Mr Man Posted February 19, 2012 Posted February 19, 2012 Maul looked very calm in EP1 to me. He's totally different to me here. Maul was calm on the surface in TPM, but you could see the mad snarling every now and again, whereas in TCW he appears to have been driven completely mad. I hope he isn't as tall as Savage, Maul in TPM was quit short, which was one of the great things about him. Quote

Mr Man Posted February 20, 2012 Posted February 20, 2012 Actually, I think he might be even taller: *Snip* Great now he looks like he's built like a brick wall as well as been 3 metres high . I suppose he has 8 4 bladed lightsabres in one had as well . Quote

Well, there's still the possibility that Savage doesn't stand but kneels on the picture But I think that with avionic legs, he will be taller than Savage. Edited February 20, 2012 by Brickadeer Quote

Then TLG could make a piece similar to the standard hip piece, but with bars instead of the pins; and they could reuse the General Grievous legs, but recolored. (The bar-hip piece would come in handy for making PotC skeleton pirates.) Quote

Ishv-viss-j Posted February 20, 2012 Posted February 20, 2012 In all honestly, I think bringing Maul back from the dead was a terrible decision. Not only does the idea of it further liken the Clone Wars TV show to the garbage of the Expanded Universe, the execution ruins one of the best things about Maul – the fact that he had very little to say in Episode I. I don't understand your points. It would be nice if you could explain to us why the idea "further liken the Clone Wars TV show to the garbage of the Expanded Universe, and why one of the best things about Maul was the fact that "he had very little to say in Episode I". I can't see that your first point neither is good nor bad per se. Your second point is an expression of your personal preferences. Quote
Jedi master Brick Posted February 21, 2012 Posted February 21, 2012 In my opinion, if you are dead you are dead. If you are cut in half and kicked down a reactor, with now one to help you, you are dead. It shows Filoni is running out of ideas, even though they have not been that many episodes which has clone troopers fighting war. To me the whole point of savage Opress was to revisit the spices without bringing Maul back. Quote

It makes the concept of death more difficult to predict, which means that potentially, noone is dead for sure. I wonder whether Maul will have been revived or whether he was kept alive. I would not say though that it means that Filoni is running out of ideas. TCW has explored a couple of topics that neither the OT nor the PT explored, and this time again they are exploring possibilities of the concept of the Force, of things that can be done. And I think that TCW is a great opportunity to do so. This time, they have come with something fancy, that rises some serious question: how can he be alive? What about the rule of two? For me, Star Wars is a fictional fantasy universe, and I want to be told good stories. That's why I think that original concepts shouldn't be interpreted too narrow. If the usage of the Force would be still about influencing the mind of the weak and moving little objects through the air, the Star Wars universe would be rather boring and sterile So basically, I see it quite different: they guys are not running out of ideas, but they still have couple of fancy ideas that may seem a bit odd and over the edge to a couple of SW fans. Peanuts Posted February 21, 2012 Posted February 21, 2012 My guess is that bringing him back was Lucas' doing. 'Original vision' of giving Maul a bigger role and all that. Hasn't Filoni once said in some interview that the whole Maul thing was Lucas' idea? Is it just me, or is The Clone Wars not about Clones and War anymore? I mean, we just had four episodes about bounty hunters, before that we had Mandalore, which was okay, but didn't contain Clones or War on a siginificant level either. Now we will get more about Ventress, Opress and Maul, but not about the Clone Wars. Frankly, I'd like to see something like the Umbara arc again, or just something that senters on War, because that's what the show should be about. Right now, from season to season they are taking more distance from the real Clone War and focus on stuff like Bounty Hunters (which is okay), the Senate (), or even Ventress/Maul () and Mortis. I'd really like to see something more straight-forward. Quote

I'd really like to see something more straight-forward. Generally, the series leads to the events of Episode 3. Personally, I'm glad that it has more to offer than just clones and war stories, and that they take the time to tell stories that are not directly related to the war The last arc wasn't really about bounty hunters, but more about Anakin, his relation to Obi Wan, the Jedi Council, the Council's relation to Obi Wan, and Sidous' plotting against them; the setting of the story had to do with bounty hunters, though. The war on the other hand is not the big story. The war is just a means of Sidious' raise to power. So I think it's natural that the series is not just about clones and wars; if I understand it correctly, "The Clone Wars" is just a name for a certain period of time and not a single event, and therefore, the series takes into account certain events that happened in this period of time. LEGOman273 Posted February 21, 2012 Posted February 21, 2012 Also, the series follows the adventures of Anakin, Obi-Wan, Ahsoka, and Rex. This limits what they can show. Quote

Although I would like to see the events surrounding the creation of clones on Kamino (Jedi Master Sifo-Dyas, the deletion of Kamino from the Jedi archives) or parts of Sidious' past with Darth Plagueis Quote
LEGOman273 Posted February 21, 2012 Posted February 21, 2012 It does. Although I would like to see the events surrounding the creation of clones on Kamino (Jedi Master Sifo-Dyas, the deletion of Kamino from the Jedi archives) or parts of Sidious' past with Darth Plagueis More flashbacks would be great. I would just like to see some episodes starring people other than the main characters. (Though they have done better with that - Umbara arc, Bounty Hunters arc, etc.) They should bring back Admiral Trench, he could easily still be alive. (I wonder if he can teleport. He had survived explosions before, he is from a new species (and one that has not been reused)). If we can have changlings, then why not teleporters? In Ep. IV, Luke mentioned teleportation, so perhaps it is possible. Before his ship blew up, he closed his eyes - something I have seen noone else do - perhaps he was teleporting? Quote

I'd consider the way that Castiel tells his story in "Supernatural" season 6 or the way that Chuck tells a story in the final episode of season 5 as flashbacks in a broader sense I cannot think of a single flashback in Star Wars, though, so it'd be a rather new concept. I find teleportation or "transportation" too "Star Trekish" and too "sci-fiish", so I don't think it will or should be used. Edited February 21, 2012 by Brickadeer Quote

In fact, much of Season 3 consisted of flashbacks. It would not be the first time SW has taken something from ST: Eeth Koth and Agen Kolar look a bit like Klingons. And, as I mentioned before, Luke makes a comment about teleportation, showing that they had at least some concept of it. Quote
