted October 29, 2011 Posted October 29, 2011 I don't normally comment on each episode, but I agree that this one was easily the best of the season so far! I can't say I was a big fan of the dark, especially when I can only watch it on poor-quality internet videos, but it was a nice idea to try it. There were a few nit-picky things like using 'squads', 'platoons' and 'battalions' seemingly incorrectly, though it has been mentioned that there doesn't seem to be any fewer clones at the end than at the beginning, despite how many we see die. These groupings have a set number of clone troopers, so I guess I'm pedantic when it comes to using them properly. I like clone-centric episodes and I noticed lots of named clones with varied armour, which was nice. Lots of returning clones too like Hawk and the Saleucami trio, which is good. Definitely a great episode! (he reminds me somewhat of Lord Keveak in Heroica Quest 4) I thought that too when I was watching him! and the giant lights were a bit on the ridiculous side (don't LAAT/is have integrated lights?) They were used in the finale of the Citadel arc, I think it was, as well. Maybe a tad oversized, but they must work well. It looks like they're designed to occupy the ball turret spot on certain gunships, which is a smart idea. Quote
Jedi master Brick Posted October 29, 2011 Posted October 29, 2011 and the giant lights were a bit on the ridiculous side (don't LAAT/is have integrated lights?), but on the whole, a good episode. I Think there were giant lights an the Laat that picked up rescue team and Tarkin fro the Citadel. It is really a long wait for us in the uk. And then we have to go thourg several episodes of crap before we get to the good stuff. Quote

Now that you mention it, I do sort of remember that.I can't find an image at the moment, so I suppose I'll just ask - didn't the Muunilist 10 Rancor LAAT/i have headlights during the Hypori mission in the '03 series? That's the only time I can remember them being used: . Small ones located at the top of each wing. I guess it makes sense to attach large floodlights when fighting a battle on a planet submerged in darkness. Edited October 29, 2011 by ADHO15 Quote

See, if nothing else, the lightsaber battles in that series were so much better than the ones in this series. Quote
ADHO15 Posted October 29, 2011 Posted October 29, 2011 See, if nothing else, the lightsaber battles in that series were so much better than the ones in this series. I partly agree. A bit over the top, but more impressive (move-wise anyway; TCW is better visually, in my opinion). As I was watching, I was trying to see what it would look like if it was remade as part of The Clone Wars. There is no way Grievous could get away with that nowadays! Quote

Nowadays, Grievous takes out his 'surpising' four arms just about every time, always stays on his feet, and for the most part can't be more than the equal opponent of one or two Jedi, let alone five. Yes, but sadly, I don't think that series is being considered canon anymore. Besides, that could just be one of the modifications of the Muunlist 10's LAAT/i. Quote
