prateek Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 (edited) Quick question, but where do we put glitches? I've noticed if you go below the ground and try rotating pieces, the axis gets all messed up. And 64645 has missing studs Edited April 5, 2011 by prateek Quote
Captain Becker Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 Intresting news. My computer has broken down currently so i cant install the 4.1 version right now (Im on my schools computer before the class starts). Its great at there are those new bow pieces, and some other parts might come handy as well. Looking forward to test it when i get my computer back. Captain Becker Quote
Zerobricks Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 Looks nice and dandy to me. I even managed to build the V8 engine block with ease. Quote
AllanSmith Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 I have entered ThemeAccess=LDDExtended in the .ini file. I noticed that Themeaccess=LEGOUniverse is still there. Should this be removed? Quote
Lalror Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 No, it does not need to be removed at all. That file is actually blank, you can even run the program without it existing. But, if you want to use LE, then you have to keep it saved with the text in it. ~Lalror Quote
BrickWild Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 I'm pleased with the new elements in extended mode! But why did it drop Creator mode anyway? Quote
Lalror Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 I'm pleased with the new elements in extended mode! But why did it drop Creator mode anyway? Probably because it was almost the exact same as the design by me mode was. Quote
Aanchir Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 Probably because it was almost the exact same as the design by me mode was. Well, not necessarily. In Creator mode, if you used the "Filter Bricks by Boxes" tool and selected a set, your palette would include all the parts in that set based on quantity. It was a useful tool, allowing you to simulate building with the parts from an actual set. Part of the reason it was removed is probably just that the sets it included have become out-of-date, and for whatever reason they didn't think it worthwhile to update it with new sets. Quote
Superkalle Posted April 5, 2011 Author Posted April 5, 2011 "FLEXnet License Finder -- Your application was not able to obtain a license because the FLEXnet license server manager could not determine where to find the licensing data it needs. Please choose one of the following: Interesting problem. There is a file in the C:\Program Files (x86)\LEGO Company\LEGO Digital Designer that is called RL278-094.lic, and that I suppose is the license file. Do you have that on your computer. Otherwise, try to uninstall, clean out the above mentioned folder, and re-install. I'm fiddling with the program now, and so far I love everything new I see in LE mode; the one thing that I noticed so far is that when I open the new color palette, the last row of colors is only visible when the window fills the whole screen. That wouldn't be a problem, except since I'm using this on a Mac, the Dock covers up a portion of the window when it's expanded to fit the whole screen. That means that I have to hide the Dock whenever I use LDD. Luckily, this isn't much of a problem since the only color in that row is Phosphorescent White, but different size or scrolling palette would be nice. Same as the face prints from 4.0. I actually got a note from the LDD Team about this. The reason the palette becomes like this is because they added the "Legacy" color section for us fans, and since they wanted to give us as many colors as possible, the palette became a bit too long on some resolutions/computers. The alternative would have been to remove several legacy colors, and (luckily for most of us) they decided not to. So, the problem only occurs in LE mode, which is intended only for fans. Not a solution, but an explanation. I have entered ThemeAccess=LDDExtended in the .ini file. I noticed that Themeaccess=LEGOUniverse is still there. Should this be removed? You can remove ThemeAccess=LEGOUniverse if you want, but I don't think it matters if it's still in there. Quote

And 64645 has missing studs I think we can keep posting brick bugs in this topic until it calms down a bit. This becuase it's diffiult to know initially what is features and what is bugs. About the messed up axis, it is a feature (which I don't understand - but maybe it grows on you?). See here Quote

legolijntje Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 (edited) Hmm, all my models that are made in LEGOUniverse mode still open in Universe mode. How can I open them in extended mode? EDIT: I already found a solution, sorry Edited April 5, 2011 by legolijntje Quote
SpiderSpaceman Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 Ok, absolutely loving it, BUT Due to the new parts, we've got a new necessity. Hinge align needs updating to work with sockets Quote

Aanchir Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 Can you explain? I think he's referring to the new Hero Factory joint pieces, and how Hinge Align doesn't work with them. Regrettably, I don't think there's any great solution for that until they update the Hinge Align tool. In the meantime, the fact that ball-joint pieces of any sort now can be hinged along three dimensions by inputting the numerical angles is certainly a great boon. Quote
CommanderFox Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 I must say from the quick browse i've had of the extended mode, it looks alot better. Now to do some building when I have some free time! CF Quote

JaseTJ Posted April 6, 2011 Posted April 6, 2011 I officially can't find the 'Appdata' file... :/ (Thus, I can't find the correct preferences file and update it...) Quote
AndyC Posted April 6, 2011 Posted April 6, 2011 I officially can't find the 'Appdata' file... :/ (Thus, I can't find the correct preferences file and update it...) It's a hidden folder, you can either spend ages mucking around with Explorer settings to show hidden folders or you can just type %appdata% into the Explorer address bar (or Start menu search box) which will automagically open the right place. xSergio74 Posted April 6, 2011 Posted April 6, 2011 Just wishing there was a magic autoconnect for that exposed ball and that empty socket AKA what Aanchir said Hi, I think that it is a bit hard to build a real hinge align tool to solve that problem since that kind of structure has infinite possible connection point. Since it can be deformed along both 3 axis the joint connection point is not uniquely defined but can lay anywhere on a section of a sphere having the radius (in the reported image sample) of the lower double ball joint. Anyway some simplified solution may be found but can cause unwanted results depending on cases... Sergio Quote

Did you follow the instructions here, specially the part of the unhiding folder? Otherwise I have to say that Andys solution is elegant and simple. Quote
