Brickadeer Posted February 21, 2012 Posted February 21, 2012 (edited) "Clone Cadets" was a flashback. In fact, much of Season 3 consisted of flashbacks. It would not be the first time SW has taken something from ST: Eeth Koth and Agen Kolar look a bit like Klingons. And, as I mentioned before, Luke makes a comment about teleportation, showing that they had at least some concept of it. Maybe we have a different understanding of the concept of "flashback". Personally, I think that there needs to be a person that has the flashback in order to make clear to the audience what happens. That's not the case with "Rookies" and the respective episodes. I still do not understand why "Rookies" was shown in season 1, while it takes place between episode 1 and 2 of season 3. It is correct that Luke mentions teleportation - along with with two other things that are equally impossible. Anything that didn't happen in the movies is extended universe, because it extends the story. You are right though that CW is technically not EU as far as canon talk is concerned. They made up some silly canon for the CW to say "Hey! This matters! You should watch it!". CW is all about making money, that's why it exists, and bringing back a popular movie character is marketing genius. Maul is loved because in every scene he rarely talked or was doing something interesting. The more screen time he gets the less mysterious and more overplayed he will get. But I guess we will just see, that is just my prediction. If you want to continue discussion, PM so we don't hijack AC's thread. Not sure if you read this I don't think that the main objective of TCW is to make money. It has to be popular though and to draw attention because otherwise it could not be aired (which is one of the problems that "Underworld" currently has). I think that Lucas made TCW for several reasons, and one of them is that he realized that the PT is too short, that certain things simply do not take enough time or attention in order to be understood. So one function of TCW is to fix certain shortcommings of the PT. Bringing back Maul may be a marketing genius. But there are actually people (like me ) who like the idea. So you might consider the possibility that the writers are aware of the fact that a lot of people want to be told fancy stories, and who don't want Star Wars to be treated like some kind of exact science that makes all kinds of events predictable and that has to be consistent with some kind of "code" or "canon". The Legonater Posted February 21, 2012 Posted February 21, 2012 Also, the series follows the adventures of Anakin, Obi-Wan, Ahsoka, and Rex. This limits what they can show. Is it just me, or is The Clone Wars not about Clones and War anymore? I mean, we just had four episodes about bounty hunters, before that we had Mandalore, which was okay, but didn't contain Clones or War on a siginificant level either. Now we will get more about Ventress, Opress and Maul, but not about the Clone Wars. Frankly, I'd like to see something like the Umbara arc again, or just something that senters on War, because that's what the show should be about. Right now, from season to season they are taking more distance from the real Clone War and focus on stuff like Bounty Hunters (which is okay), the Senate (), or even Ventress/Maul () and Mortis. I'd really like to see something more straight-forward. See, the beginning of the show used to be much more war-focused, and it wasn't just about the above mentioned chareceters. The first season had less to do with Anakin's victories and more to do with the battles, with many episodes without the four main charecters in a primary role, if featured at all (Ambush, Rookies, Bombad Jedi, etc). For some reason, over time they slipped away from this, and focused more on stuff that has less and less to do with the war. Quote
Oky Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 "Clone Cadets" was a flashback. In fact, much of Season 3 consisted of flashbacks. Wrong. Those aren't flashbacks, they merely take place earlier than other episodes chronologically. There is no such thing as a flashback episode since a flashback is only part of a story. By the way, I came across an old issue of Time Magazine where they had a big article on the then yet unreleased ROTS, along with a "Star Wars Family Tree". It puts the complex relationships of all the main characters of the saga into a nutshell, and while this may be common knowledge to us big-time Star Wars fans, it might be useful to some of the more casual Star Wars watchers you know. KisKatona Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 Didn't Filoni say in an interview that this Season was going to be more focused on the clones? It seems to me that he has said that for every Season so far, and other than a few episodes per Season showing some new clones, the Movie contained the most clone action, yet it only named three clones (Rex, Cody, and Oddball). The_Box Posted February 23, 2012 Posted February 23, 2012 Wow, that is amazing. I was skeptical with Clones Wars bringing in Chewie and his lackluster appearance/role but this trailer shows that Maul is a pivotal player in these episodes instead of just a random encounter. Quote

General Magma Posted February 23, 2012 Posted February 23, 2012 Just wait. I wait until all 4 have broadcast then watch them all at once. Heh, hadn't thought of doing that, but I might do it anyways. That way I can just watch all four of them as if it were a movie. Still skeptical about that though... it means a longer wait. But hey - if it's a better experience then I'm up for the wait. The trailer really is amazing, I'm expecting these episodes to become the best ones (together a story arc) of the entire Clone Wars series. For some reason, I think that Raxus Prime might show up in one of these episodes - unless it could even be the very location of Darth Maul himself... ~ General Magma Quote

I really can't believe Season 4 is coming to an end. These last 4 episodes look amazing and have a ton of potential. Hopefully Season 4 ends with these being the best episodes of the season. Just wait. I wait until all 4 have broadcast then watch them all at once. I wish I had the will-power to do this but unfortunately I lack the patience to do this. CaptainCRO Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 Is that a single bladed lightsabre? Maybe he still has the one Obi cut in half. Now I start to think the new LEGO figure is actually a CW figure. They included black legs instead of the new robot legs. Quote
