Sorry for the spoiler alert above. I was reading about the episode on Wookieepedia and the basic outline of the story was taken from some comic made about Savage's quest. It isn't exactly what we will see, but there were some things given away, like the nature of Savage's talisman and Talzin's role. But, I won't say any more.

I'm a bit behind here, catching up on the episode I missed, so here's a sort of mini-review:

  • The new freighter reminds me of World Devestators.
  • Snake-thing is...interesting. Weird. Not weird-funny like Nancy the Psychiatrist Snake, though.
  • Junkers must be CW's attempt to create a new Tusken Raider. Wonder how long it will take them to realize that every time they try to recreate an awesome OT thing, they fail. These looked pretty good, though.
  • I've never really paid attention to the series that included Raxus Prime (like TFU), but the new planet seems like a copy of it, complete with acid instead of water.
  • Add Maul to the list of characters CW has completely ruined. I find myself hoping that some Dark Force power (or even Nightsister magic, actually) will restore his memory and sanity so he can go back to being Darth Maul.
  • The Savage-Maul encounter reminded me somewhat of the scene from LotR. Only much less awesome.

1. Filoni said the true Tusken Raiders will at some point be in the show.

2. This actually happens in "Revenge". Mother Talzin gets Maul back his memory and gives him droid legs.

Darth Maul and Savage Opress where in LOTR *oh2*, I need to see that film again :cry_happy:. Where they in the book or added for the film?

Well, that was a...fair episode, in my opinion. I liked the banter between Obi-Wan and Ventress, it is really cool to see two former enemies fight back-to-back as well as they did. I must agree with Brickdoctor, TCW ruined Maul. Even when he's sane with cool robo legs, he's just awful. I half-expected Maul to capture Kenobi's family in this episode instead of massacring a whole planet.

Season 5, anyone? Let's hope the clones get more action, seeing a Muunilinst or Tatooine campaign would be awesome!

Well, I just watched the finale of Season 4 and I'm fairly impressed, although some things definitely could have been done better.

Darth Maul was quite strange, but I wouldn't go quite as far as to say "ruined". He was pushed to the brink of insanity! Although, at first he was portrayed as a weakling, nursing himself to health in hiding, and Maul is one character that should never be a weakling, even if he's insane.

I loved the fight scene. Especially when Obi-Wan didn't have his normal lightsaber and had to use Ventress's. That was so cool, a fight with all red lightsabers.

I can't wait for Season 5!

Kind of ironic isn't it? Obi-Wan and Ventress go from allies to enemies. Later Obi-Wan & Anakin will got from best friends to worst enemies. I didn't like the basically (ESB like) cliff hanger.

Did we get a preview last night? If so, I didn't see it.

Spoiler! Nooooooooooooooo! :sing:

 I'm in the middle of that episode right now. Maul's voice seems...wrong, somehow, to me. And I'm disappointed that he didn't kill Talzin and Savage upon awakening.

Lucas used his huge pile of cash to obtain rights to the LotR films, then retconned them in. :sweet:

But that's what I predicted, so you could have prepared for this situation :classic:

Personally, I liked the episode. Not as good as "Massacre", but quite good.

I liked Maul as well. He appeared to be pretty powerful, and much more clever and experienced than Opress. And, of course, I like the underlying philosophical questions that became more apparent in season 4.

Me neither :sceptic:

Personally I don't think it's fair to say that TCW ruined Maul. Not saying that opinion is wrong but I don't see it that way. If anything, Lucas ruined Maul the way he was defeated in TPM. For me he was one of the high points of Episode I and I always thought his character had so much potential. I really enjoyed last nights episode and I was left wishing that the finale was a double episode. Only so much story could be told in one episode but I think the episode was nicely done. I really can't wait to see Savage Oppress's power as he receives training from Maul. Oppress personifies brute strength. Imagine how powerful he can become with time and the proper training to compliment his raw power. I foresee many Jedi falling in battle.

I thought he didn't sound quite right either. I know he didn't speak much in TPM, but I remember him being deeper toned...more...I don't know, can't think of the right word. Maybe his inflection changed due to his state of mind and reclusion...

In TPM, I believe he had more of an English accent - but he's been eating garbage for the past decade so that altered his voice like this.

The episode was awful the clone wars ruined Maul. Also this goes along my point that I have made before. Not a single clone trooper and the show is called the clone wars. I would be fine with that if at least half of the episode had colone troopers fighting a war. Maul just did not sem right, his personality was both like his TPM one, even after he got his memory back

Sumary of season 4: a few good episodes but needs clones fighting wars instead of characters being ruined. 2/10

Yup, he was voiced by English Peter Serafinowicz in TPM, but American Sam Witwer in TCW :sceptic:.

I think he talks to much in TCW, the silent version in TPM was much more intimidating. However if he is to become a recurring character, he may regain more of his mystery. And maybe a shirt .

A character who barely ever talked before of whom we saw nothing other than his combat skills is ruined? Why? Because he decided to speak more now?

How do you people think you can reveal someone's entire personality with a few minutes of screen-time? :hmpf:

Not trying to sound rude, but I'm kind of tired of people complaining about everything. We barely knew anything about Maul, and you would change too if you sat hopelessly on a junk planet for an entire decade after losing everything you stood for, while eating garbage to survive and being filled with torment.

Even if he got his memory back it doesn't mean he has to go back to being the "old Maul". A few minutes of screen-time won't do him justice, nor will it show what he's actually like. (TPM)

Maul barely did anything in that movie and was gotten rid of at the end of it already.

I have to agree with Basil here - it's not fair to say that TCW ruined him, and there was barely anything about him before that.

Frankly, that is how they ruined him.

Now, I haven't seen these episodes yet (or this season for that matter), but what I do know was Darth Maul was the Boba Fett of the Prequel Trilogy. He was dark, mysterious, and didn't say a whole lot. That was his charecter. With him now being a psycho-maniac who aparently won't shut up, his charecter is drastically changed, and thus ruined.

Not so. In this case it just adds the possibility that he can get better after just recovering from insanity.

In general that's also wrong.

You judge him without even having seen the episodes? You should watch them before commenting on the character like that. :sceptic:

He goes back to Dathomir so Mother Talzin can restore his memory, give him new legs and make him return to sanity, more or less. He still wants revenge though.

People are complaining that he talks too much although he's no longer as crazy, but I can't really see a silent back-from-the-dead Maul in the series...

What I've said is based wholely on the comments I've seen to give an explanation as to why they might think that way. I, personally, try to remain neutral on anything to do with The Clone Wars until I've seen it myself.
